T O P I C R E V I E WFrozen QueenWatch It HereI cannot express in words how much I loved this video. I was only halfway through it and my heart was gushing with love and just awesomeness and I wanted to cuddle each and every single one of them and tell them how grateful I am that they get it.My reaction would be strange in an ideal world but in the world we live in... ------------------“S|_UT ” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “YES”.“FRIENDZONE” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “NO”.RegardesPlatero=. Frozen Queen quote:Originally posted by RegardesPlatero:I agree with this video and Frozen Queen sooo much. I get street harassed a lot. I refuse to speak to men who speak to me, and they get mad. I get called all kinds of names on a regular basis. I've developed a thick enough skin to not let it get to me, but seriously, I do not OWE anyone a conversation. No, it's NOT OK for people to harass me. No, I'm NOT being hypersensitive, and NO, I shouldn't "chill out". People should stop bothering me, period. Word sister!I posted this vid over FB and this guy had the audacity to say that I'd miss them if they all suddenly stopped and when I told him no it wouldn't be the case, I get told that he feels "pity" for them! Also, it is "harmless" and should be taken as a "compliment" because think of those poor women whom no one harasses! WAH F*CKING WAH!!!I feel pity for him who thinks that he knows more about the situation than me, a woman who has actually faced it and continues to face it everyday. Sorry dude but I don't need a man to tell me what to think. Needless to say, person on the internet has been deleted and blocked.I face a lot of stupidity and plain ignorance every single day because I wasn't born with a penis and I'm not letting some over-opinionated person invade my life with their own issues.------------------“S|_UT ” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “YES”.“FRIENDZONE” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “NO”.RegardesPlatero [=Venussome of them do it without even actualy looking at you, its like a very bad habit, or a joke something he can share with his buddies..anyway i shared this vid. on my facebook .. LonakeYou all must not be very witty cos there are tons of awesome comebacks you could say that would have everyone laughing at them (except they're sorta raunchy). It's not hard. Beat em at their own game.Betty Boop quote:I face a lot of stupidity and plain ignorance every single day because I wasn't born with a penis----- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_attraction quote:The law of attraction is a metaphysical belief or theory, that "like attracts like," and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative resultsBetty BoopQ: Is the glass half empty or half full? quote:The purpose of the question is to demonstrate that the situation may be seen in different ways depending on one's point of view and that there may be opportunity in the situation as well as trouble. This idiom is used to explain how people perceive events and objects. Perception is unique to every individual and is simply one's interpretation of reality. The phrase "Is the glass half empty or half full" can be referred to as a philosophical question. On Persuasion: quote:In a world where its inhabitants have diverse beliefs and point of views, it is usually difficult to influence others to change their perspectives; hence, man resorts to persuasion or manipulation to achieve this end. Persuasion and manipulation are two different concepts that are more or less synonymous, but it is in their little differences that we are able to know better these two terminologies. It is said that manipulation aims at control; not cooperation. It always results in a "lose-lose situation." Persuasion, on the other hand, always builds the self-esteem of the other party. It treats the other person as a responsible and self-directing individual. Thus, control is the basis of manipulation, while cooperation is that of persuasion. Manipulation, in order to be done, is complemented with the use of coercion and deceit just to influence a person to do something. On the other hand, persuasion tries to influence people up to the extent necessary, but not crossing into the unethical aspects of influencing people. It tries to get people to agree to certain things on their own decision. quote:it is suggested that persuasion must be resorted always rather than manipulation because the latter tends to lean on the negative side. Persuasion is a civilized way of influencing people. http://www.infobarrel.com/Difference_Between_Persuasion_and_Manipulation#ixzz1puH3U04i I think many writers use particular techniques to be as persuasive as possible.. which is FINE - because it is their prerogative. But it is likewise your prerogative to develop some critical skills!!I said this on another thread, if it helps - quote:I think most girls (or at least the ones who have gone on to higher education) go through a phase in their lives - when they read feminist writings, journal articles, books etc. I think this is very normal and very common. I did a gender studies subject at one point and went through this phase as well. But later in life, in my experience - you also go through a phase where you begin to have a mind of your own and criticise all the things you read.. or at least -assess- them analytically - rather then simply accept what you are reading as though you are being spoon-fed the information. The truth is there are radical views in all areas.. as well as feminism. Just like there are radical religious fundamentalists. There are also radical feminists out there. There's a saying in a different language that "not everything sold at the market - is edible".. and the point of the saying is that - basically you can't consume everything you see.. You have to figure out whether it is actually *edible* first. I think this also applies to the things we read. One thing that bothers me is when a person (male or female) reads a paper on a particular topic, whether it is gender-related or something entirely different - historical or astrological... whatever! (The topic is besides the point!) -- and after having read the paper.. they somehow immediately acquire the view that "WOWWWW I am now enlightened!! This paper is so true... It is 100% true.. It's explains *everything*!!!!".This bothers me because - I really think it is important for people to be able to ANALYSE a view or a perspective -before they simply jump on the bandwagon and acquire that view. Because no matter what the view is... there will always be other papers and books out there that criticise that perspective...Before you decide to GO all OUT and change your religion or your take on life -- because of something you read (eg "he's just not that into you")..... you should at least take a peek at the criticism *first* you know?So that you understand both sides.Betty Boop:edit:nvm This part was patronising... and I take it back!:end of edit:RegardesPlatero =SaggiMCi don't like harassment, not that I get that much, but I'm with you.
