This weekend I had to write a paper about a topic that I felt strongly about, so I chose environmentalism. I did some research about the ecological footprint and thought I should share it here and also provide a link to the quiz. "The ecological footprint is the number of acres of biologically productive land and sea space that each person consumes in natural resources per year. Fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas are over used and not renewable. As the world’s population increases, more people use more, and the earth is in a deficit of natural resources which it cannot regenerate. Worldwide, there exists 4.5 biologically productive acres per person, however, the average American uses 23.5 acres, while Africans use only 2.5 acres. As stated by Richard Mott, the World Wildlife Foundation’s Vice President for International Policy: “We are spending nature’s capital much faster than it can be regenerated. Collectively, we are bequeathing to our children the most dangerous budget deficit of all, an ecological debt of growing proportions.” Everything on earth is an important member of ecology. We are dependant on our environment, but are we saving it? People can learn to make more of an effort to support environmentalism. By reducing pollution, buying earth friendly products, recycling, and conserving natural resources such as water and electricity, people can help to save our precious planet." (That was only part of my paper, but you get the point). Please, no one copy it or plagiarise me. Everyone, please click here to take your ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT QUIZ You'll be glad you did, it is so interesting, and a subject very close to my heart!~Thank you~ IP: Logged |
