Oh, that looks so cozy!I've given up on building fires this year, because half of the wood we got ended up being wet.  So I go out, chop the wood, and realize that it's still damp on the inside, and it takes all day to keep the fire burning. Hrmphh.
Probably why it's better to just go get the wood ourselves next time (and a good reason to go walk around in the forest). Maybe I'll give it another go, though. It's so much better than using the heaters.

We used to go out and get it right about now, as soon as they opened it up, so it had time to season.Of course my ex was a big, strapping lumberjack type. You know flannel shirts, about as tall as the sky, and driving the Four-Wheel Drive car that he welded together himself...  Picture this way up off the ground, on a pick-up frame. IP: Logged |

Ha ha. He sounds a bit like my husband, except that I have to prod him to go to the gym because he works behind a desk all day (poor guy).
Minus the car. He just drives our car to work, and I get stuck driving his gigantic truck around town during the day. We're scheduled to go to a class for building log homes pioneer style in May. We're excited. IP: Logged |

Well, we can hope. Maybe we'll get to put that knowledge to practical use some day... I can dream about us building our log cabin and keeping bees, and making a small living off of honey/beeswax and an organic garden, and he can dream about making a living making children's toys from wood with non-toxic paint. Who knows what the future holds, but we can dream...
