I think that would be a successful placement, though not necessarily for income. Definitely! My best friend has Mars in Capricorn and she is the most hardworking person I've ever met in my life. I can definitely see her financing the home, not upkeeping it. (Without assuming gender roles or that one person has to work while the other has to stay home).ScorpioMoonRight away, i think of 10th house placements (bread winner) vs 4th house placements (home maker) And fire/earth dominant people too, i suppose, among others I may not be thinking of right now.PixieJaneI have both tendencies so I can't really speak of myself. And I'm not counting those who may just be doing something because they're told to as that may have nothing to do with natural inclination toward that specifically, nor other reasons that could contribute to that attitude that aren't astrological. But offhand I did think of Lily Allen, who is a Taurus sun, but I think her influences as a singer and independence comes from Libra Moon, Aries mercury & Venus, Gemini Mars, and also the new ways of Aqua Jupiter. A Sag Uranus can also challenge gender roles. I thought of her in relation to this thread because of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l323ezHb-mU Aries23Degrees quote:Originally posted by ScorpioMoon:Right away, i think of 10th house placements (bread winner) vs 4th house placements (home maker) And fire/earth dominant people too, i suppose, among others I may not be thinking of right now.Me too. With the Sun in 4th, the individual finds that they enjoy expressing themselves(Sun) in a home environment(4th house) or creating a space that has a very "familiar" feel to them. The 10th house Sun is very driven to achieve and "conquer" the external world. They may see achievement and making something of themselves as very important. How the individual does the above however, will depend on the signs of the cusp of the 4th and 10th.A 10th house Sun in Libra will use charm, creativity, tact, diplomacy and working with others as a way to spearhead their way to the top. They will feel at their best when they accomplish something/receive a title/award for a job well done. A 4th house Sun in Libra will use those same talents in creating a beautiful home OR be able to create a home away from home -anywhere they go. They will be more concentrated to feeling "internally" content than looking for external achievements or awards.Sagical quote:Originally posted by IV XXIV: Definitely! I have a very strong 8th house Mars in Capricorn and I'm a stay at home mom while he goes and works. With Leo on the IC, I am queen of my castle and run the show at home here. I do all the scheduling and dealing with home care workers com g in and specialist appts for the kids. He has handed over the responsibilities to get all the bills paid etc. I am the master at money in my relationship. Maybe house placements of planets would be stronger than a planet in a sign.Just a thoughtRandallGood topic!bopbop quote:Originally posted by Sagical: Hmmmmmm. I'll probably never have children, but I do like to "run the home", have it looking beautiful, warm and comfortable. I have Venus in the 4th. Mars in a woman's chart can show what kind of men she's attracted to, so that makes sense that your partner would be the "breadwinner" and you'd be comfortable with that (some women aren't). Is he very Saturnine, intense/passionate about his work or a workaholic? That is how my boyfriend is (he also has Mars in Cap but in the 1st house!)This is definitely a 10th/4th house question.pisceskiwiInteresting question. I would say I'm much more a career orientated woman than a full time stay at home Mum, home maker type and I'm not too sure what, in my chart would show this- I have an empty 10th house (except SN), no earth placments and have Uranus in the 4th (maybe that's it). I used to want my man to be a stay at home Dad so I could work full time, as I earn more than him, but am so happy now having two days off a week to spend with my kids & it's a great balance carm76I am both.I run my own daycare business while being a stay at home mom to my 2 children. I also handle the house financials. I have no planets in 10th house. I have Pluto in my 4th house. Also, I believe it comes from my Cancer Asc, moon in Aries and my Sag 6H stellium.bopbop quote:Originally posted by pisceskiwi:Interesting question. I would even go so far as to say I enjoy working for the purpose of improving where I live... like for instance, I'm having new carpeting installed today lolAries MC Mars in Sag trine my MC exactly, Taurus Moon in 10HLibra IC Venus in Aries in 9H Scorp Pluto in 4H quincunx Venuspisceskiwi quote:Originally posted by bopbop: What is the ruler of your 10th house (sign on the 10th house cusp) and where is it in your chart? My 10th house cusp is in Taurus, so ruler being Venus, which in my chart is in Aquarius in 7th house. My career brings me into direct contact with the public, on a one-to-one basis. I also wonder if Saturn on my ascendant (from the 12th house) makes me quite work orientated.I hope the OP doesn't mind me asking this in this forum but I wanted to ask the moderators, if they are happy to answer of course, whether the work here on Lindaland is their sole job or do they work and do this on the side? I don't mean to be nosy; just intrigued. I would imagine a lot of time goes in to this site which would be pretty full on if you had an existing job &/or family. Thanks GeekyWell I have worked at home for the last 13 years to be here with my kids, but I feel I do it out of necessity (needing the income, no family support, etc.).I prefer -- and have always preferred -- the idea of being a homemaker. I am capable of earning, but I had to grow up really fast and I've been in the workforce for a total of 20 years. I feel like I'm always struggling, living paycheck to paycheck, and I really wish my hubby were in a place to be the breadwinner for a while. I feel like I'm missing out on the critical years I have with my kids and it sucks. So what draws me to want to be a homemaker? I am going to guess Moon in H4.------------------“Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.”PixieJane quote:Originally posted by pisceskiwi:if they are happy to answer of course, whether the work here on Lindaland is their sole job or do they work and do this on the side? Luckily, I don't have much to do. As I do have jobs and family to take care of I wouldn't be able to do too much, but I can handle what I am responsible for.FaithI have a 4H NN and have always been drawn to certain elements of housewifery: cooking, gardening, needlepoint, making up herbal remedies, interior design, etc. Plus I adore children: 5H Venus is most likely the ruler of my MC ~ my birth time is reliable but not "official" or exact. My sun is in the Cancer duad of Capricorn, and I share my birthday with Nigella "How to be a Domestic Goddess" Lawson.Still: it's weird being a Capricorn with my south node in the tenth house.

Me too.
How the individual does the above however, will depend on the signs of the cusp of the 4th and 10th.
A 10th house Sun in Libra will use charm, creativity, tact, diplomacy and working with others as a way to spearhead their way to the top.
They will feel at their best when they accomplish something/receive a title/award for a job well done.
A 4th house Sun in Libra will use those same talents in creating a beautiful home OR be able to create a home away from home -anywhere they go.
They will be more concentrated to feeling "internally" content than looking for external achievements or awards.
