Has anyone else watched this film? I thought it was very sad, but with beautiful imagery. I'm not certain as to what to conclude from Linda's immortality theories. I'm leaning towards it being possible, but am not sure I'd want to live forever. IP: Logged |

I believe that my soul will live forever but as far as my body goes, I would not want to live forever either. I think there comes a time when you just want to go home. I would get way too tired of doing what I do now for an eternity. lol IP: Logged |

Planet_Soul,It's always our choice, I think after living for 1,000 years, as they did in the beginning of the bible, like Moses, you would be ready to leave...or sooner, hehe I really didn't like the movie, it had the Mayans, and then says Father sacrficed himself for all, and the Mayans had human sacrifice.. They raised their children from birth for this purpose for Harvest, etc to win the favor of the Gods.. I believe the true God, has never asked for sacrifice, that the Mayans and this story, the man sacrificing himself and becoming the tree, is about pleasing a false alien God.. The tree of Life and knowledge is simple symbolism. ... LOve and Reverence to ALL... . IP: Logged |

That is true. What I got out of it, was Tommy's obsession with immortality. It seems he found it at the end, as the astronaut. He was trying to take the tree to the nebula, to bring Izzy back to life. When the tree died, he realized the errors he'd made. Finally, he steps out of the bubble (denial) and accepts his death. Nebula explodes, and hence immortality through death. Observing Tommy in those 500 yrs after her death qqas depressing. I don't think I'd loike to be around after my loved ones are all gone. I like what Mirandee said about going home. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure if I'm being obvious here, but remember when he actually drinks the sap? (I won't give it away) It suffices to say that it can be perceived that life is born of the earth, therefore by returning to the earth through death, you're becoming one with the giver of life once again, and are therefore connected to whatever life you nourish. Thaks, ALD The film left a big impression on me. For days, I pondered on the meaning. Immortality through death, becomming one with thed Earth, Universe, God. However you see it.I want to believe it is possilbe to achieve physical immortality. A lot of what Linda wrote in Star Signs makes sense to me. On the other hand, I don't think I'd want live forever. It would make me sad to keep on living, after all my loved ones have passed. IP: Logged |
