I'm still thinking about the square aspect.I don't have Mercury square Talent asteroid, but for example I have Poesia and Talent asteroids in a square aspect, and it seems difficult to me to write good poems, I can do it sometimes but it takes effort.
And I have Moon square Ascendant. It could mean that I find it difficult to find my footing but it's still possible
I don't know about the other placements that you spoke of. But as a Moon/Asc square native myself, this is what I know.
The Moon represents what is happening within. Whilst the Asc is the ad hoc response/action to what is happening without.
Depending on the signs and energies involved, there is a tendency to let one's emotional antennae(Moon) guide one's external interactions & perceptions of the world(Asc).
In other words, your gut(Moon) instincts are usually very strong . And often prove right. So you disregard all else to listen to them without reserve.
With Moon/Asc conjunct, this happens automatically. You absolutely trust in what you believe internally and act accordingly. There is no buffer in between and life externally (Asc) is experienced internally through personalised reality.
This can make you someone extremely subjective as you tend to follow your own whims. This even if it clashes with the "objective" findings or ideas presented by others.
Sometimes you can look "ridiculous " to others. Often they sense a childlike nature present in you or lack of inner objectivity-which tends to make you wear your heart on your sleeve. As you stay in your zone /world and act according to your own internal guidance.
With Moon square Asc, there is still the same gut(Moon) feelings that surface to guide you and your actions (Asc). But there is a clash between the internal "knowing" and external "intelligence" that makes successful cohesion of the two in the moment NOW, difficult.
When this happens, one tends to have trouble in incorporating the gut(Moon) self on how to act, with the expectations from others on how to act(Asc).
In other words, they tend to (on one hand )doubt or second guess their intuition. Or care too much of other's response to their actions, to let their inner impulses guide them.
There could be an innate fear of looking "ridiculous" to others or fear of alienation because of disagreement with others. So one feels the conflict of inner feeling (Moon ) and extenal action (Asc) to the moment NOW.
So whether the native acts or doesn't act in response to the moment NOW. There is always uncertainty as to whether the decision was right.
This inner conflict is rarely ever resolved successfully and because one cares a great deal for external feedback, it can make them extremely defensive or reactive to criticism (either for their action or inaction).
You may notice them as having a concerned or even "troubled" look about them because of this inner chasm.People will often ask them "what's wrong? " a lot.
This because Moon/Asc can be transparent about their feelings (all Moon/Asc people usually are).So the disappearance of a smile and sudden emergence of brow lines or frown, can be easily seen by others.Hence the concern.
They can elicit care and tenderness from others spontaneously. That is why Moon/Asc people can make great actors. Good actors are able to get the audience to feel as they feel. Connect with them and sway them to their intent etc.
But because the moon is circular. All actions asserted on others are also asserted on the self. So they can also be influenced and swayed by the moods of other's (including the conjunction of Moon to Asc).
In the latter case, they'll think themselves impervious to manipulation. That it was their "idea" to respond the way they did. It was not.
Whilst with the square/opposition, there is more of an awareness of being manipulated or swayed. The square and opposition are usually the more internally "probing" aspects. So they are more detached.
The latter is always trying to sort where they are emotionally on an issue vs. The external influence on how to act (on the same issue).
