There are newer alternatives though that are much safer.Sucralose AKA Splenda is much safer, it is made from regular sugar, but it is basigally prcess in such a way that is convert into something your body cannot absorb like fiber and thus it adds flavor, without the carbs. only problem is that it does not brown the same so it will make cooking with it more difficult. the other alternative is still really new but it is a form of tagatose, same results, except it tastes exactly like suger, cooks like sugar, and even looks like sugar, but your body cannot absorb it, and so it acts like fiber again. Tagatose looks like the best alternative, but it is still not readily available last I checked, so for now, I would stick to splendatrillianSorry to be a pain here, grayheart, but I think ALL artificial sweeteners are hazardous, including sucralose. In that case I would probably stick with tagatose as it is a naturally occuring product, although that is not really readily available as it is still new. I would still watch it though as it may have negative side effects as well, but it is still being tested. We will just have to wait and see though. Of course, I would point out that regular sugar is not exactly good for you either.
