T O P I C R E V I E WHedgewitchi need some enlightenment ~~ i realize that our thoughts create our reality, and i'm learning this more so every day...yet ~~ how do i direct my thoughts and remain aware of what is real and happening in my world in this moment? there is much that is harsh and threatening in the atmosphere around me...i know this to be true. and i know that it must be surrounding me for a reason, but until i figure that out, and learn how to utilize my thoughts to create the reality i desire, how do i interact and use my senses and intuition to navigate the world i find myself in?to clarify this conundrum, i'll illustrate by relating the ambiguity i'm experiencing in following the spiritual path i'm walking at the moment. on the one hand, i'm reading a buddhist book, start where you are, that encourages opening your heart to others so that you can 'be there for them' when their pain causes them to act negatively toward you. it's simply pain, and by being open to them, with an open heart, one exercises compassion and freedom.on the other hand, i'm exploring the spiritual realm, and learning that negativity burdens and can be harmful to our physical space and bodies. so i'm also looking at forms of spiritual and psychic protection, because i feel this negativity in my atmosphere, and i feel that it severely affects my disposition.so, i'm attempting to be more open, and at the same time focusing on protection and avoiding -- kind of like shielding, i guess.can you do, or be, both? do these differing paths meet in the middle somewhere?i'd like to keep my thoughts positive and all love and light, but when i perceive harmful intentions, should i not register them and seek to know their roots, and how to transcend them? i almost feel that thinking about them sends me into a negative state, whereby my thoughts simply create more of this unnecessary drama.....gurus, and any others, welcome to offer thoughts, or even to share a cup o' tea, no related thoughts required. thirteenI am wondering if by being open and loving you can or will tranform the negativity? Let us know. It makes sense to try something different. When im being barraged by negativity i tend to close and react back with more negativety. AyumiI can relate Hedgewitch - I am having alot of the same problems. on one hand im trying not to dwell on the negative or give those situations power in my life, but if theres something to be addressed, how do you do it without re-enforcing that reality? the answer is: I don't know. But maybe its more about prevention. Address whats at hand without allowing yourself to become negative about it, and affirm that it won't happen again. But I think the biggest problem we face really is learning to ask the right questions!!!!you'll never be able to solve this part of the "great mystery" and how we can be so attached and so separate at the same time -dichotemy - polarlities see I finally realized I was always "empathetic" and absorbed all the energy around me - thought I was crazy for the longest time....My Best solution so far has been...you cannot dilute the energy coming in, good or bad, because if you did you would miss the good stuff you were meant to recieve along with the bad (don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater!!) so my best answer is to constantly replenish yoursely conciously with the "good" (meditation, spaceout) at work or anywhere make it a habit, when you feel the negativity start to build up from others! Bumpy? To say the least!What I find most helpful is meditation and creative visualization. Surrounding yourself with protection from the negativity each morning when you get up is very helpful. With that filter of protection I can see the negative things around me and contribute help without being affected by it so directly. That sounds somewhat simplistic, but it does require some effort. BlueTopaz124I love that book, Love is Letting Go of Fear...My meandering thoughts touch a little here and there...I feel, that when there is negativity, it really is about the other person's reality, their perception/point of view. Knowing this, it might be easier to stay centered and detached. Not detached in the aloof sense, but staying apart from their reality and simply observing and having compassion at the same time. I think Hexxie is saying the same thing, that it's not necessary to pull away, but compassion and love will allow you to stay close and open, listening. I feel that if you pull away or try to avoid, you draw to you that same energy you're resisting, because you're focusing on that. Simply observing where they're at makes it easier to stay centered. I agree wholeheartedly - love IS stronger and will dissolve anything negative. I find it's easier for me to visualize my own heart with pink (love) light around it while I'm addressing/listening to their situation helps with the centering.
