T O P I C R E V I E WLeorpioThis house seems to be kind of ignored by most people since it doesn't have to do with anything immediate (like money, love, career, health,etc.). What's the importance of this house and what does it mean in our lives?moonramI have Moon conjunct Mercury in Pisces in the Ninth House. Daydreaming is one of my favorite hobbies. I also travel regularly. (Lately my Cancer Ascendant has been resisting all the traveling, though, and I've committed to staying home or at least staying off a plane for the rest of the year.)I am a voracious reader of poetry, philosophy, astrology, religion, and a few types of academic literature; only rarely do I read fiction. I consider myself intelligent, but I have a really hard time sitting down and putting my thoughts into words. I picked up a biography of Kahlil Gibran yesterday at the library, written by his cousin's son. I am enthralled.I think this link explains well the things I find most interesting in life: http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_dgninthhouse_e.htm moonram quote:Originally posted by Leorpio:This house seems to be kind of ignored by most people since it doesn't have to do with anything immediate (like money, love, career, health,etc.). In order to feel emotionally and mentally healthy, I need my Ninth House stimulated. I think my marriage is failing due to a lack of Ninth House stimulation. (My psychologist at one time told me that I would probably need to find intellectual stimulation outside my marriage and learn to appreciate the other things my husband offers me instead.) Ideally I need my career to be something that nourishes my interests in Ninth House matters. But I have a Tenth House Aries Sun, so I can make money even if I hate my job, but it will definitely kill my spirit in little ways every day. I'm a stay at home mom, now, but my last job was extremely challenging and high paying. Without a good philosophy or perception of your life it can dramatically change your happiness thus effecting everything else. callarosaThe 9th house definitely doesn't seem to get as much love from astrologers as the 7th, 8th, or 10th houses. I feel like the 9th house is related to education and the 'voyages' we take with our minds. My Venus is in the 9th house... I'm very attracted to intellectuals, academics, and philosopher types. I feel like an outsider looking in the vast majority of the time, in part because I analyze everything. I love philosophy, spirituality (not religion- I care about the collective, not individual groups), and psychology. I really just have a love of learning- but not in the book sense. I tend to treat the world as if it is my playground/classroom and I have an appreciation for the absurd parts of life. If my occupation allowed me to travel the world, I would do so. Variety is indeed the spice of life, though I do like to have a stable home base to come back to. Ultimately though, I feel like an outsider mostly because I really truly enjoy long, honest, deep conversations, and it seems like so many people simply don't engage on that level. When I do find the people that I can talk for hours with, I try to keep them in my life. GeminiyoungsterMy mercury and sun both falls in the ninth house. My Mercury and Sun are both in Gemini. I do also find myself sometimes always asking questions like "what if" all the time. I enjoy and love talking about those things and i'm always in my head constantly thinking,LOL. Oh, I KNOW that I attract a lot of Sag energy! Many of my close friends over the years have had either Sagittarius Sun, Moon, or Rising signs. Several of the people I've dated or wanted to date had heavy Sagittarius or Gemini. I've got kind of a love/hate relationship with heavily influenced Sagittarius people though. On the one hand I really like their personalities, and I find it easy to talk to them, but on the other hand, many of them are over the top and try to maintain their independence in ways that I don't always agree with. I really prefer more stability than many of them are willing to provide (that's the Virgo in me and my fixed rising sign). Yes, I'd say it's overlooked when compared with the Asc-Desc (1st-7th), MC-IC axis (10th-4th) and the relationship houses like the 5th, 7th, 8th and 11th. I would say it's similar to the 12th house in the sense that both deal with spiritual issues.

Astrology is a 9th House subject, I think, an intellectual study. I may be wrong.
No pearls to pigs.
The 9th house rules religion, self-fulfilling prophecies, paradigms and our relationship to new experiences. It also rules media and our quest for the meaning of life.
