Pisces... speaking from the experience of my mother being one.

The other water signs too, but not so much I don't think. I agree about Capricorn too. They are VERRRY emotional underneath, I know lots of them.

I have always thought this was an interesting topic, astrology & depression! One of my friends said Pisces for men and Cancer for women! I lived with three cancers all my life and my mother fell into depression years ago (she's a cancer) and her father also had bouts of depression (Pisces)! My ex has Moon in Pisces and suffers from Major depression.
I am extrememel overly optimistic persona, & I could never (never say never my mother always says) fall into depression! Even though I am extrememly emotional & sensitive (I have a lot of scorpio & capricorn in my chart) maybe its my packed ninth house maybe?!?!?

I think each sign could have different reasons for becoming depressed, or that the dynamic of the depression is slightly different. In Cancerians it's more moody, and in Scorpio's I notice it's more "negative", and in Pisces it's more despairing. That may not hold true for ALL, but that's what I've noticed in the cases I've seen. I would think that it would depend a lot on the moon sign rather than just the sun sign, and also it would change depending on aspects to the moon. Also, a Saturn transit can potentially depress *anyone*. I'm a Taurus/Scorpio grand water trine and I was never depressed until Saturn started wreaking havoc on my life (around age 30). I guess my Sag rising always helped me to ward off the blues despite my earth and water... Jupiter is so awesome.

Yeah I know a Cancerian with Capricorn moon. Not good.

I also know an Aries with Capricorn moon (with Saturn square moon) and they seem quite prone to being depressed.

Pisces depression is…odd. I had a friend in school, a Pisces, very sweet and cheerful. Anyway we all knew she was anorexic, but I later found she was into self-harming, and had scars on her upper thighs. I couldn’t understand how this girl could be so cheerful at school yet was so…messed up. I don’t think it was an “act”, she was very accepting of her problems and believed things would get better. Pisces depression is the most optimistic!
We bonded because we were both depressed during adolescence. She didn’t eat, I did narcotics…and we both self harmed.

But please don’t condescend us with pity. If there’s one sign that despises someone feeling sorry for them it’s Pisces. Empathy and love is one thing…pity is another just because they smile doesn’t mean they like you.
This arrogance stems from a belief that we’re favoured in God’s eyes, hence don’t need help from something that dies.

Pisces/Neptune/12th is all about night, and those kids clubbing doing drink, drugs and sex have strong Neptune in their chart. As did we. But this planet has such a dark side…I don’t want to get into it.

Like all the fish before me, I had faith things would get better. And they did.

Depression is karmic, not a punishment. It’s Saturn showing us what’s false in this world and the way to redemption.
It’s why I like Buddhism. Depression means we’re one step from disaster and one step from liberation.

See? Optimism

I just don’t like this whole “oh you poor little fish. Here’s a hug, and a lollipop. Oh why are you always depressed you silly fish” *pats head*

You don’t go to someone with Cancer and say “oh poor you, you’re sick”

Anyway there's been strings about this before... http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004417.html

Speaking of Saturn and depression....

Back in Renissance times it was considered nautural to be under the spell of depression, thought of the dark night of the soul, and expression of the soul just as happiness, ectasy is...

There were gardens built for melahcholy, depression with often a statue of Saturn in the garden where people could go to just be sad...just sit in their sadness as these people recongized it as quite a normal expression of the soul...

I am currently under a heavy Saturn transit and depression is my daily life....I have decided to give into it, sit in it, live in it and feel it---not run from it...because in feeling it healing will begin...

I've noticed that strongly earth-influenced people tend towards feeling "flat" if they're depressed. I've heard them say it and I've said it myself. I've heard a Virgo, 2 Cap moons, and me (Taurus) all refer to "feeling flat" - which is kind of a depressed/in a rut feeling that it's hard to uproot yourself from.
