I have definitely experienced a bad Composite ruining my relationship despite a decent synastry, so I believe the other way can be said - a good Composite will help a pale synastry.
I think this article explains it well - https://sasstrology.com/2015/09/the-difference-between-synastry-and-composite-aspects.html
"Composite aspects are like natal aspects of a third entity. If you’ve ever been in a relationship that takes on a life of its own, or where you feel like a totally different person, that’s the composite chart in action. The feeling between them will never change. And it will actually grow stronger over time; the longer a couple is together, the stronger all the composite energies become."
In synastry, both parties can adjust themselves to better suit each other, but in a Composite, the energies simply get stronger over time and you can't do anything because it is not your energy on their energy. It's a combined energy enveloping the r/s.
"I receive many enquiries asking what the fix is for a particularly difficult composite aspect. The answer is, there is no fix. You either accept that it will always be part of your relationship (and you and your partner work around it) or you move on."
Real-life e.g.: my friend and her husband have really super synastry aspects (Sun trine Sun, Sun conj/trine Moon, Moon conj Moon, Sun/Moon/Mercury conj Asc, Sun trine Mercury DW) and they're like great friends who understand each other very well... so it puzzles me why they're now separated. So I took a look at their composite and they have Saturn square Moon, quincunx Mercury/Venus. Chiron is also in harsh aspects to Sun/Moon/Venus/Mars and Mars opposes Sun/Mercury/Venus + Pluto square Mercury. What my friend told me was she often shut her husband down emotionally and they were always arguing (can't see eye-to-eye in a lot of important matters including career choices, social lives, educating their kid, etc).
So IMO, bad synastry aspects can be overcome with awareness, effort and a willingness to compromise. But in a Composite, there's like really nothing you can do. Therefore I put more emphasis on Composite. If I see really bad aspects there, I run.
