T O P I C R E V I E WTaurusVenusGirlMy Taurus Sun prefers not to receive gifts, unless they are either, meaningful, food or a luxury item (a bottle of chanel perfume!), my Taurus Sun. As I do not expect expensive gifts, food will always been eaten, however I don't expect anyone to buy me anything in general. I can buy my own stuff. A few years back when I celebrated my 40th, I informed everyone NOT to buy me gifts, so guess what, they all did. I know it's the thought that counts but all it does is lump me with possession I do not need or are wanted. I'd have been happy with a bottle of $10 wine, my Taurus sun again.I gift my friends homewares from high end department store, and/or flowers and chocolate and/or take them out for a meal. So while I think this is all on my Taurus sun placement do you think there are other placements that reflect what we like to give or receive as gifts? StawrLove this topic!Gemini Rising, Aries Sun 11h, Scorpio Moon h6So I do this thing, where I write a list in a notebook of things I want. I have different categories like clothes, make up, toiletries, etcMy strategy is if I don't need it urgently wait for my Birthday, xmas, valentines, anniversary, and teacher appreciation week, and the end of the school year. Gift cards are great because just about anyplace has something I could use.I finally saw my friend and he got me a very belated birthday Ulta gift card. I bought bath bombs, expensive face moisturizer, and mouthwash(since I just ran out)I gotta wait out until Christmas now. On my Christmas list I would ask for gift cards to grocery stores I shop at, Bermuda shorts and Capris in the color red. I also learned to ask each individual for something different, after I received two rice cookers when family looked at my list. I also like to give people options, I don't expect everything on the list, but that way they can get me whatever is more convenient.Yes I like to receive, but I also love to give. For the most important people in my life I have what I call the gift files. I can take notes if they want anything, while also my own ideas of things I know they would like. I also have a budget of what I spend depending on relationship I have with the person. 1.Fiance, parents, sister, are the highest budget2.Future in laws, and nieces and are next3.sibling in laws, favorite friends are next4.boss, secret santa, assistants, extended family next, 5. anyone elseI am pretty easy to please with gifts but I have certain things I am not a fan of receiving1. Holiday decorations. I am not into decorating. I can hardly keep the place clean. I have no business decorating. -imagine living in a apartment with little storage and big obnoxious holiday decorations 2. MUGS I get this all the time as a teacher. Everyone has the same idea, where in the hell am I suppose to fit all of these! And most of them are Christmas theme. 3. Christmas themed kitchen wear, I don't want kitchen stuff I only want to look in winter. 4. Russel Stover chocolate5. Cheap jewelry. I better just go to bedTaurusVenusGirlLol who the hell gives Christmas decorations as presents😂You definitely have a detailed list.. I too prefer to give gifts. That's because I am an awesome buyer and everyone always loves what I get them. Two rice cookers! 🤦♀️ I remember one year, I went house hoping over Xmas, I was completely bombarded with cheap body moisturiser! If I could not pass them off to others, they went to charity. StoneMoonGreat question! I am looking forward to seeing eveyone's responses.Cap Moon, 2nd houseI usually ask for practical gifts, things I need but don't want to spend my own money on. If you give me a check I won't do anything with it, or I just deposit it and pay bills because I convince myself I have already bought plenty of gifts in my own time. Cancer Sun, 8th house/ Sco ASCI like meaningful. Some of my all time favs were the handmade items I received. I like to celebrate quietly, but there is a hidden part of me that really wants someone to go all out and do it big! Not like flashy presents or parties or anything, but a surprise getaway trip for two or an evening planned just for things I love... But I never tell my partner because I want it to come from the heart and be genuine, not done because I asked for it. Pretty stereotypical for Cancer and Scorpio isn't it? TaurusVenusGirlYes Moonstone, I would be the same. However as I've aged, I realise this will never happen. So I've learned to celebrate myself.I don't hold back on celebrating my birthday. I spent 3k on myself on the last one. A bit excessive, but I'm worth it 😉LibrapurrWhatever I need or want at this moment. Don’t like unexpected surprises, “Stick to the list”.I think my Libra has nothing to do with it. It’s coming from Virgo Venus. When I was child, my Grandma gave me cash for Bdays. It was my favorite; though, I didn’t know much what to do with it. I asked all my relatives do the same, they didn’t really listen.Stawr quote:Originally posted by TaurusVenusGirl:Lol who the hell gives Christmas decorations as presents😂You definitely have a detailed list.. I have them all lined up by size in my bathroom closet. anonymidarknessFood, yeah, cant eat clothes yo, but I like suits too, difficult to ask for suits tho, bit too expensive, would have to pay back for half of it smhh (Taurus SN)charlieNot big on gifts, at all, unless it’s something I’ve specifically expressed interest in! I like giving others and buying for myself. SimplyLunaI like cash. We give cash in my culture for good luck. You get luck and do whatever to the money. Freedom! Venus Aries trine UranusCancer in 2nd Leo-Cancer98 quote:Originally posted by Stawr:Love this topic!Gemini Rising, Aries Sun 11h, Scorpio Moon h6Which degree is your Scorpio Moon in? What’s it like to have it in the 6th House? Do you behave or think like a Virgo Moon, or not quite, since Scorpio Moon is a fall placement? Do you have a Libra Moon in your Vedic chart? Is it relatable for you in any way?diamondbabyHonestly I prefer to be given money instead of actual gifts. I'm the one who really knows what I want to buy plus I'm a minimalist so I don't need clutter. I think all of this comes from my Cap stellium with Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune being there. teaselI don't like to be given money, because then I'll stress over how to spend it - unless I do have something that I need money for, and it's given to me around the same time. My Christmas money went to a vet visit for my cat, in March; I still have birthday money. Waiting for an emergency, because I'm afraid to spend it right now. Maybe once I get another dentist visit arranged.I love presents, but don't always like people spending money on me. I like useful things - my dad got me an air fryer for my birthday, because he knew that I almost bought one just after Christmas. I love books, art supplies, headphones (wireless, ideally), gadgets - most of mine are secondhand, except for the kitchenware. My dad is the only one who would buy me anything related to my computer, phone, ipad, etc. I'm not big on necklaces, rings, bracelets, but I do occasionally like them. Delicate, gold. My mother had a ruby ring that her dad made (he was a jeweler). I like gifts that show the person knows me - thoughtful gifts. I have a delicate gold watch upstairs - the kind you wind up, and it ticks. Moon/Venus conjunct the cusp of the 8th, sextile Jupiter, square Mars, trine Pluto, etc. Jupiter trine Neptune - I honestly just love the atmosphere and build-up to holidays. The people. I love to shop, when I can, for others. I love wrapping presents, and choosing a tree, or just doing something on my birthday. *edit. I don't like to be given anything, if someone has upset me. The whole thing of a man buying a woman something expensive, when he's screwed up? Not for me. It would always remind me of what was behind the gift. TaurusVenusGirlLol! Yes when a man comes home with flowers, would set off alarm bells making one think, what has he done! 😂Stawr quote:Originally posted by TaurusVenusGirl:Lol! (just the mini snack sizes not a bouquet.) So I can just eat it up and move on. Plut0nian2I wish gifts weren't even a thing to begin with. So best case scenario for me is not to receive gifts at all. I feel like I owe to the person I received the gift from. I get anxious thinking about repaymemt. (Saturn in 8th H). Second best case scenario is a practical gift (Saturn in 8th H) or an edible gift (Venus, Mars, Jupiter in 2nd H). I love giving gifts but I really have a hard time picking.. "this one is not good enough, I don't think she would like that one, something is also wrong with that other one over there" I never like anything. The few times I truly enjoyed giving gifts were the times that I knew beforehand the receiver would really enjoy that gift, for example when my friend said how much she liked a bag we saw it was a perfect opportunity, I bought it the next day and gave it to her as a birthday gift a couple of months later. I kind of dislike giving gifts on typical days (birthday, name day, christmas etc) it feels boring and limiting to me probably because I don't consider those days really special. (maybe Uranus ruler of my 8th H? or Uranus opposite Sun and ASC).Somna7HThough I don't get gifts due to my malefic 8th house yet I prefer cash if it happen.------------------My Chat : http://imgur.com/hCRDawDHemillaI have gemini sun, mercury and venus, moon in pisces. I love any kind of gifts, i love when person puts tought on what id like to get -i have grown to appreciate clothes lol i literaly will wear whatever you buy me atleast once and one of the best gifts i recived to this day is a huge book made of 3 books by Bronte sisters - honestly best gift is a good book, there i said it - but ill appreciate any gift, a mug? Ill love it. A parfume ill wear it.Virgo-AriesArtistI am a Virgo Sun in the 6th with Leo Venus in the 5th . I like thoughtful, yet practical gifts, doesn't have to be expensive, but does make a better impression with quality. I'd take handmade over dollar store trinkets any day of the week, and I love experiences, or food. Jewelry is a favorite, but only if you know my taste.
As I do not expect expensive gifts, food will always been eaten, however I don't expect anyone to buy me anything in general. I can buy my own stuff.
A few years back when I celebrated my 40th, I informed everyone NOT to buy me gifts, so guess what, they all did.
