EmGem | also, what would keep two people in each other's lives? i.e. not cut one another out? that feeling that you just need that person in your life in some way to learn something from one another. very curious, thank you! |
Odette | I associate this kind of thing with Venus/NN or Venus/SN. These aspects signify real love, but outer circumstances can at times interfere and the relationship doesn't take off. As to why the people would continue being in touch - that's related to Saturn aspects imo - mainly Saturn/Sun or Saturn/Moon.

BellaFenice | To answer the not take off part, hard Saturn and sometimes Neptune aspects can keep relationships from developing. Self-imposed and actual limitations, as well as not seeing each other for who they really are can play into this. A good example is Saturn conj DSC. Sometimes it can serve as a very binding aspect between two people. However, I've also observed that it can prevent a relationship from ever taking off due to Saturn themes. |
ikja | I also think that house overlays are important; not just aspects. |

I have experience of this. He broke up with me, but he loves me. It just wasn't the right time for us. I feel we will always be close, even just as friends The relationship felt like it was meant to happen, even if it wasn't lasting. My Venus conjuncts his NN, as does my Mars and my sun/moon midpoint. His venus also conjuncts his NN. I have a few asteroids conj his NN. My Sun/moon midpoint conj his venus My Ceres conjuncts his SN My Ceres conj his moon We have saturn sq moon DW his saturn conj my sun his sun conj my sun His saturn conj my mercury His Saturn sq my Neptune His Saturn/sun sq My SN/NN My Saturn conjunct his mars My Sun conj his Juno sun conj mercury DW He has alot of asteroids conj my ASC as well as Pluto. We have a few other natal aspects but i thought i would focus on the saturn and nodes We have Composite venus sq uranus, but we both have it natally We have draconic aspects too but i dont really understand the draconic chart. ------------------------------------- Please dont quote might edit later

In terms of keeping a relationship together, perhaps personal planets falling in the 7th house or 8th house. Some people aren't comfortable with the 8th house though, because it is quite intense. |

EmGem | still new to all this but for synastry are sextiles and trines in saturn aspects better than squares and oppositions? i thought i read somewhere the hard aspects were better...? |
peony | In answer to both questions, Saturn conjunctions and hard aspects to Venus. There can be obstacles or circumstances that prevent the two from getting together or the relationship taking off. This isn't the only factor, but it's a major one. I have a close friend who has remained good friends with an ex for decades after the relationship ended. They have Venus-Saturn (she's Venus) in hard aspect. I can't remember if it's a square or an opposition. She's even in his will! I have a Venus-Saturn with an ex (he's Venus). He and I have remained great friends for 14 years after we broke up. |
