Anyone have any advice on ways to re-call or re-member your dreams.

Since I've quit smoking my astral world has been sooooooooo active. The downfall to that is when I awake, I can't re-member what took place.

Last night I awoke numerous times, with tears down my face. I remember running away or trying to get away from someone ... but that's it!

I'd really like to be able to analize my dreams, but If i can't re-call, that ain't gonna happen. So is there any tips or tricks to re-membering your dreams. Anything?

Sometimes waking up and getting out of bed too fast can stop our memories. It's best to wake up peacefully and go back into the fetal position, close your eyes, and concentrate. You will either be able to concentrate on the dream you remember and get additional information, or you will not remember and will have to pick up cues-think about how you felt or little things you may recall until you get the whole picture again. Relaxing after waking up is a good way to start remembering no matter what. I started this at age 12 and now I remember all my dreams, or at least most.
Keep a not epad beside your bed so you can write it down before you even step outta the bed. Keep a dream journal.

like dream said...relaxing helps a lot. ive always been the type of person to remember my dreams a lot, i even remember dreams from my childhood. i usually recall my dreams the most in a very quiet room, usually when im reading something on the computer, or just relaxing in general. silence, and relaxation seem to be key. i remember when i quit smoking over a year ago, my dreams became much more vivid, so i know what you mean....maybe its from the stress from not smoking that causes it? interesting.

Thanks guys! I used to be able to re-member most of my dreams. It was around early HS that I began to not re-call them as often. I wonder if it's because of smoking, since I started "really" smoking then and getting into drugs. (prior to that it was a once in a while sorta thing)Intersting writesomething that you've also had similar experiences with quitting smoking. Although I'm not sure about the stress part, as I have none. I believe I'm over em at this point. Then again, maybe its the stress on the body, not so much the mind that's causing it ... the changes Its been going thru without nicotine ... along with all the other changes I'm putting myself thru. interesting indeed!

Relaxing is the Key! I am the type, especially as of lately, that sleeps in until the very, absolute, last second. Then I jump up outta bed and rush rush rush. So that really makes alot of sense to say I need to slowly wake up. With all that "omg, I'm late!" "Gotta Go" etc ... it's no wonder I'm having trouble re-calling my dreams.

I'll just have to push myself to get up earlier and not fly outta bed when I see I've only got 5 minutes to get out the door. Instead spend an extra few minutes laying there concentrating.

My MIL suggested a dream journal sometime back and well that's as far as it went. I'm gonna give that a shot this time and see if I can keep up with it.

Anywho, thanks again Dreamwolf and Writesomething!!

Hi angel

If you don't have time to write a lot of words in your journal, sketch a simple picture. Just an image or two from what you remember about the dream. It will all come back, just as well as with words, if not better.

Good luck!

my experience is that if i try to remember the dream much later than i woke up i forget...

on the other hand if i try to recollect it just as soon as i've woken up, i remember. and i recall it later in the day as well..

If it's a very powerful dream I'll remember it when I wake up, but for the rest I will only remember them when I get into bed the next night. That peaceful time before sleep is when I'll have perfect recall.

Perhaps try to visualise your dreams during this time?

Great news on the giving up smoking. It's been three months for me too and it's a whole new astral world! x
