Click here to find out what species are common to your area, or if you have a travel destination. Get your free regional field guide. Pretty interesting! I had no idea I had so many whales on my coastline! And so many local species of bats!

Dear artlovesdawn ~ That's really cool!

Whenever I go on a trip, I always notice the local animals. Once, when I went to Hawaii, I took pictures of animals every where I went. Then when people saw my pictures they said, "you sure saw a lot of animals on your trip!".

I had a friend who went to Ireland, and she took pictures of all the dogs she spotted and "met". It was neat to see all of her pics.

I have been a bird watcher for a very long time. My mother also loves to watch birds, and her mother too.

I currently belong to "Project Feederwatch" through Cornell University's Ornithology Lab. It's pretty cool; you log the species and #'s in your yard and fill out a data sheet each week and submit it to them. Speaking of which, I need to go do that.

Yeah, it's true, pictures help to recall specific memories! I plugged in my laptop last night (I hadn't turned it on in ages) and I had some small video clips of our 3 recent dogs who passed away, and an audio clip of my cat, who is also deceased. It was so wonderful to see them!
