I may not be old and wise but I've been through enough to see and believe that everything happens for a reason. I think most people who don't believe it is because its not what THEY wanted.IP: Logged |

CrazyAquarian, my heart agrees with you, but my mind says "No, that's not rational. That's impossible. We have free will, and life is what you make it!"IP: Logged |

I'm torn on this. On one hand (and that's a very large hand) I believe everything happens for a reason our destiny is fulfilled when we die. On the other hand, destiny somewhat restricts our free will by implying that everything was planned from the start. However, my free will disagrees with that idea. Therefore, it's fair to say I believe for every action there's a consequence...IP: Logged |

I do believe that everything is predestined..in the sense that the actions for your curent free will, will give results in the next life. So Karma has a life span of one or many life times. Thus a person's actions in the past exert an influence on their present life; while a person's actions in the present shape the future. If one commits exceptionally grave offences, that karma may carry over, causing that person to suffer in another lifetime, three lifetimes or even more.Good karma, will also carry over far beyond this lifetime.IP: Logged |

Hmmm, I think some things/encounters that happen in your life are ment to happen, but it is what you make out of them where the free will comes into play.Like, there is a "possible destiny" instead of a "definite destiny". IP: Logged |

I also agree with Yrone, I think of these events as milestones (I told you about a computer generated report which stated "she will be married at 23", and marry she did ).I also believe that our free will is stronger or lesser based on our charts. For instance, someone with a lot of retrogrades, who supposedly made a lot of mistakes in prior lives may find that his reactions are almost an automated response instead of true free will. Same goes for children, I think the rougher the chart - the harder they will come into their own free will. Just my theories IP: Logged |

I believe in dreams, and the energy of pursuit. If sth was meant to happen,it was because of constant feelings/desires that lead to one,the only option, end. Therefore, sense and idea of determinalism.IP: Logged |

I think its both destiny and little choice. Like in Harry Potter (1) when the hat decides to put him in one house he chooses the other. And then there is a very important dialogue between Dumbledoor and Harry towards the end, if i recollect correctly, when he states that what matters finally is what you choose.IP: Logged |

Destiny cannot exist without freedom and freedom cannot exist without destiny. It is one of the paradoxes of human existence.Rollo May wrote an excellent book called freedom and destiny that is well worth a read. Even using astrology...we still have a choice as to how we direct our behaviour. IP: Logged |

Well said. After all what is destiny? Its only what we chose in earlier lives. And even now as we live our destiny how we react to it is more or less upto us. IP: Logged |

This is my philosophy of destiny gotten from my own life and, particularly ,my own mistakes. I think God will allow you to go off your best course. Your free will allows for that. However,if you veer greatly ,you will suffer, often greatly. For me ,NOW,if God does not open a door,I will not walk through. I do beg him, though. I ask for what I want. I cry and sob but if He doesn't give it to me,I know it is out of love cuz God is love . ------------------ Life is lived in the sand box. Hey Ami! Do not ask, thank If you're asking, the universe gives you that experience, of not having, of wanting. Have faith that the experience will happen and it will. Be thankful, for it will happen. 'He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."' IP: Logged |

Yes.I've had way too many co-incidences in my life to not believe in it. I believe that we can go with destiny, or go against it - or a mixture of both (which is what 99% of people probably do). The times that I have a bad feeling about something I'm doing, or I know I probably shouldn't but go ahead and do it anyway - are the times I am probably going against destiny, and I usually come to regret my actions. I can usually feel when I'm doing what the stars think I should be, it feels 'right' and I'm at one with myself. For me, destiny and intuition are linked.
