T O P I C R E V I E WplutonianmenaceDoes a square between Mars and Venus in synastry mean you find the person unattractive and a sign of incompatibility? How does it compare to a conjunction?athenaiaIt could be a slow burn aspect. Certainly not a love-at-first-sight/instant chemistry/whirlwind romance aspect (unless other things support it in the synastry/composite). I have this with someone - double whammy, actually. It took me a long time, I'm talking like nearly 2 decades, but out of nowhere I found them breathtakingly beautiful and became attracted to them. It's like the chemistry was lying dormant this whole time, and then with some prodding it exploded into full bloom. Were it not for this personal experience, I would absolutely believe that Venus/Mars squares would be a sign of repulsion/platonic energy. Maybe it's because the Venus sq Mars DW turns into Venus conjunct Mars in our composite? It's something I turn over in my mind a lot trying to understand it. Never experienced the conjunction (in synastry) romantically. I've experienced people's Mars conjunct my Venus in friendships and it's actually an aspect I hate for some reason which is weird to me. Orangei have had this and after the initial boom and gloom, the passion started to wear down to a level of an actual repulsion. Sex-wise only, i didnt mind their personality but i was never able to get turned on by this person after it reached this level. Also, the timing was always wrong, when one wanted it, the other didnt and vice versa. I dont like this aspect in the long run.athenaia"Also, the timing was always wrong, when one wanted it, the other didnt and vice versa."I can absolutely attest to this teaselI didn’t like mars conjunct my Venus, either (BIL’s mars), but it was also conjunct my moon and south node, and square my own mars in the 4th. People go on about mars conjunct moon being so hot, and it wasn’t at all. At least, not for me. I had mutual mars square Venus with a teen crush, who I later found out was also crushing on me. A few weeks before we moved to the US, and I was so shy, that nothing ended up happening. I wish I’d gone out with him, because if it hadn’t gone well, it didn’t matter: I was moving to California. Hikaru29Still analysing that relationship, I see… plutonianmenaceanalyzing a lot you see GalacticCoreExplosionV2 Imo, Venus square Mars is one of the most intense sexual attraction connections on average after Venus opposite Mars and Venus conjunct Mars. However, it often indicates a deeper incompatibility outside of the bedroom (sometimes also in the bedroom, but the former is more common), and a kind of selfish, taking nature to the interaction on part of one or both parties. It is a lust/hormone type pattern, and nothing more. If it is supported by more true loving type connections, then it can indicate a nice "spicyness" to the connection/relationship, but there will occasionally be issues, arguments, etc. Personally speaking, I tend to avoid it when I see that I have it with another person (even if, and it usually is, the attraction is intense), because in my experience and observing others, most of the time it doesn't turn out well. Venus opposite Mars often has the same very "charged" nature, and while it can also be challenging and very lust oriented, there is more potential for growth via eventual balancing affect on each other, should the two be able to put aside their egos to work on the relationship and on real love. I prefer Venus opposite Mars for these reasons. But I do have an out of orb Venus Mars square with the person I'm talking to of late, and in this case, I do have a rather strong attraction to her, but I think it indicates I'm going to have a major case of perpetual blue b*lls in relation to her since she has a boyfriend and I'm pretty sure they're not open. 333luluI have a co-worker whose Mars squares my Venus. I feel no sexual attraction to him, but I like his sense of style and we work well together most of the timeGalacticCoreExplosionV2 That's not a surprise to me, though I've observed it to be sexually charged a lot. Look at the very basic, most core, essential meaning. It just means, on that level, that the relating, giving, affectionate, true romantic, etc nature of one is in conflict/tension with the primal, animal, red energy of another (this can vary from sex drive to physical vitality to the Yang sense of "let's go out and get what we want/need", and/or general strong desire). It certainly doesn't have to manifest as mutual or one way sexual attraction. However, that latter is another point not covered earlier. Sometimes it does connect to one person being intensely attracted, and the other not. Nor is there any hard and fast rule about it necessarily having to be either the Venus, or the Mars, person. It may tend, on average, to be the Mars person more, but again, no hard and fast rules. If the Venus person has their Venus connected to 5th and 8th Houses, and to some extent the 1st or 7th Houses, then it may be Venus person feeling it more. Especially so, if their chart indicates that they are likely to be attracted to Martian energy in general. (And this can vary by indications/patterns as well).
