using page 100 [no better way to explain it!]..........then it happened Suddenly, without warning, I was enveloped in a velvetlike cloud of heavy silence, that grew...and grew...seeming to wrap itself around the (room) like a smothering blanket. Even the hum of the (computer) sounded muffled...somehow distant, far away. For a measureless time the silence remained until it became uncomfortable... certainly very thought-provoking! And IT WAS twenty minutes until the hour -our time - when I read the phrase! anyone else......? IP: Logged |

whoa! LTD that was rather AMAZING! Bravo! I still cant get over the violence that really seethes from "the meek shall inherit the earth." its completely contradicts the 'meaning' of the phrase. anyone have thoughts or what to spiral a bit on this? perhaps i'll tackle it later... isis IP: Logged |

Whoa!!! I just went back and re-read everyone's lexies and they are all FANTASTIC!! I especially like the Helter- Skelter portion. I remember when Helter-Skelter filled my every nightmare.....it was so horrible and all the Manson followers were so terrifying. B-r-r-r-r-r (goosebumps) at the thought!!! ------------------ Hugs,LTD ~~The struggle keeps us young~~Daring to make mistakes and knowing there are none.~~DGM IP: Logged |

Thanks Isis Moon.......I think the meek inherit the Earth, because they do not participate in the hate and violence, as others do. While the chaos is all around them, they just keep being themselves and eventually wind up winners.Think of the quiet kids in school....always being picked on, always watching the "bad" kids misbehave, always on the periphery, but in the end, they become our attorneys, our doctors, our senators, etc, etc. What do you think? ------------------ Hugs,LTD ~~The struggle keeps us young~~Daring to make mistakes and knowing there are none.~~DGM IP: Logged |

Think about a tornado, hurricane, any sort of storm...the place that is the calmest is "the eye of the storm". Much of the violence in school today is done by kids who are picked on, maybe that's why there is so much violence coming out in these lexis? kids who are calm on the surface but underneath the facade there is rage and anger. I know from personal experience, from a close friend that when you are treated badly by peers and made fun of, beaten up, etc etc, for year after year, the one thing you'd like to do is kill all these people and hurt htem the way they have hurt you. Maybe the phrase is instructional in that to become one with the earth, you must become one with yours-elf? I'm jsut rambling I guess. Anyone else have any ideas?Amanda ------------------ There comes a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part, you can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies on the gears, and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus. And you've got to make it stop. Mario Savio IP: Logged |

amanda, i LOVE the eye of the storm analogy you just came up with. yes that makes alot of sense why meek is at the core of such strong negativity (as seen in all of our lexis, which are all so brilliant and beautiful and unique)... Although there certainly are qualities within 'the meek' that are beautiful and 'positive'...and i totally agree with LTD about the quiet kids inheriting the world in the end (especially since i am one!)...BUT...there are also hints of subservience and inferiority within that word, meek. A sense of denying a part of your true elf...walking around with your eyes on the ground, tentatively smiling and nodding, living by the "rules" and never thinking beyond black and white, right and wrong...hoping that if you "do good" and do what "they" tell you, you'll end up all smug and happy in heaven at the end. NO!! i'm rambling here too now... perhaps i'll write more later/soon... isis IP: Logged |

I remember this boy in school, his name is Roy....and he was the butt of everyone's jokes, even the teachers treated him like he was the village idiot. Well, Roy and I were neighbors and we always played together, shared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, shared funny stories....he was a great friend. Well, needless to say, the mean kids picked on me because I played with Roy. We remained close friends past high school and guess what? He is the most renowned Heart Surgeon in the Southwest!!!!! I am sure all the teachers, if they are still alive, could crawl in a hole and die!!!I agree, that meek does carry subservience with it......but think of all the meek kids in school.....weren't they so eager to please, eager to be accepted and loved? Now I am rambling too!!! ------------------ Hugs,LTD ~~The struggle keeps us young~~Daring to make mistakes and knowing there are none.~~DGM IP: Logged |

i want to share pb&J sandwiches with roy too!!! i think ultimately a new term should be found, that carries all the wonderful qualities of meek without all of the stuff that came through with the lexis. because, as i all too well know, when you are meek and bottle in everything (knowingly or unknowingly), a very dangerous and destructive energy gets trapped... that's what i think the lexis are trying to communicate/caution, the eye of the storm idea that amanda was talking about. Being meek is not the idea/ideal...trying to think of a word to replace meek....all i get is just to Be Your Elf! isis IP: Logged |
