I've been celibate mostly the last few years except for a brief encounter last year which affirmed my choice to be celibate. I've decided to focus all my creative energy on my art, leave the boys behind that I am talking to - and I have saturn in leo in the 8th and am going through my saturn return. Vesta is in the 8 house in leo as well.

Has anyone had any experiences with Vesta and celibacy? I find it's how I nurture and grow my own inner flame. I always felt like in a past life I have been something similar to a vestal virgin, being celibate is something I prefer to the emotionally draining and ups and downs with you're with the wrong partner.

Neon Artemis,

Bravo, it's been 9 years for me, and well, I'd wait forever for, The One. It is very empowering,
to not give into Lust. ...

Yeah, I don't care for lust without caring and in a draining relationship. I decided it was best to conserve myself, it just takes too much out of me to be with someone who is not meant for me. I too, want the one and no one else. I decided not to "settle".

Exactly, why settle, why give our most precious gift to just anyOne..There is just so much more to True LOve, Pure LOve..it's sweet sacred bliss.
When we give into our needs, it just keeps us from our true goal, which is completion, in perfect Harmony!
At this point, I am 41, I have resolved mySelf to being alone, and that's okay, I LOve MySelf..that is what is important!

LOve LOve LOve to ALL. ...

Well I'm happy for you too. I'm going to be 30 this year, and hitting my supposed "sexual peak" but I am looking forward to being alone without the drama. I don't think this path is for everyone, there are times I wish I could be more casual with it, but I've just accepted that I can't.

(kinda hard with a taurus mars/venus conjunction in the 5th opp uranus in scorpio. LOL. High Libido, but the price isn't worth it. I'll channel it into my art.)

You are not alone, and I commend you on your choice, and wish the One to Come to you Soon..

What kind of Art do you do, I am an artist, too!
I do native American work, dream catchers, making the rings of birch branches, which I make beads out of also, and clay beads, too!
And I do watercolors! Mystical scenes..

I was celibate for 3 years, and it had it's moments, but it was totally worth it! Glad to hear there are other "all or nothing" people out there. Sometimes I get embaressed to tell people... but overall I'm glad I made that choice.

I can't say much about Vesta, because I don't get into asteroids all that often.

I can say during my Saturn return (in Taurus in the 8th house) I got married to a man that was non-sexual. It was more like a forced celibacy rather than a conscious decision. I resented it.

That said, I have gone through periods of celibacy- the longest being 5 years and when I was not in a monogamous relationship (which could be from anywhere from 1-3 years) I was celibate, with the exception of a couple of indescretions.

I prefer to NOT have sex at all if I'm not with the right person. If someone is crude or disgusting, I am immediately turned off by them- such as the case with my ex-fiance.

For me sex has to be in conjunction with a spiritual, emotional and physical connection or not at all. BUT.. I am a very sexual person. I enjoy it as much as possible, each time striving for a fulfilling and spiritual connection. I have to be with someone that also feels that way.. I have found that person- the first one ever and that is Bear.

Waiting for my Soldier Bear to come home the Sandbox.. I love you Bear...Forever and a Day....

lotusheartone,

I also find it hard because I live in Tx, and the only people who tend to be celibate are die hard christians. I'm doing it for a different reason, and I would be considered pretty "pagan" by them, but its hard to find those who are celibate who are doing it for the same reasons. I do find a lot of the people on the other end of the scale aren't really celibate.

I'm not doing it because sex is bad or sinful like the more extreme xtians would preach at me, I'm doing it because the kind of connection I want requires a lot of work and focus on myself to make myself ready for him. I really do want my spiritual partner whom I can connect with on all levels. It's funny how you get away from the natural laws because man puts their own definitions and interpretations onto them, only to find they are natural law and you go back to them in a more truthful way.

Anyway, I'm glad to have found you! LOL

Neon Artemis,

WOW! I LOve your artwork, definately divine inspiration!

I understand what you mean. I like to call it making LOve, I am a very sexual person, and I'll admit, I masturbate, in this manner, I am not hurting anyOne, and in a relationship, once you are getting it, you want it all the time, so, it would have to be with a very special person, and at this point for me, the One and Only!

Let's think about the two trees, as in the LOvers card in the Tarot, and the Garden,
the woman is represented by the Tree of Life, and the man, by the tree of knowledge, now we must realize this is just symbology..
Did God really create a tree that it's fruit was forbidden? Think about this, God created everything equally, God only enters into equal partnerships, did God create a tree, that bared fruit not to be eaten, for the fruit to just fall off and rot, on the ground?
The answer to me is NO, so, if the man, represented by the tree of knowledge, is symbolism, it is his fruit that is forbidden.
The serpent snake a simple symbol for his penis, now, bring in oral sex, a blow job, as termed today, if we swallow this fruit, this sperm, think of it this way, the sperm is alive, and we are eating a living thing, seeds to creation, this is what was forbidden, plain and simple,
where as our fruit is within..tree of life..
why do I see it this way, because I have penis envy, I think if I had one, I would play with it all the time, lol, I also have not been able to quit smoking yet, an oral fixation, my pacifier, my sucky...
Oh Gosh, I hope I have not offended anyOne, and may have revealed to much,
But it's high time we realize, we are spiritual beings, living the human existence, and that our Soul never dies, in the spirit realm, there is no sex...
that is only of this world!

Maybe what I have written, will inspire your artwork, anyway, I hope it doesn't cause too much of an uproar!
Eve only wanted to satisfy her Man's wishes!
Even though Adam knew it was wrong and forbidden, he convinced her it would be okay..well, it wasn't for then they became mortals, and thrown into the life cycle..

Can you imagine, if I'm right???

lotusheartone,

Thanks for your compliments on my art and for sharing yourself and your beliefs with me. I tend to believe that I am here to integrate the spiritual and the physical, that they are not separate. I don't believe being in a human body is a condition I should look to ascend out of. I look forward to being able to have sex with my spiritual partner constantly.. LOL like you got that high libido.

I agree with a lot of what you said about God being in an equal partnership. I know I had my past partnerships for a reason, and learned about myself, but they were based on so much pain and faulty beliefs that they didn't last and were really devastating in a lot of ways because I was looking for something outside of myself. I think I can learn about myself in a more loving way.

I dig your symbolism, I tend to think of the snake as a feminine symbol more like disembodied vagina though, that ingests and transforms, instead of it as a phallus. The great thing is whatever we see in it is right for us.

Thanks Neon Artemis,

I believe in immortality, and having this human existence, with all its senses and pleasures, but I do believe, that the Universal Laws, must be observed and followed, or we will not overcome death in this physical body, for when we were first created we were immortal, and we did not create of our own selves, little elves..
Once creations of our little elves came in, so did, becoming mortal, and having to die!

I believe the Vatican has the Truth I have presented, and that soon, all shall be revealed, the Truth was hidden, and woman put down, the Man rules this cycle, I hope that our next cycle will stay equal man and woman, 50/50.

LOts to think about!

LOve LOve LOve

The serpent keeps spinning in my head, the One swallowing it's tale, not only did he want Eve to swallow the live knowledge, he wanted to swallow it, too! hehe

Symbolism sure can cause spirals. ...

a circle of life, a cycle started... .

Neon Artemis, how do you see the serpent as a female symbol?
All that comes to Mind is Medusa!

I see the serpent as feminine symbol because it's like the intestine, a long tube that passes things through it. A Vaginal canal is much the same way. (it stretches to give birth like a snake stretches to devour something.) I don't think of it (a snake) as a phallus symbol because it is not stiff and hard and is very flexible and mobile and moves in curves. It also sheds it skin regularly and I see that as a sign of transmutation.

Also, snakes are viewed with much fascination and fear, much like powerful women are. They seem to be the recipient of a lot of projection of subconscious fears, like women can be also. In the past history it was much more pronounced.

Neon Artemis,

Thanks for explaining, that does make sense.

In the sense I was trying to explain, in the Garden of Eden, the serpent is the one that
convinces Eve to eat the Forbidden fruit..
Do you feel that serpent, was female?

I also think I've heard said, the snake, enters
the cave, the cave being referred to as the Vagina.

Also now, coming up 12-21-2012, The Earth, the Sun, will be in direct alignment, with the black hole of the Milky Way, they refer to
this Black Hole as the Womb, of our Universe,
where Our World was Birthed from, The Galactic center, this only happens every 25,800 years. ...

LOve and Reverence to ALL... .

Hmmm... interesting comparison.

Most snakes are patient hunters; able to slither up to their prey quite sneakly and strike when the time is right. The very idea of stealth and striking from the shadows have become synonomous with snakes as well as the characterstics of hidden secreats and motives.

I have to say such a symbol is more empowering rather than something that degrades.

I don't have any experience with vesta, but I have experience with celibacy. Too much.

I've always had long dry spells. Even when I was younger, I would go for two years without it, and then I would be with someone. Then, I would have another dry spell. I've never really had a regular- basis sex life.

It's been many years since I've had sex. Like the others here, I want it to be with someone significant to me. Casual sex is fine, I'm not judging others if they have it, but it isn't for me. When I was younger, much younger, I would have flings - friends with benefits, whatever you want to call it, but I outgrew it. It was just empty - even though we were friends, it was empty. I'd rather have no sex than have sex with someone where there is no real intimacy. I'm actually very sexual if I am in a relationship, though. You'd think that someone who can go without sex for so long wouldn't be, but that isn't the case. If anything, sometimes I think it's the people who can go without it for so long who have such potential to be sexual, because it is obviously an intense area for them if they are able to go so long by choice. There's an intensity there, too.

After awhile you totally get used to not having it...at least I know I do. I almost never think about it.

Btw, I have moon and venus in the 8th house. Is there an 8th house theme emergng here? I think I might've read that 8th house moon people can go through long periods of celibacy.

Hmmmm, I wonder if you're onto something -- 8th house Moon in Pisces here..... it's been a long time since I left my ex. After that experience, physical intimacy was the LAST thing on my mind..... now that I've had time and space to heal, it's worked its way up closer to the front

Azalaksh,

Yes, I was born in the year of the Fire Snake, it's also one of my totem animals, more specifically the rattlesnake.

lotusheartone - yeah the symbolism is quite interesting and varied when it comes to the snake. I don't necessarily think the serpent in eden was female either, but it could have been. Feminine knowledge has often been forbidden.

I also think of it as an empowering symbol - you have to have done a lot of healing work on yourself to be able to handle serpent energy wisely, or else you will hurt/destroy yourself and/or others.

I have a friend with moon conj saturn in cancer in the 8th and he's also going through a period of celibacy. Seems like a lot of us are tired of the emptiness.

Sex is definately intense for me, I really do merge.
