I've failed miserably with most of my plants, so I'll give it one more try. I'll be making lists over the next few months.

Gardening is very hard. You HAVE to fail to learn. I have killed many things, planted many things at the wrong time, so they died and many other fiascoes. You have to be willing to fail, time and time again, in order to be a good gardener imo

What do you grow now, Ami? Thanks to a gardening forum, I might have found peppers and watermelon that will grow in our soil and zone.

Things that grow well in our raised beds:
Parsley, kale, chard, tomatoes, hot peppers, zucchini. Anything that's really simple to grow, really.

Failures:
Everything else.

Cauliflower did well three years ago. Its growth was stunted when the weather grew too hot, but I put it into pots, then back into the ground in August or September, and by early October, I had beautiful cauliflower to pick - it was perfect. I'd like to repeat that success, because cauliflower is up to $6.99 in most places.

I get so excited every Spring - embarrassingly so over seeds and a garden - but I can't keep wasting money that could go towards something else.

Eggplants are actually easy to grow. Like all the nightshade fruits, very easy to grow.

Technically there is only one nightshade vegetable, the potato. The other night shades are fruits because they contain seeds.

.

Homegrown cauliflower must taste delicious picked fresh!

I was just thinking about growing it next year. I was at the store Saturday and saw purple cauliflower and I'm thinking, what the "ef"? I should be growing everything on my own now.

It's hard for me to plan ahead though. I have no idea what I will grow next year. Organic (non gno) and heirlooms are a priority though.

If you can grow all these, you are an amazing winner Teasel!

It's also the way I like my broccoli (unless it's on my salad).

Too cute!
If I'm at the salad bar I always pick out the tiniest pieces.

I had a bunch of tiny pieces on my salad last night! I also like my cucumber slices very thin.
