Warning: this may offend/annoy some of you but others might find it interesting, I guess its channelling but you are free to think what you like of course. The following may have been a 'to do list' of a bachelor from times around the sixteenth century in England(he's going on a journey soon)...
'Marking floss set' (to do list, along the lines of a stitch in time saves nine)
-Ferrous dust to clasp inset(to brighten)
-Clasp(for cloak)caked in annealed slake(to clean)
-Bark from hollow log(pulverised wadsworth(?) kept in skin sacking and mixed with milk when needed for chilblains)
-Charred blocks for marking(charcoal made for use to mark trees when journeying so you can find your way back)
-Cat's claw dipped in paint(when needed to sign something you dip the dry end in a little oil)
-Parrot fashion, old man's ballad(learn some more good love songs to share with the lads at the, tongue in cheek,'Wet man's whistle')
-Putty squeeze in frame around window(get thistle(?) sap and mix with fine saw paper(dust)then push in around frame to keep the weather out)
-Noggin belts in rack for shelving(some hammered in things to support shelves to keep stuff up away from rats)
-Barton for a pail(make a pail out of a sheet of tin)
Cossey(?)list(shopping list - and the bill will be put on a wooden ladder rung and given to his landlord to pay(?))
- illuminum(?)wire (for fixing like chair/table legs and things)
- batan (for bloke's 'split'[eek] to keep clean - soft cottony fibre dipped in red wine vinegar to clean the appendage)
- gravel(bluestone - for washing tonsure maille(r)[fine metal mesh for shaving head])
-tipsten for a joke(something on hand to give to a lady if the occasion arises[to gain her favour], powdered lavender bath salts kept in a small linen bag)Wow, is that all they needed in those days, times must have been tough!
-ermine softly puts a packet on(in otherwords, if there's any low priced ermine fur gloves he's gonna get some)
yeah so, I luv this stuff but can understand why there are discrepancies at times because the in depth translation can be draining and sometimes you can end up filling in the details yourself just through becoming weary of trying to understand...and maybe the tiring nature of it goes both ways...
This is the only place that I maybe can not cause too much of a problem to unleash some of these images. It's so fascinating at times that I just have to tell someone.
But I don't want any fuss ever and probably most of you will think I am looney and outa my tree anyhow.
