So, we got 2 feet of snow, all signs of Halloween, have been covered, by a beautiful white blanketcome on, it's to early, really I went without power for 20 hours luckily last week, something urged me to spend 20 bucks on candles so Ok I forgot batteries fortunatley flashlights were working but that's the next thing I'll buy what we did we played twister we drew pictures we sang songs played checkers snowboarded, well my girls did i tried we ate cheese and crackers had nothing to cook with note to self, buy a gas grill ate all the brownies I made right before the power went out we had a fashion show by candle light we had so much fun I'm glad we've come this far it could of gotten nasty but we kept it light and filled with love so, what will you do if the power goes out? Are you ready? I wasn't, I don't even have a shovel yet, I broke last years, and I haven't replaced it. Love and Light to ALL IP: Logged |

Wow, lotus! Snow! We have flashlights, and candles in case the power goes out. We have a Lopi fireplace stove insert, in case we need to cook. What I really need to do is prepare my earthquake kit. Calif. is long overdue for a major earthquake and the faultlines run right through major populated areas. I really feel that all the disasters that are happening in the States with the Hurricane, and other earthquakes all over the world are signals and signs to "prepare". IP: Logged |

Hi Nephthys,Happy Halloween! the snow is actually melting today, 50 F but now it's completely a grey sky This is going to sound stupid, but I've always wanted to ask someone who lived in California, why they do, when they know there could be an earthquake, I don't mean any harm by this you see, I would never choose to live in California, for that simple reason Have you thought about moving? Gosh, I hope I haven't offended you. Love and Light to YOU IP: Logged |

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Are you kidding, why would I be offended by that. Anyhow, it is a great question, like why would anyone live below sea level, like in New Orleans. Well to start with I was born and raised in the county and town I live in now. At this point in time, I am going to school and not working, so I am not self-supportive at this point to just decide to move somewhere else. I like my town, although the traffic and population here is overwhelming. My ideal would be to live in the country, with a forest as my backyard, with animals, far away from big cities. I have thought of and dreamed of living elsewhere, but it is not possible at this point. Also, my Mom lives here and I would never leave her alone, if I moved I would want her to come with me. She is working full time and would be hard to convince to move. Her house is great. My parents had put a lot of work into it, remodeling, gardening, upkeep, etc. I don't like cold weather; right now it's 60 degrees, and I just returned from taking my dog for a walk. It was windy and my ears and head were so cold I couldn't stand it. The cold wind makes my eyes tear and my nose run and I just couldn't wait to get back home. I would like to live in a warm climate. Perhaps that doesn't answer the question well enough. When I was younger it was very common to have earthquakes. The house I live in is situated on rock. If there is a major earthquake here, I think the house would not be severly damaged; I do believe certain areas that have dirt, soot, or mud as foundation will greatly suffer. I don't know, I guess I can't completely answer your question. IP: Logged |

Nephthys, thanks for your answer, it sounds like you are safe to me. and yes, I dislike the cold also, but 4 seasons are fun. I have a 10 1/2 room house here, 6 bedrooms, and I pay $550.00 month, with heat, hot water, and electricity included In N.H. Last year, for a 2 bedroom duplex, I paid $1,100.00 a month, with nothing included isn't that crazy, I was working just to support a roof over my head, and never mind other things. How's the cost of living in California? Love and Light to ALL IP: Logged |

"I have a 10 1/2 room house here, 6 bedrooms, and I pay $550.00 month, with heat, hot water, and electricity included" WOW! That's great Lotus. We did have a power out recently. My biggest concern was all the food we had in a freezer we just bought that day. I wouldn't know what to do if it was a long outage.------------------ Watch me! I have many skills. IP: Logged |

Lotus Your house sounds like a mansion! Wow! Is it like a farm house? The cost of living here in Calif. is HIGH. I live in Marin County, one of the costliest counties in the whole nation, I think. Rent is ferocious, you can't get a studio or 1 bedroom apartment for less that $1500 I believe. Houses are very expensive. The house around the corner sold this summer for $1.2 million. The house next door is going up for sale this weekend ( I'm so sad about it, but that's another story) and it's going for $850k. My mother told the realtor today that he should be asking much more than $850k for it. IP: Logged |

Oh my Gosh, that is crazy Nephthys I live in the house, that was built for the nun's, I have a confessional in my living room, with the little sliding window, to talk through, hehe. That's one of the reasons I moved to Canada, The U.S. cost of living is out of control, it doesn't make sense to have to struggle so hard, to make ends meet. Although I'm sad and lonely out here, I want to move back, but finding something affordable is difficult. Svetlana, how are you, you dear sweet soul, yes $550.00 a month is really a miracle, for all this room, I have 3 empty bedrooms, hehe Love and Light to ALL IP: Logged |

That sounded yummythe house I can't go in my attic, there is a bad spirit there, he smacked a book over my head, needless to say I stay out of there the nun's are fine, very shy, they have a big secret, has to do with the attic guy pregnanies, they gave birth up there, children were adopted anyway, it makes me sad, and I tell them to move on, some have, only 2 nun's are here now, they always move my stuff, they are pretty funny, and I guess I amuse them too. "only 2 nun's are here now, they always move my stuff" --------> Do you mean 2 alive nuns or 2 spirits of nuns??? What did you do when that nasty spirit bonked you on the head? You can tell him to leave, that he is not welcome there. What did you have for dinner, Randall? (You are always asking me what I had) Tonight I shall be making artichokes, mixed wild/brown rice, and other mixed/sauted veggies. IP: Logged |
