Reading from A Course in Miracles today. Came to a section called, The End of Doubt.

The word DOUBT caught my attention and sent me on a spiral. Silent letters always hook me.

Online Etymology Dictionary explained the B being added. Of course, we know the word druids inspired the scholars who added it!

Numbers didn't give me much. Plus I prefer western numerology. Don't want to offend those loyal to Linda's system.

B=2 cooperation. No light bulbs.

Lexi:
U DO, BUT.....
U DO, BUT.....
U DO, BUT.....

Reverse Lexi:
TROUBLED contains the word DOUBT
Very similar vibration/frequency

Does the B stand for another word?

BELIEVE: When we Believe something, there's still room for doubt. When we Know something, no doubt is possible. (Know-another silent letter!)

BAR, BONDAGE, BIND, BOUND: Each negative e-motion (energy in motion)--doubt, fear, anger, hatred, guilt--forms a bar in a self inflicted prison cell. BARRIER.

KNOW has a silent letter too. KEY to the KINGDOM of NOW! Many of the silent K words are rather cosmic (or Kosmic? )

K--11th letter of the alphabet:spiritual teacher. Teach us K!

Must be some positive B words too. It can be good to doubt and question some of the illusions on our paths. Hmmmmm. BRAVE?

Roll call, Knowflakes! What does the B mean?

Love to All!

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?l=d&p=16

quote:
doubt Look up doubt at Dictionary.com
c.1225, from O.Fr. douter, from L. dubitare "hesitate, waver in opinion" (related to dubius "uncertain"), originally "to have to choose between two things." The sense of "fear" developed in O.Fr. and was passed on to Eng. The -b- was restored 14c. by scribes in imitation of L. Replaced O.E. tweogan (noun twynung), from tweon "two," on notion of "of two minds" or the choice of two implied in L. dubitare (cf. Ger. Zweifel "doubt," from zwei "two").

And so there it is
DOUBT=DUO
DO BOUT TO DUO
TO DO OUT DOUBT
OUT DO TO
DUO DOUBT "DO"

Thanks for all the great ideas, fayte.m!

Yes, I saw all the twos in the etymology entry. Doubt comes from a split mind. But I completely missed the DUO!

And thanks for all the positive B words too. I like BENEFIT the best for unraveling the meaning of DOUBT. Doubt can be a BENEFIT as well as a BARRIER.

The silent K words were singing to me when I woke up this morning. They were singing of joining and/or dividing.

KNOW, KNOWLEDGE, KNACK---joining of ideas

KNEE---joint, joining two bones together

KNIT---joining yarns often into something beautiful

KNIGHT---can join his brothers in service or divide and conquer his enemies

KNOB & KNOCKER---dealing with doors which can either join two spaces or divide them depending on your point of view

KNIFE---definitely divides things!

Knot---joining two strands of whatever

The eleven of K can also teach us about it's core number 2. Joining and division.

Hi Randall!

Life is gOOd. Love to All!

Interesting spiraling, Skyhawk!

I find it interesting to think if doubt is necessary for knowing truth. It could easily be argued, because of our earthly experiences, that it is necessary. The challenge would be in making the counter-argument. In our human experience, we almost always encounter doubt when looking for truth. But how do you explain an experience that is not commonly human?
