I used to rarely use large quantities of oil for cooking, but recently my son got on a french fry kick and his father convinced him that the best way to cook em is to deep fry them. So now I have loads of canola oil left over and I am very hesitant to throw it down the drain (like my kid's father says to do) and also hesitant to dump it into the plastic garbage bags, thinking it'll be all over the building's trash compactor. So what do the rest of you do with huge amounts of cooking oil? I need environmentally sound ideas! IP: Logged |

Well, some are using it for car fuel in converted diesels, if one looks in the local craigslist one can usually find someone who can use it.We also use it as BBQ lighter fluid, it takes longer to burn but once it does the fire is very intense. IP: Logged |

I bet there's a local place. Ask some restaurants what they do. The companies who recycle it use it to make lipstick and other cosmetics.IP: Logged |
