She dared. Actually, SHE double dared.

She wolfed down TWO poppy seed bagels with onion and chive cream cheese that was also, itself, on the verge of a moldy demise. She then heard her health food nut of a mother's voice in the background saying, "Chew, chew, chew. Chew your food good." and "Bagels are bad. Theyre too refined. Here, have a rice cake."

She declined and continued eating the bagel.

It was the BEST bagel she had ever eaten.
"That was the best bagel I've ever eaten" exclaimed Dorothy wildly as she threw her arms around in excitement.
Just then she noticed a caterpillar on the windowsill laughing and pointing.
'My dear dont you know how silly you look'
"I dont care" she said
"I think I'll go outside and find some real friends" Dorothy said quietly, now rather composed, but unhappy.
