Why do people do this?????I was supposed to go to a wedding tonight, but didn't attend because I'm sick. My childrens father went in my place, as it was more his friends then mine anyway.
Afterwards he came and woke me up out of my NyQuil haze to inform me that the rumour going around the wedding was that my best friend during high school had comitted suicide.
That woke me straight up, NyQuil or not.
I asked him the source, and he told me the name of these two sisters who were a pain in the a$$ way back since high school. They were very jealous of my friend as she was the beauty of our school.
She was also abused, and her Mother passed away in our senior year, at which time she came to live at my house. She was the maid of honor in my first wedding and we were very close until I moved away.
When I moved back I did have a heck of time finding her, as she had become quite reclusive and suffered depression. But she was very much alive.
About five years ago I lost track of her again, and had to search her out. Much to my surprise and delight, she was pregnant with a little girl, and very excited about being pregnant since she was in her late thirties at the time, and never thought she'd have a child. I knew the child was born, was a girl and was fine.
But I lost track of her again.
And then this.
I spent an hour online (she has a common name) and then an hour on a borrowed phone until I finally contacted her brother in a town 2 hours away, who confirmed she's alive and well!!
I was so MAD, as I was informed the girls that passed the rumour around were laughing and giggling and mentioned the death in passing as if it were old news and barely worth noting.
Why do people do this? Have they no clue what impact words can have on another person??? Years of memories passed before my eyes, and then guilt that I may not have been there for her in her time of need.
My heart was beating so hard, I thought with that and the NyQuil I was going to black out.
Had to vent, sorry. ERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
