The grandparents and others
who got me started doing

Lexigramming/Lexagramming
Were born between the
years of
1866 1893 and 1896!
Betwixt 156 years and
126 years ago to date!😎💕
Those folks were born
long before Linda was born
And long before
She learned of Lexigramming.
I wonder why she had not
known about this form
of wordplay until she
claimed to have discovered it?
Lexigrams and Anagrams
had already been around centuries
and even millennia before.
I had been doing them for
some 15 years myself
Long before she was credited
for inventing them.
If the internet and
even computers had
Been in existence far earlier,
more people would have already
known of Lexigrams
and would have been doing them.
Before television folks use to
sit around playing such
word play games and all.
I grew up without television
for most of my first 23 years or so.

A Short History of LEXIGRAMMING and ANAGRAMMING,

plus DIVINATION by words and letters in the MANTIC ARTS.

Lexigrams have been around since ancient times.
Lexigramming and Anagramming and were popular word play games at the turn of the 19th.& 20th. centuries.
However…
Many folks heard about Lexigrams by way of Linda Goodman’s
chapter….not a book…about her personal experiences with discovering them.
The word LEXIGRAM(S) was already being used in ape/primate communication studies
before she then later applied the term to this free form style of word play.
NOTE:
This form of word play has been around as long as Anagramming, which is thought to have “officially” begun with the Greek poet Lycophron.

Lexigramming was however, most likely, already a popular past time, which Lycophron simply documented and is thereby remembered for it.

Lexigrammed and Anagrammed; calling it various names;
as far back as anyone living remembered;
back to the early 1800s or late 1700s.
Like myself and my spouse;
they learned about Lexigramming and Anagramming from their ancestors who were likely taught them by their ancestors...and going back thousands of years.

LEXAGRAMMES and LEXAGRAMMING.
My partner’s family called it for at least as far back as the early 1900s:
LEXAGRAMS and LEXAGRAMMING.
A friend who would be over 110 years old if she were alive today..
called it:
NAME/WORD SCRAMBLE…(not SCRABBLE.)

BREAKOUT WORDS
MYSTERY WORDS
DECODER
SHAKEUPWORDS...(a homemade game where pennies with letters marked on them are put in a jar or can, shook, dumped, then each player takes 50 tiles or lettered pennies and sees who can get the most words the fastest. There are two ways to play, and if anyone is interested I will describe it.

IT IS VERY ANCIENT!

There is no such thing as a stupid question. It is how we can learn and teach.
I had to chuckle when you spelled ANAGRAMS with a letter I instead of a letter A for the second vowel within the term ANAGRAMS🌝
Most folks do not know this and I was rather surprised too at these following facts😲
When the word Lexigram is googled it will not show up with the definition one would expect due to Linda Goodman's using the word for what she termed lexigrams in error,
innocently of course but still an error.
The dictionary definition for the word LEXIGRAM is for the ape language studies and symbols used in pictographic language.
See links in next post.
It is also a medical term for a type of medical graphing chart.
Hence there is no entry yet for the word LEXIGRAM to be defined as Linda defined the term.
I have been trying to get any legitimate dictionaries to add it to their dictionaries and thesauruses.😎
I need to give that effort another go,
so maybe it will become a real definition for this form of word play and divination and study and so forth.😎
The spelling that were used in decades past, going back at least to the 1800's, was with a letter A and not a letter I.
LEXAGRAMS VS LEXIGRAMS📝✍️🖋️🖊️🔠🔡🔤
Other words used for this art, which I learned from my great grandparents were LEXAGRAMMES, LEXAFUN, LEXAFUNNIES, LEXAPLAY, LEXCODES, LEXACODING and many other variations.
Never saw it spelled with the letter I as Linda Goodman spelled it as LEXIGRAM or LEXIGRAMS until I joined Lindaland on March 19th. 2005.
Just like the very ancient wordplay or word study of ANAGRAMMING, which uses the letter A for the second vowel n the word anAgram,
so it did and does logically for the word LEXAGRAMS, before Linda innocently and accidentally began calling them LEXIGRAMS.
I shall elaborate ASAP more as to the etymology of the use of the letter A instead of the letter I for naming the art correctly.😎
