I was wondering if there is a correlation between spirituality, weather, and karma? This could be a great discussion!
For example, do certain "Gods" make it rain? Many cultures pray to/worship Gods of nature, and perform rituals to ask for rain, etc.
What spiritual lessons are we to learn from weather? What are we to learn from long bouts of rain, or drought?
What about group karma and natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes?
Just trying to spiral ideas here!

When I was in Miami in O3, and some witches and I needed the wind to be on our side for the purpose of protecting us from tear gas, we called upon the African Orisha, Oya.
To my wonderment and delight, She came through for us. Those riot cops shot tear gas at us and sure enough, the wind kicked up just then and blew it all right back at 'em.
I kid you not.
It was truly miraculous and I was greatly humbled.

So I'm not sure I have answers to your questions but I'm a believer in weather spirits or Gods and Goddesses..
I'll ponder this issue of karma...

Concentrated group thought can affect the weather. Mother earth is very wise and natural 'disasters' are part of her cleansing process.

We are the God/desses that can make it rain, snow & shine.

We dont have full access to that power yet because we arent at a level where we (as a whole) would choose to use it positively -- yet.

I believe group karma plays a major role in natural disaters. These seeming disasters are big bundles of human consciousness' negative thoughts that manifest or release themselves as what we call disasters. Which are always needed for major growth and change happen. There is alot that plays into it. We are connected very closely to our Mother earth, her grid, her awareness, and by watching her weather patterns and other cycles, we can judge where 'we're at' and the roads we are taking ourselves down, for ultimate evolvement of our species.

Just a few of my thoughts. Great topic, Neph.

Great answers everyone!!!!!

Harpyr, I just recently learned about the Orishas in my Dance Culture class!

Loved your story!

26T I agree with what you said!

Lately, I am learning the lessons of patience, we keep having rain, cold, rain, wind, rain and more rain, a very unusually long lengthy display. Spiritually, I think weather can teach us lessons such as patience, appreciation, glory, goodness, etc.

There are so many cultures that use the weather as spiritual guidance, and also worship natural deities.

Supposedly the USA is the reincarnated Atlantis, of whose inhabitants previous "nation" "sunk" due to a "natural disaster"...........

Yes, it does. So do the trees and clouds and birds. Clouds are one thing that Ive always been able to read very well. Or have spoken to me strongest.
The messages surround us and are always there to be read by people who really want to See.

Ever hear the song, The Wind Cries Mary by Jimi Hendrix?

Linda felt that the weather was a reflection of our combined thoughts, especially natural disasters being related to group negative thinking. Not sure where I read that--probably Star Signs.

No one in this Aquarian age has to live by blind faith. Truth and knowledge should only strengthen your own inner wisdom of how you have come to believe what you do. Within each religion is a metaphysical principle that is divine and also linked to the stars. Throughout time, humankind has looked up to see portents and omens that are messages of how energy is manifesting on Earth. Mercury is inspiring you to see and hear, and then know for yourself.

Just wanted to share this from Shirley Maclaine's website on this week's weekly forecast which can be found here;

I am really scared of 2012
Last night on History channel I watched a documentary about the great prophets such as Cayce, Nostradamus, and some Lady from England, all of which whose prophecies have all come true. The Mayan calendar ends 2012.....and Cayce predicted a major shift in the poles of the earth which will wipe out life/land/civilization about 2012. The Lady from England said that all will die and then a new world will be born.
I believe the prophets because everything they have predicted has come true.
Cayce said we will have many "warnings" that the "time" is coming - these warnings will be extreme forces of nature such as many Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Floods, Volcanoes erupting, etc. Well....HELLOOOO the History channel said the past years Hurricanes are the most the world has ever had. And there's Earthquakes all over the world, and numerous disasters due to weather.
The Prophets said that the cataclysm *could* be prevented by the people's goodwill, BUT I don't see how, what will all the negativity we as a people have created in the world.........such as so many WARS, GREED, SLAVERY, POVERTY, SUFFERING in 3rd world countries where there are 4 million orphans and people starving to death.......while we gorge ourselves on food......and we can't even get this food to them. And let's not forget global warming due to the fossil fuels we have been burning for the past 100 years where industry and technology have taken over, and people have left their "inner world of introspection" to the outer world of video, tech., etc. which is all so shallow.
AAaaaaaah!
(Nephthys a little bit worried and nervous!)

I'm right there with ya, Neph..
When I dwell on all that stuff I get downright freaked!
It's alot of the reason why my main goal is to get into an intentional community with others of like mind who want to grow alot of food and generally try to live as sustainably and independently as possible.. I feel it's very urgent to create some kind of safety net for my children. It may be that the catastrophe coming will be so large that such a net is a futile exercise but I have to atleast try.

Yeah, Harpyr, I would sure like to get away from population and have a HUGE vegetable garden! The prophets said that there will be no survivors - because everything will shift in "the blink of an eye" and the Eastern part of U.S. will be in the ocean, Europe will be gone "in the twinkle of an eye"....etc. The great lakes will spill into the Mississipi river and flood down into the Gulf of Mexico. Etc. Etc.
I also posted this on my earthquake thread:
My earthquake kit is really coming along! I went to the Earthquake Supply Store today and the lady told me that bottled water in plastic only lasts 6 months because the plastic leaches into the water. I learned awhile back about plastics containing estrogens which are bad for cancer........
So she had some packets of H20 that last 5 years! So I got some of those.
The store had good ideas like supplies campers use, little tiny stoves and burners, etc. But hers were too expensive so I'll try to find some on my own.
