What sort of aspects indicate a person who has no physical or emotional need for children? For example, a woman who sees a baby and doesn't feel anything. Or a man who isn't really moved by the idea of having his own junior version of himself. Etc.

I don't really care for babies, nor do I have a really huge nurturing side. The only reason I would want to have a kid is so that I have someone to pass on my ideals to. That's it. I don't even want to be pregnant. I don't think I could handle having to take care of someone else.

Funny though, I have a 5th house Moon (Pluto is also in the 5th).

I've never wanted kids. I have moon square uranus. Probably my gemini rising venus and mars don't add a maternal urge either. Ever since I was a little kid, the thought of being pregnant or giving birth terrified and disgusted me. I know, weird...
Also have pluto and uranus in the 5th.

Im not really a baby person, I don't see myself personally having children, I love to babysit them but my maternal skills are not strong but I sometimes want to adopt..

There is nothing in my fifth or 4th house and Aries is on the 4th house cusp, Mars is in Virgo in the ninth house and I have Taurus on the 5th, Venus in Leo in the 8th house.

It's strange...

I'm a very nurturing person. I love children and I love taking care of them. However, I feel no instinct to procreate. I don't feel as if I need to have give birth to a child to feel fulfilled or even pass on my ideals. I do that with the children I teach and come across everyday. I'm dedicating my LIFE to children, yet I feel no need to have one of my own.

My philosophy behind this is that I don't need someone who is my own flesh and blood to pass on knowledge and culture to. I don't care about someone having my DNA (that's a big eff you evolution!), and if I do ever decide to have a child in my life I would only adopt.

A friend of mine asked me if I would ever donate my eggs since I'm not going to use them, and I said a big resounding no. I don't want my body to be a part of procreation. I don't want to help add another person into this world because it's already crowded and there are so many children here already that need help. Yes - it would be nice to help a couple have a child... but that would just be indirectly having a child and I want to part in that. I suppose I'm taking the Angelina Jolie stance (hahaha...) that I'd feel guilty if I brought another life into this world knowing that another life is waiting for someone to take care of them.

As far as adoption is concerned, I've really considered it, and it's my most likely ending decision when it comes to motherhood. The likelihood of me choosing that path is very slim, however. I expect a lot out of myself, and if I have a child I will put into 200% of myself. If I put in 200% of myself, most likely I would have to sacrifice... when I'm back in New York I'll have two part-time teaching jobs and I volunteer for 5+ nonprofits around the city. Work is my life, and children are my work. Even so... having a child of my own would get in the way of me helping many children. Yes - if I have a child I would be completely there for one child instead of being somewhat supplimentary to a ton of children... but I don't feel that way... I feel that I would make a bigger difference helping out a whole school of children than being there completely for just one child.

I have nothing in the 5th house. My 5th house ruler is Sag Uranus in the 3rd. It's exactly conjunct my Saturn. Both are in an out of sign opposition to my Chiron/Sun conjunction in Cancer. Both are only aspected to each other and are sort of singletons (I have no other fire in my chart).

I do have NN conjunct Mars in Pisces right between my 5th house and 6th house... House placement really depends on what system you use.

The question is very different in someone aged 35 as to someone aged 21. A friend of mine who always claimed to not like children, and who stopped speaking to me or seeing me when I got pregnant (not off him LOL), now has his own children. I guess his wife persauded him in the end. Aries Sun, Capricorn Rising

A couple of female friends of mine who weren't bothered knew they would have problems (endometriosis in both cases) in which case it made sense to me that they adjusted their lives accordingly. one is Cancer Sun, the other is Capricorn Sun and Aries Rising

Me? I'm not really the domestic type and never hankered after the white picket fence. However, mad passion struck me and I met someone I very much wanted to have children with - who knows how life would have turned out if I never met him?

Aries is on my 5th house - traditionally not fertile nor particularly maternal.

I have Sun Conjunct Ceres in Gemini - there's some nurturing tendencies there but don't expect it to manifest in home-baked cookies.

Eh. I've got a 5th house sun, and moon oppose Uranus. Ceres in Sagittarius in the 8th.
Kids? I don't know.
I loved my brothers and sisters and helped raise them...there's a 12-20 year difference between us (the youngest is 16, the oldest is 24). They consider me both confidante and disciplinarian, which is what they didn't get from their own mother, interestingly. When I talk about getting kids, they start to sound a little jealous and sulky and it's funny, because I feel like a maternal auntie to them. But I love them so much, I hold them and smother them with kisses like little kids and bake for them, and they always look okay with it, which I suppose is reassuring
I think I am best with a little bit of distance ideally.

My ego wants to pass along genes.
My body likes the practice.
My heart and mind (for once) are in agreement, saying: Who knows?

As a rule, I prefer animals over human children. If I could give birth to kittens, I'd be a kittening kind of gal. Alas, all I can aspire to with that is Crazy Cat Lady.

No, I don't have the urge to bear a child. Nor do I think it's *natural* for everyone to want to do so Some people want it, some don't, and it's that simple.
I also do think age makes a difference. Past 25, 28, you change. Your body changes. Everything changes.

I remain open.
At some point I thought I'd have a lot of kids. Not because I wanted them, but because I felt I should. Instead, I got a lot of stray animals. The 5th house thing has its way in some form or another. If not a child then an animal. If not an animal then an artistic creation.

Well, I've got 2 out of 3.

In some ways I feel the urge to pro-create (with results lol), but worry about raising the child in a good, happy home more than anything. I just don't want them to have to go through the trauma of divorce or extreme culture shock (as I had).....I think of kids and get worried is all.
That's the bottom line, and it's always been. Worry and breeding kittens...Moon oppose Uranus

I am also one of those who don't want to have kids but I always hoped that one day I would suddenly feel the urge to have them. Not yet though... and I'm not 20 or even 25 any more.
I have no idea how to explain this astrologically - what to check? The 5th hs has Neptune on its cusp, the ruler of the 5th hs (Jupiter) is in Leo in the 12th. As for planets, is it Moon that should be considered?

Pluto in the 5th has a highly complex relationship to children. It can be a truly Plutonian experience where the heights and depths of human emotions engage. The sign where Pluto is found will, no doubt, have an influence as well.

This website will give a great description on the power of Pluto in the 5th:

I think babies can be the cutest little drolls but honestly, I don't care for the idea of turning into a mother. That may change in the future, but I don't know...I just *never* want to be stuck in that archetype (or even the wife archetype).

Could be the moon and venus sign placement, mine are both virgo and gemini respectively. I don't think those are very nurturing sign placements. Oddly though, my venus and jupiter are in the 5th.

*edit* I wouldn't mind giving birth to a litter of cats instead of children either. I love animals better than humans sometimes. XD

I was like this until I turned 31.

They say people that don't like or don't want kids has their Inner Child hurting so badly that they subconsciously dont want to have anything to do with it (= pain and other children) anymore. I dont know if it is true but if it is then it might be affliected Sun or Moon?

i think not wanting or feeling the need to have kids shows quite the opposite, a sense of completion in yourself. nothing wrong with that.

personally i never cared and didn't consider myself to have a maternal bone in my body - until i got pregnant. nothing on earth would have stopped me having that child. and after having her, i felt no more urge to procreate. had one "medical" termination due to extreme illness and another miscarried...one is plenty. often i wonder what life without her would have been like but i don't regret a single minute.

i have uranus in cancer in 5th trine moon...

Hmmmmm.....how bout my chart till kids happened in my life. I had no desire to have kids - and my friends will quote me on this. Then one day BANGO! The doctor told me I was expecting.

I have Uranus in the 5th and depending on the house system I have Pluto in the 5th too. Both my Venus and Moon are in water signs (Venus in Pisces and Moon in Cancer).

I think I've nurtured my inner child TOO MUCH.

The reason I don't want kids is because I'm a woman and the quickest way to fence yourself in as a woman is to have children. You're tied to them at least for 18 years. People won't hire you if they suspect you're going to get pregnant and leave the company. People fire you once you DO get pregnant because the laws in America regarding maternal/paternal leave are bogus. If you get divorced and you're a woman with kids, you're financially f*cked.

Idk, I have a 10th house NN. I don't think my soul would be too happy if I had a ton of kids and had to stay home to take care of them.

And my Sun makes no hard aspects, and the only one my Moon makes is an opposition to Jupiter.

amowls,

I am curious

Do you have a strong Black Moon Lilith influence. I believe that Black Moon Lilith is a strong feminist archetypal energy. I think that it's just a strong female archetypal energy overall. Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee (the point of the moon's orbit farthest from the Earth),and Moon appears at its smallest when at apogee. Its opposite point, lunar perigree is the point of the moon's orbit closest to the Earth, and Moon appears at its largest when at perigree.

mean black moon lilith is listed with the major asteroids, kuiper belt objects at astro.com

true black moon lilith is listed as h15 with the hypotheticals

another thing.

I think the dwarf planets named after fertility deities will also give clues into issues with parenthood

Haumea is dwarf planet, kuiper belt object named after Hawaiian fertility goddess

MakeMake is dwarf planet, kuiper belt object named after Rapanui fertility god.

There is also the dwarf planet,Ceres named after the Roman Goddess of the harvest....an Earth mother goddess.

Juno is an asteroid named after the Roman Goddess of Marriage. Juno was also connected to childbirth too.

Lucina was used as an epithet for Juno.

Lucina was the Roman goddess of childbirth.
there is an asteroid,Lucina too. It's already been mentioned in another thread.

I also believe that the heliocentric planetary nodes are important. Their house placements could be significant. all nodes are just the intersection of 2 orbital planes. Therefore every object has a node and not just the Moon.

I believe that the aspects to heliocentric Ceres and Juno nodes could give insights into motherhood.

I believe that Virgo can be nurturing influence. After all, it's an earth sign. Moon is Virgo's esoteric ruler.

The Greeks viewed the constellation of Virgo as Demeter, the Greek counterpart of Ceres.

There is always going to be something in a chart that will modify a placement, aspect.

I would also look at Eris too

it seems more Uranian than Uranus in regards to being a nonconformist, controversial, and going against the status quo

I would look at the heliocentric Eris Nodes too.

Eris energy in connection to 5th house.....could be going against the status quo, being a nonconformist, controversial by not having children

it can also mean having children that go against the status quo, nonconformist

Eris is female goddess too.

In the mythology, there are no stories of her getting it on with males and having children.

Eris seemed like the antithesis of Aphrodite/Venus

it's interesting that Eris' North Node is in Taurus, and its perihelion is in Libra.

Eris might also relate to feminism, and does seem to have to do with advocacy, equal rights, diversity matters.

The National Organization for Women was founded on October 29, 1966. Sun conjunct Heliocentric South Node always occurs around October 28th to October 30th. I was born exactly 5 years after NOW was founded.

Wow! Good looking out, Glaucus! Both my BML and my DML conjunct my virgo moon.O__o

And I totally agree with you, Amowls. Sometimes I think we might as well be concieving in the dark ages. Its weird how paradoxical this society is. On one hand, motherhood is totslly revered.....on the other hand, your totally trapped once you become one, financially and economically.

I have no planets in the 5th house and I have two kids and darn sure don't want anymore..My bf on the other hand has Moon and Venus in the 5th house and he loves him some kids anybodys kids. He has one daughter and she is 17 years old. Whats funny is my Saturn falls in his 5th house so as much as I love him still don't want any kids with him or any other man..

My mom also has Venus in the 5th house and she had 6 kids and her moon is also in Cancer..

I would say that people with strong Uranus are better off self employed any way. After all, Uranus is the planet associated with Independence.

I would also say the same with people with strong centaur energy (Chiron,Pholus,Nessus, and others), strong kuiper belt energy (Pluto,Eris,Makemake,Haumea,Sedna).

Centaurs and Kuiper belt objects have highly eccentric orbits compared to all the planets including Uranus. Uranus is a conformist compared to the centaurs and kuiper belt objects. The astronomical symbolism tends to match the astrological symbolism.

especially in hard aspects, the kuiper belt objects and centaurs can be too nonconformist and have difficulty working for anybody. They will also just be as too strange any way,and that can attract them to being treated as outcasts.

outer planets in hard aspects can also be unconventional. Dane Rudhyar wrote about that too.

They will probably be better off in metaphysically oriented,"New Age" careers. In those type of careers, you're pretty much self employed any way......especially Astrologers.

many would say that having a 9-5 job is conforming, sticking to tradition.
not just having children

also novelty-seekers, DRD4 7R gene types that get labeled ADHD aren't made to be 9-5 workers. Most schools are made for that purpose to make people 9-5 docile workers.

It doesn't matter if you're male or female.

it can be just as tough for male who is expected to be the breadwinner.

Males have to deal with stereotypes just as females do. Many males aren't comfortable with the male stereotypes, and they end up getting criticized by many males and many females. I know this personally as male that doesn't fit male stereotypes.

I notice that there are women that want to be treated equally, but many of them want men to be masculine and not "too sensitive" and be virile, energetic, and be able to have a lot of stamina if you know what I mean. If men are very feminine, many often see something wrong with them.

I do believe that it's unfair for women to be viewed as something wrong with them for showing strong masculine traits. Some women are born with higher levels of male hormone just like some men are born with higher levels of female hormone. There is nothing wrong with any of that.

I think there is a lot of complications about traditional, conformity when it comes to the 2 sexes.
