This is Helotes, Texas, trying to burn herself down for the second time in the past few months.....

I spent many a teenage years running the streets of Helotes, a beautiful small community just outside the city of San Antonio, bordering the Texas Hill Country. Small neighborhoods, small town, Flores Counrty Store, where Willie Nelson sang (and still does from time to time)...Beautiful hilltop views of San Antonio, just a brief drive to Medina Lake, Pipe Creek and the famous Bandera--"Home of the Cowboy." The magical evenings where all who were near and dear to Helotes would meet in the parking lot of the long-gone Mr. M's food mart and "party" back in the late 70's....The cops left us alone, cause they could keep an eye on us, there.......

Further up the road you meet Grey Forest an enchanted group of old sumer homes where early 20th century San Antonians would flee for the weekend...O, the drive down Scenic Loop road, winding, turning. beckoning you onto the Hill Country!!!

Now the land is raped, used, abused. I know and respect "urbanization" but can not understand why we can not urbanize with respect for the land....

SO many folks call Helotes home. and it is home only to those who LOVE Helotes. All of the sub-divisions that have cropped up around Helotes-------Sorry guys, you do not live in HELOTES and NEVER will.

Helotes is a legacy, an enigma. a blessed place to be respected and worshipped~~~~

And that is what she is trying to say.........

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

And it took 3 months for society to put out the fire...

So many chemicals were used and this area sits upon our aquifer recharge zone...

Don't drink the water in San Antonio or surrounding areas for, O, say a few hundred years or so!
