I had a dream my ex was trying to get into my house. I had to hold the door shut and nail pieces of wood over the door.

It's symbolic, right? That means I'm trying to shut him out of my life? Not some warning about him breaking in and entering?

The house would represent the psyche/soul or the physical self. Your sense of security/comfort zone is being invaded. If the door is being closed/locking the door there us a desire to remove oneself from a situation or stage of life.
You may feel like this expartner is creating a sense of discomfort in your life and you may want to distance yourself from this person or reexamine what they are all about.
