Funny how when we are on the verge of universally understanding something new about ourselves, our first reaction (which usually lasts a few decades) is to decide whether to discard it or not. Black & white. As time goes on, as we begin to understand the essence of simply being in the know about something quite personal, we get a better handle on it and realize, it was never whether to hang the witch or let her breathe.
The ego is quite necessary to survival. Just because one may not be practiced in how it will intertwine with our lives does not mean it should be given up on.
Simply, spend more time figuring out how the ego is useful and learn to limit it to those areas of your life where it will work for you. Everything in moderation. I believe the old faith is trying to tell us something in that we WILL invaribly fly off the handle at some point, we are not perfect. Therefore, we take a deep breath and keep the eye on the proverbial ball (being one with Spirit - once and for all)...
It's the frustration in dealing with the above dynamics which, I believe, causes the violence, the riots, the lack of compassion. OUR FRUSTRATION...
It's not that we are inherently bad people because we possess an ego to aid us in staying alive long enough to pass on the good word...
I intend very much, for this to be my last pass on this Earth, but it's not ultimately mine to decide. Without the mystery, we would have no purpose here in the first place.
Keep on Truckin!
