I don't know what it is, but the headlines they generate make me want to open an account less and less. Certain friends of mine have complained of either receiving too much junk mail through all the "poking" facilities and whatnot, from Facebook addicts, or being pressured by their friends to open an account. I've been invited onto Facebook lots of times, but I just wouldn't entertain it. I don't like the potential capacity for bullying on there. I have a Myspace and Friends Reunited account, plus my own websites, and those do me fine, thankyou! IP: Logged |

I wouldn't worry about bullying on Facebook. Bullying on the internet is more likely to happen on forums or other places that aren't as easily connected to the "real world" and are mostly anonymous.I consider Facebook an extension of the real world. Most of my friends are people I've met face to face. Totally separate from my online friends. Real world social rules apply to Facebook. An acquaintance from work that you add will not comment on your pictures to tell you that you're ugly. Myspace is far more buggy and more likely to cause identity theft or contribute to adding spyware on your computer since it has had security problems from the beginning. Plus Facebook's design is a lot nicer and less cluttered and has less ads in your face. And there isn't annoying auto play music on profiles. And Myspace's privacy settings are not as good as Facebook's. IP: Logged |
