T O P I C R E V I E WCeridwenEvery planet has a dispositor. We usually make special notes of these (and call them "rulers"), in the case of the houses (houserulerships). However, the same can be applied to planets as well. Some astrologers (including myself) think the signs these dispositors fall in have a meaning, or at least add *something* to the position of the planets.ARroyo for example called it "overtone" of a planet.I find these dispositor-signs often have a strong influence, like an underlying factor. Maybe it is just especially noteable in my chart, cause while my personal planets themselves do not have anything in water, the dispositors of my personal planets are ALL in water. And I identify with water a lot, though not in the obvious way like it would be if my planets were ACTUALLY placed in water signs. It is like I am expressing my firesigns in a watery sense.Example:my Sun is in Sagittarius in 1st house - dispositor is Jupiter, which is in Pisces in 3rd house.I am probably quite enthusiastic like any fire sign; however usually I don`t come in like a steamroller; my enthusiasm is usually expressed in a more subtle way than it is often with Sagittarians. I am also not as optimistic and overtly jolly and extrovert than Sags can be.I definitely can see how the Pisces dispositor tempers it a bit, and adds a dreamy and more quiet nuance to it.I can see that difference so clearly in a guy who has his Sun in Sag like I have; yet it is like in some sense we are polar opposites. I am fascinated by his earthiness, being grounded, practical, absolutely living in the Here and now, while my mental home probably is somewhere beyond the clouds. lolTurns out the dispositor of his Sun, which is also Jupiter, is in Virgo. Not only that, his Sun-disp is on 10 Virgo, while mins is on 11 Pisces, tightly opposite each other. I find that remarkable, and it explains a LOT.Funny enough our Suns are tightly conjunct, and their dispositors are tightly opposed. Then today, while being on the bus, I was having the idea, to treat the dispositors as a "hypothetical chart" - a dispositor chart.Of course we still have our basic chart, the dispositor chart would maybe be more telling about underlying nuances, or maybe showing in a mroe differentiated way how the basic qualities of the signs are being expressed for each person. If nothing else, it is a nice mental game at least. And I like to sometimes look on my chart from a new perspective.I was using new rulerships here, and that is how my dispositor chart looks; the planet in brackets is the dispositor:Sun: 11 Pisces (Jupiter)Moon: 1 Scorpio (Uranus)Mercury. 11 Pisces (Jupiter)Venus: 16 Cancer (Saturn)Mars: 11 Pisces (Jupiter)Jupiter: 10 Sagittarius (Neptune)Saturn: 17 Aquarius (Moon)Uranus: 9 Libra (Pluto)Neptune: 11 Pisces (Jupiter)Pluto: 6 Capricorn (Venus)NN: 11 Pisces (Jupiter)SN: 25 Sagittarius (Mercury)ASC: 11 Pisces (Jupiter)DESC: 25 Sagittarius (Mercury)MC: 6 Capricorn (Venus)IC: 5 Sagittarius (Mars)VX: 17 Aquarius (Moon)AVX: 17 Cancer (SAturn)ueharaaIt makes me think of what is used on astro.com for the sign dipositor graph under pullen astrology. In the end it gives which sign ruler is the most "dominant". Is it similar ?CeridwenYes, it is similiar.Just that astro gives you the whole dispisitor chain to assess which planet might be the "boss" of the whole chart. In my case, using traditional rulerships, I have two different "chains". One with Jupiter at the head, ruling Sun, Mercury, Mars, ASC etc.The other with Moon and Saturn at the head ruling Moon, Venus and so on.Using new rulerships I think I have a circle. However I was just checking for the next direct dispositor instead of the whole chain.sweet-scorpionDispositors are pretty important... they represent serious underlying influences for planets, especially major luminaries like the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars. If you find that one planet is overwhelmingly present as a dispositor, and that the dispositor also falls in the sign of the planets which it disposits, I think it's likely a final dispositor of the entire chart... it will show where the person's life emphasis will be, their life themes, challenges, etc. Like for example, if you have a Scorp stellium and a 12H Pluto in Scorpio I believe Pluto would be a final dispositor, showing you're likely to have Plutonian themes throughout your life.Something interest I also feel is looking at what aspects the final dispositor is making. Like if you feel extremely sensual and have a Virgo Venus but it's disposited by a Mercury that is square Mars and conjunct Pluto, you're likely to feel subtle 'waves' and undercurrents like your Venus recieves the very subtle Mars sq. and Pluto conjunction effects as well. At least, this is true for me and my powerful Pluto chart dispositor, which trines Mars quite closely... it makes my Scorp Venus even more sensual/sexual and all about intimacy, for example. ueharaaI see then.Well everything in my chart, pluto aside, comes down to saturn. And if I use traditional ruler all of them would come down to pluto.sun, moon, mercury, dc: ruled by saturn: 15 cap mars ruled by jupiter: 5 cancervenus ruled by uranus: 5 capac ruled by moon: 26 capmc ruled by mars: 8 sagic ruled by vensu: 6 aquasaturn is the "final" dispositor of my chart, and the most exact aspects it makes are an opposition to chiron, and a sextile to pluto.Maybe it's because of the aspects it makes but I feel way too overemotional for a predominantly earthy person ruled by saturn nonetheless. There are times when I really feel my fire singleton and feel like I rely heavily on my cancer ascendant (certainly to balance things out) I am also awful at organizing and such but well on the other hand I do have a lot of saturnine qualities (seriousness, defining rules etc..) CeridwenYes, I agree, looking for the final dispositor is important, especially for asessing the general importance of a certain planet in a chart. In my case it is easy to see that Jupiter takes the cake. not only is he chartruler already, but dispositing Sun, Mercury, Mars, ASC and NN.However, I was thinking a tiny bit different when starting this thread. Just wanted to check the underlying influence of the dispositor in regards to EACH sign, and of course also using the degrees of the dispositor.it never before occured to me that the dispositor of my Venus (Saturn on 16 Cancer) is trine the dispositor of my Sun, mercury, Mars, ASC and Neptune (Jupiter on 11 Pisces).I am curious if the usual synastric aspects betweewn people will also come up in terms of dispositor aspecting each other.Ceridwen quote:Originally posted by ueharaa:I see then.Well everything in my chart, pluto aside, comes down to saturn.
