WE ARE TOTALLY LEXCITED AT OUR HOUSE!
It concerns Lexigrams/Lexigramming!

However the thing I wanted to share at the moment is this:
showing what it is like to be in Lexigram/Lexigramming mode awake and whilst dreaming and the unexpected and sometimes amusing and cool side effects that mindset causes at times.

I was writing a message to someone about Lexigrammming etc:
and accidentally typed this
Lexcitement
instead of excitement!
So now we have words to describe our mutual Lexigrams/Lexigramming Passions!
LEXCITEMENT
LEXCITING
LEXCITED
LEXCITE
ŠTM
and many more will post later!

Nothing to do with Lexigrams;
but a VERY cool thing happened yesterday evening.
I was fretting and going nutters because we are already in the hole money wise this month....and absolutely no money until November.:'(
Then this we were given;
at a "out in the sticks public hall....
FOR FREE!
and they even helped put it in our car............

300 pounds of cooking onions!
110 pounds nice russets and Idaho potatoes!
5 big cabbages!
Bushel of fancy Delicious species ruby red apples!
ALL FOR FREE!

Sooooo.....
we shall be eating weird here but not going to starve!
Onion and or Potato soup
Fried onions, caramelized onions, creamed onions, onions are very versatile and can be used in thousands of ways!
Potatoes boiled, baked, fried, mashed, soups, chowder, hash browns, salads, and so much more!
Cabbage...together with the onions and potatoes; and bought some kielbasa and carrots on credit to use with all the free vegetables!
Apples; raw, baked, pies, crisps, caramel-ed, bread puddings, muffins, pancakes and much more!
Tomatoes;
Most raw, but will cook any that are going to go bad.
So that makes, stuffed baked, breaded crock pot tomatoes, tomato/spaghetti sauce, taco sauce, stewed, diced and cooked, and much more!

There was FREE vegetables and fruits for them to give away to poor folks such as us;
for 1 and 1/2 hours yesterday evening.

Going to try and dry some of the onions.
Wish I had a freezer to just freeze up a few pounds of veggies.
All we have is the tiny freezer in the refrigerator.

All that free food would have cost an awful lot.
Market value of about $535 in veggies and fruit.
It is an awful lot of produce;
but when they do not get enough poor folks coming to get it;
they give what is left to pig farmers to feed to their pigs.
So we took so much because we need it more than pigs.
Also onions and potatoes can be stored for planting in the Spring!
I need to see if they would Winter over if I planted them in the fall.

A Lexigram about onions is coming!
Working on it!
Oddly I actually like peeling and cutting up onions.
They clear my head; and make my eyes not be so dry.

I would totally make some sauerkraut and kimchi with that cabbage.

Glad to hear of the cosmic food drop in the time of need.

Sigh;
only six cabbages this time.
A few years ago we got some 30 huge heads; big as; or; bigger than a bowling ball!
Made all kinds of Kraut and Kimchi
etcetera.
So just eating it as coleslaw, stuffed cabbage, adding it to tomato sauce, and pretty much any vegetables! Cabbage "disappears in spaghetti and other sauces.
Even add to chili or eat as a dessert with honey pineapple and chopped walnut
add mayonnaise. cool whip or yogurt.

Definitely!
Now if only our disabled bodies were not so...disabled.
Sigh.
Have cooked up froze etc. some 60 pounds of potatoes. About 65 pounds more to do. It took about 5 hours to do a variety of things with the first batch.
Those weights are pre-processing; so much less after peeling and cooking etc.
Onions even more so. They shrink away to about 1/5th of their starting weight when cooked.
Exhausting to say the least.
I reweighed it all the spuds and I underestimated!
130 pounds potatoes; not 110 pounds.
And oh my!
Not 300 pounds of onions;
seems to be lots more!
Will reweigh later.

Know any good recipes for onions?
Looking to chutneys or pickled or......
I wonder if they can be dried without a dehydrator?

Yes
ate up all the potatoes just a few days ago;
Good thing we like potatoes made all kinds of ways.
Been steady using the onions.
Lots more to go.
Apples and onions are storing well.
Almost done with the cabbages.
Was going to go for more at the monthly free produce freebies;
but we are both too physically in pain to go.
Missed it in November too.
With weather getting colder;
we may not get out to any until Spring.

What an exhilarating post!!!
I ENJOYED that VERY much!

Lexxi! ?? .. Why don't you contact the ones from the public-meeting? Maybe they have OTHER extras that you didn't know about now? OR maybe, it will give them the idea to have another food giveaway? Usually around the holidays, they do that.

There are some Compassion Organizations who (spiritually) engage in the 'practice' of Giving at this time.

There's other things too---
I had gone by the metaphysical shop a few months ago.
They have a statue to Ganesh that visitors tuck cash and coins into.
I believe that the particular store gives away money to folks who are in attendance of their programs.

I have NO idea what's available in that way in your current locality.

What I'm trying to say is that various belief-systems have the Heart-tradition to help folks in need in their area.

If you are food-insecure, I'd have no doubts that SOME folks there would offer, or, connect to places that do.

There are LOTS of Very Kind People out there-- some in plain sight, while others are tucked away, belonging to special interests groups.

You might even go to your grocery store manager. We have chain grocery stores here that are very involved in community service. Let them know you'll be needing food?

Also! Any senior places might know where you can hook-up with supplies?

Onions-------
Last summer, I enjoyed pieces of something called a "Blooming Onion".
It was very delicious.

Lots of Love to you Lexxi!

Thank you for the bump up Randall!
Sigh;
been bed bound again.

mirage29
Thank you but no; pretty much nothing for folks like me and my spouse.
Seriously;
it is petty much Christians and folks with kids; the more the better who get all kinds of help.
Sad but true.
Elderly disabled non Christian folks are not on the standard lists of people to help.
Most places are also out of funds.
Facilities that help if folks have no heat do not have the means to house disabled elderly.
We are just doing as always;
wearing hats coats gloves etc. inside.
Cats help provide some warmth.

Ugh;
what religions in our area do is drive around in huge buses and put go to hell pamphlets on doors unless you go to which ever church they are from.
Others not so rude are simply out of funds no matter who one is.
Oh yeah;
as I said before;
unless you have a litter of children.

Thank you for your kind thought and advice.
Best we do not go public and bring ourselves to the attention of the "city".
When we complain and ask around too much for help;
it has and can get even uglier; very ugly in fact; from rich folks who look down on folks such as us; and want to drive us out; homeless does not matter to them.
We have been in the past threatened with being kicked out to the streets or worse for our derelict abode/yard etc.
Like at times when we are both too ill to mow grass etc.
The city fines folks $100.00 for having tall grass; ad even worse is done to folks with old windows/doors etc.
We just plod on as best we can.
With luck we might have a few chances to lift ourselves out of this poverty.
Unfortunately it takes money to make money and credit to try to do so and live on; is a dangerous road we have no choice but to travel.
Wish us good fortune please!
