Ah yep forgot about it's rain potential. Horrifying.I also heard about BP putting work in to get some of that oil for sale, maybe in one of the relief drills, I found that offensive as I just wanted them to fix it, and Obama now saying he wants to know "whose ass to kick for this" is sort of pithy and late in the game for my comfort.. Don't get me started on this - Louisiana is a very large part of my heart and with Katrina and this, my heart is BREAKING.I cannot believe the level of crap from BP. They are even trying to control the info on google: http://theweek.com/article/index/203754/how-bp-is-controlling-google-results ...and they are trying to hide the dead wildlife as well http://climateprogress.org/2010/06/03/bp-oil-spill-dead-animals/ Shameful! And shame on us for being such oil-hungry consumers. This is a reality check for all of us, I think. At least I hope it is. This is one way we can turn this negative into a positive. If I could afford to go to Louisiana for a visit, I would LOVE to volunteer....but I can't afford it Here are ways we can all help: http://www.grist.org/article/2010-06-01-ask-umbra-on-8-things-you-can-do-to-fight-the-BP-gulf-oil-spill/ IP: Logged |

Down near that Katrina disaster too. They weren't very quick at that last time either, it seems.I guess that "A Letter From God" song seems a little more in focus now. F the oil used. You know how much of that part of the planet (and it's population) has been destroyed? No, I don't mean humans. Although, them too. IP: Logged |

perhaps this will make us all a little more aware and compassionate towards the nigerians who have been living in oil for the last 40 odd years. their protests and lawsuits have been brushed aside and swept under the rug by the oil companies and their current life expectancy is about 40 years due to pollution, lack of food, the list goes on...not to mention the burst pipeline in alaska, which cannot be blamed on regulations forcing them into deep water; toxic dumping in texas, and more, the list gets longer every day of crimes committed to "save our profits" - which came to about $5 billion in the first quarter of the year... let's not forget the darkest hour IS before dawn, cliche or not. or that BP is hardly the only oil company guilty of ignoring the environmental effect of their quest... question is are we in the darkest hour yet? I don't even want to think about this stuff - it's horrific. I saw the pictures of bird life fallen victim to this mess, and thought, what the heck had these innocent creatures done to deserve something like this? If it was a purely natural disaster - it would have been just very unfortunate. But this is 100x worse. Bearing in mind the M25 is clogged almost every day with cars, and that there are motorways all over the world like this - makes me VERY glad I don't own a car! (or two...or more...!)IP: Logged |

I don't believe this is just an oil spill. BP is not to blame for a few reasons. Remember this spill is in federal waters!I'd be worried if I lived in florida because I think its highly probable that a 400 mph tsunami will be created from this.
