It is not about purging.
It about embracing it all.
Knowing thyself.
Learning from our mistakes.
Not throwing it all away.
But living through it, and growing beyond it.
Saying to ourselves,
that was then,
I remember,
I do not deny anything,
That is true about me, to myself.
I embrace, love and understand and have compassion for who I have been.
I renew myself in the now and will continue to do so.
But I will not deny or reject/purge the former self of my being. That aspect does not run my life now, unless I let it do so.
I love it, understand it, forgive it, and live each day afresh as the renewed self.

definition of purge:
purge (pûrj)
v. purged, purg·ing, purg·es
v.tr.
1.
a. To free from impurities; purify.
b. To remove (impurities and other elements) by or as if by cleansing.
2. To rid of sin, guilt, or defilement.
3. Law To clear (a person) of a charge or an imputation. Often used with respect to contempt of court.
4.
a. To rid (a nation or political party, for example) of people considered undesirable.
b. To get rid of (people considered undesirable). See Synonyms at eliminate.
5. Medicine
a. To cause evacuation of (the bowels).
b. To induce evacuation of the bowels in (an individual).
v.intr.
1. To become pure or clean.
2. Medicine To undergo or cause an emptying of the bowels.
n.
1. The act or process of purging.
2. Something that purges, especially a medicinal purgative.

LEXX,

Hmm...

What if I lived in Germany circa 1937.

And I told you I wanted to move to America,
to avoid the political atmosphere of the Third Reich,
which is, simply, not in harmony with my beliefs...

Would you say that I was running away?
Would you say I was throwing it all away?
Would you tell me to stay and accept my "destiny"?

Come on.

"Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there's a girl out there
with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane,
never let them tell you that it's all the same."

~ Zofo

As for "purging"...

Sounds like semantics.

What you describe is how I see it,
though I may use different words.

I think I'm handling it alright.

But, thank you.

Take care,
HSC

lol

Why is LEXX getting a thousand thumbsup
for finding fault with the purest thing
I have accomplished in the past month?

How about:
"Good for you, Steve.
We're glad you pulled through."

What exactly is wrong about my realization
that my former attitudes were a burden,
and I am purged by shedding them,
and focusing on higher things?

Was this really the time to give me a bheart
and a lecture on how to "purge without purging"?

Honestly.

I'm just saying.

I pulled myself out of a tailspin.

And you withold praise for that.

LEXX finds fault, and gets the gold star?

Okay.

Gonna go read my book now.

Take care, gals.

No hard feelings.

I just dont get it, that's all.

I'm doing my best.

peace

no hsc - what you said and wrote was no less than, amazing, profound, and possibly one of your best musings.

what lexx replied was also very well put and the thumbs up were not negating what you said. mine wernt anyway, it was more saying, i knwo i am not perfect, i embrace my weakness, therin lies my strength. in and of itself also profound and important. it does not take away from what you wrote. at all.

to me they are freinds that hold hands and are comfortable in silence.

Stephen, you are a beautiful soul...an a$$hole at times too, but all in all, I love you!

And yes, you are eloquent, erudite, magnificently intelligent and all the rest of it...but at the same time, you're not perfect... ....It's about us all shining together...not trying to outshine each other...easier said than done I know, but read the Celestine Prophecy folks- it resonates......

If you don't what I wrote here, just spank me for it.

Huh????????????????????
I do not know where all that came from, but I would have said..
"move as quick as you can!"
That is simply logical.
Like if you are stuck on the railroad tracks in your car.....
do you stay in the car and die, or do you jump and save your life?
You jump!
Waaaay out on a long limb comparing all that to suicides and purging.
