THE VERY BEST WAY! Do you slather them in butter? Sometimes I just pick each one up and nibble like a mouse from but to stem until it gets too tough. Sadly groundhogs and deer like asparagus. I love fresh harvested asparagus!IP: Logged |

I do wonder why the writer of the article inserted the word "to" in second part of the line you quoted. I am not the author of the article. I only re-posted it. No idea what you are referring to.

You shouldn't change another author's words, but if you do, put [sic] after the change.IP: Logged |

You go ahead and fix it if you want to. I still have no idea what you are going on about anyhow. If I missed something; or should have fixed something; in your opinion; then respectfully give details as to the problem and the fix needed; and do not just give cryptic lip and the " razz (stick out tongue)"smilie. I do not see a ha ha moment, or big deal here; so I guess maybe I am missing something in the article; and or definitely with your posts here. IP: Logged |

I agree. So do you have any idea what Kuei is talking about? If indeed I missed something or erred; I would sincerely like to know exactly what it is all about; but without the baiting games and razzing. IP: Logged |

"sic" is an interesting word. quote:
The Latin adverb sic ("thus"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written")[1] inserted immediately after a quoted word or passage, indicates that the quoted matter has been transcribed exactly as found in the source text, complete with any erroneous or archaic spelling, surprising assertion, faulty reasoning, or other matter that might otherwise be taken as an error of transcription.The notation's usual purpose is to inform the reader that any errors or apparent errors in quoted material do not arise from errors in the course of the transcription, but are intentionally reproduced, exactly as they appear in the source text. It is generally placed inside square brackets, to signal that it is not part of the quoted matter; and is traditionally printed in italics, as is customary with foreign words. Sic may also be used derisively, to call attention to the original writer's spelling mistakes or erroneous logic.[2]

Ok... Pretty confused now![1]: The original author of the article MADE a typo when they first wrote it... Clearly it's a mistake, a typing goof! [2]: The ONLY reason I asked in the first place was because I thought that you Lexx, that you had accidentally made a typing goof! You can fix it I guess as Randall suggested, but if it doesnt bother you then it doesnt matter. Hope that's clearer. ------------------ You can't handle my level of Tinfoil! ~ {;,;} IP: Logged |

Thank you for explaining. Please point the typo out for me. My vision is too limited too often of late to proof in detail all that I cut and paste. What bothers me however is that you seemed to take an odd delight in believing that you were catching me making a typo. Why is that so? As my vision and dexterity continue to fail; yes, I will eventually make more typos. Hopefully I shall catch them and or folks will be kind enough to tell me so that I can fix them. However; Before it gets too bad; I shall respectfully tell Randall that I must resign my modship (and leave LL) due to inability to function up to par and or enjoy myself.Again; please point out the typo you are referring to. Or I shall get out a magnifier or increase size on monitor and try to find it; merely out of curiosity now. However you pointing out the exact typo would save me valuable time. PS. Since the topic has switched to the issue of typos however; Here are three of yours. quote: Originally posted by Lei_Kuei: Ok... Pretty confused now!
OK is abbreviated as "OK", and not as "Ok". Or it is fully written out as "okay". quote: Originally posted by Lei_Kuei: You can fix it I guess as Randall suggested, but if it doesnt bother you then it doesnt matter.
The contraction for the words; "does not", is spelled "doesn't", not "doesnt".IP: Logged |

Note: The original article I cut, copied, and pasted had an error; the word "to" was inserted in the following: quote: 3. I love cooking, my dogs, and my family. vs. I love to cooking my dogs and my family. Normal: I love cooking, my dogs, and my family. Cannibalistic: I love cooking my dogs and my family.
Since the error has been since fixed at the website; by the author of the article I assume; I have deleted the odd drop in "to" from my cut copy and paste post of that article used at the beginning of this thread.

I'm sorry that your vision is impaired on occasion, I completely forget sometimes. I literally looked at this board before going to bed a few nights ago and only tried to help. I know you can miss humour at times, but just so you can understand what I was thinking at the time when I posted; Here is what happened. The first one I used, the laugh... That was me being nervously embarrassed, and hoping you wouldn't get mad at me for pointing out the typo. You seem to be upset with me anyways so I failed there. The second one... the “tongue stickout”... Again, I gave it less than 2 seconds of thought when typing, didn't mean for it to be misinterpreted. In my mind, it was me making a silly face... I thought you would giggle at it...  I failed there again. You didn't make a typo, ONLY the author of the original article did! And as you said yourself, you too wondered why there was an extra “to” thrown in when it seemed so out of place. I hope that's clearer, sorry you are not feeling the best. Sorry I've added to your woes today. And yes, I checked the article again myself... They fixed it also, it really was just a typo by the author! Everything is fixed, no reason at all to be upset, are we ok!? ------------------ You can't handle my level of Tinfoil! ~ {;,;}

Lei_Kuei I did not need all the extraneous nonsense that was directed at me here. From hereon; point out any typos simply. No more gloating/giggles/laughing/and assumptions. You of all people should have known better. Next time e-mail me rather than go at me publicly when we both know that razzing me had nothing to do with this thread; It is because of my decision to avoid you everywhere except for here at LL. Nuff said. C'est la vie IP: Logged |

Yes it is. I do not remember whether I copy/cut/pasted straight from facebook or the site. So who knows where the original error was. They are really nice and appreciate folks helping them fix errors by simply pointing them out. I like my typos pointed out so that I may correct them. However I did not need all the extraneous nonsense that was directed at me here. I had not caught on to that I was being goaded by LK because I have been avoiding him for almost three years; except for here at LL. It won't happen again.

Back to topic, Lexx, I have a problem with using either then or than. When you feel up to it, I'd like your opinion.

Been out a lot trying to cope with the bitter cold here. Hopefully we can get a heating system before next Winter. So the words then and than are confusing to you? Those words are confusing to many folks! English can be rather confusing for sure!This link takes you to a page that may help you understand the differences between then and than. http://www.diffen.com/difference/Than_vs_Then Please feel free to ask me if you have more questions you need to ask, so that I can try to help you understand. ___________________________________ IP: Logged |
