Never in my life had I imagined that such a bird would be coming to my house again and again, calling me to come out and letting me be so close to him.I first saw him as I was standing outside of the pharmacy and I ran quickly to get into my car, because he was coming towards me with his huge wings. I remember driving back home, entering the garage and not being able to get inside the house, because he was standing at the roof of the car. Maybe you cannot understand it in the picture, but he is really big, especially when he opens his wings. I really don't know if it is he or she. That is fantastic! A couple of summers ago I had 2 hummingbirds fly in my open window. They couldn’t find the way out for hours, until I spread a red cloth in the open doorway with a dish of sugar water in it. First and only time I’ve ever heard a hummingbird chirp.
Heard a hawk calling this morning, but never caught sight of it.IP: Logged |

So many birds today! One red-bellied woodpecker, three bluebirds, and two of something I didn’t recognize.
Thick black stripe on head, thin ones on wings
Bluish-grey back, white cheeks & chest
Rusty-red underside of tail

I have started telling him my name. The short form. Maybe one day he will be able to say it. I always sit with him while he's eating and when sometimes I get into the house to get something for me to eat or drink along with him, he always turns to where I'm going and watches me. I don't know if he came today. I was out all day and just came home. But yesterday as he started eating his sunflowers and as I took my usual seat in the chair he suddenly stopped. He jumped off his usual place and started walking towards me. He came so close to me that his feathers touched my bare feet. I didn't move. I don't know how long this lasted. Then he flew away.
