I found this article recently and it blew my mind: http://www.joannewickenburg.com/id76.htm

It's nothing like relocation chart stuff, but it's about the synastry with where you live. I must say, it's quite handy and has illuminated a LOT.
She lists the 'birth' times of various cities and states.
Unfortunately, the list is US only, but I don't think it would be too difficult to find the info on your own city if you did some research online.
Basically, even a compatibility with the place's Sun is quite helpful.
She goes on to list how the other planet's within the planet's chart impact us:

____________________________________________

"Natal Sun/City's Sun: Is the basic "vitality" or life-force of the city compatible with your own? Look to the sign compatibility between the two Sun-signs.
City's Sun in your chart: Where (house) does this city light up your life? By residing in this location, you will be challenged to define your effectiveness when functioning in the area of life described by the house its Sun occupies in your chart. The city encourages you to operate consciously here; to see and "own" the importance of the role you are playing.
Aspects between its Sun and your planets show what "parts" of you (planet's) are satisfied with what is being brought to your attention, and what parts of you are challenged by the city's "light". Too much Sun can burn you.

Natal Moon/City's Moon: Are your habits and emotional needs compatible with the city's trends?
City's Moon in your chart: In what area of your life (house) will this city challenge you to adapt? Like the ever-changing tides of our oceans, frequent but predictable changes in this department of your life will occur when living here. Where do the security needs, daily occurrences, general habits and safety concerns of the city influence your life most strongly?
Aspects between the city's Moon and your planets describe the degree of ease or difficulty you experience because of the emotional makeup of the city and its response to security issues. The planets being aspected show what "parts" of you are being most strongly affected by the city's lunar energy.

Natal Mercury/City's Mercury: Will you find ease in communication in this location? Can you find the information you want?
City's Mercury in your chart: In what area of your life does the city's intellectual focus challenge you to think and be objective? Just by living in this area, you will be challenged to communicate about these things. Is this something that you want to do?
Aspects: What parts of your personality (aspected planets) find the intellectual stimulation and communication welcome? What parts don't want to conform to the mindset of the community, or, on the other hand, are challenged by the communities way of thinking? Are you having trouble understanding its "language"?

Natal Venus/City's Venus: Do you want the same things that the city believes are valuable? Are you content with how the residents of the city define what they think you want?
City's Venus in your chart: The city challenges you to examine your values here. When functioning in this area of your life you will attract others who reflect your values in some way.
Aspects: Do you want what you are attracting? Do those around you value what you want for yourself? Or do the values of the community offend you in some way?

Natal Venus/City's Mars (Aspect or sign compatibility): Does living in this area excite you and motivate you to go after what you really want? Do the city's activities bring you pleasure? Are you receptive to its passions? Do you want what it has to offer?

Natal Mars/City's Venus (Aspect or sign compatibility): Is the city receptive and appreciative of the activities you initiate? Does it value (Venus) what you have to offer (Mars)? Can you bring it what it wants?

Jupiter
City's Jupiter in your chart: Where and how (house and sign) does the city provide opportunities that enable you to grow and expand your point of view?
Aspects: What parts of you (planets) thrive on the opportunities available in this area? What parts of you think it's simply too much, and are therefore challenged by the different philosophies or lifestyles that you see?

Saturn:
City's Saturn in your chart: What responsibilities or boundaries will you meet in this location? The city has a history and a set of rules that must be followed.
Aspects: Are these rules compatible with what you want in your life? Do the limitations they create annoy you? Or are the boundaries something that work well for you, enabling you to find your "place" within the community?
Uranus
City's Uranus in your chart: Living in this area could bring chaos and excitement to this area of your life? Where (house) will the unexpected frequently show its face?
Aspects: Does the chaos excite and thrill you? What parts of you don't want to change?

Neptune
City's Neptune in your chart: Does the city cloud your vision here (house)? Where does it challenge you to dissolve old security boundaries and learn to live on faith?
Aspects: Does it offer inspiration or does it feed your fears? What parts of you feel inspired and what parts of you feel confused.

Pluto
City's Pluto in your chart. You are influenced by the masses here. Where do the city's undercurrents affect your life most strongly? Where are you confronting power you never knew you had? Your relationship with this city promises profound changes in this area of your life.
Aspects: Are you able to channel this power and welcome the change you attract? Or does the power of the community overwhelm or abuse you in some way?

Nodes:
City's North Node in your chart: You provide something new to the community when you are functioning in this area (house). It needs your input for growth, even though it could resist what you have to offer.
City's South Node in your chart: What you bring to this environment may be something that the city does not need. Don't try to push your beliefs onto everyone you encounter.
Conjunctions between YOUR Moon's North Nodes and the city's planets are also important. If there are strong aspects between the city's planets and your North Moon's Node, experiences in this area of your life will challenge you to grow, even though the growth may not be easy. This is a challenging place for you to live, but it offers opportunity to "stretch".
Conjunctions between YOUR Moon's South Node and the city's planets caution you that this area could be draining. Experiences here could hold you into old patterns that don't encourage growth and expansion. The people in this city need what you have to give, but the city may not be able to provide you what you need in return. You could attract people who drain you. If you choose to live in this city, you need to consciously develop your North Node experiences to replace the energy that the community takes from you."
____________________________________________

It's quite fascinating. It did synastry with states only as well as city synastry. I've found that even general synastry can be quite telling. For instance:

Where I want to live and used to live, I have:

Venus trine Venus (I always enjoyed myself there, and it's Venus falls into my first house to boot - I do find the place beautiful!)

State's Jupiter conjunct my Sun : It's true, I always felt a level of optimism there.

Sun conjunct Sun: Seems kinda obvious

State's NN (and what I give to the community): trine my Chiron and Uranus... I don't know about this one yet, but it seems interesting

State's Uranus oppose my Venus: I always had rather weird adventures there LOL

Lots of other stuff. Check the houses too...the place's planet's falling into your natal houses say a lot about opportunities/challenges.
City's Saturn and Pluto is well-aspected in the place I would like to go...as opposed to where I am now. I always wondered why I didn't like it, and these aspects cleared up A LOT for me:

State/City's Saturn squares my Mars: TOTALLY

State/City's Pluto squares my Sun : Yeah, tell me about it.

Venus square Venus: I never saw the attraction, just can't seem to get into the place.

City/State's Saturn squares my ascendant: 'Nuff said.

I used orbs of about 5-6 degrees, tried to keep it tighter though. It's a lot of fun to do, I think.
Anyway, I'm curious how others 'score' with their synastry with where they live, and if it feels accurate

I cannot find the date of the founding of my "city" but I know I'm not compatible. The area never grows, especially in economy/jobs. There's a severe lack of 20-somethings, a "brain drain" due to this lack of decent jobs. It's like an assbackwards mill town and anything new that comes through gets slapped down, the locals rage against it. The place pretends to have a history, and it doesn't want to destroy the memory of that, but there really isn't any history there! Tourists avoid it in the summer. I cannot even find friends in the locals, which has not been a problem for me in other towns.

I'll keep looking for the founding date, I'd be interested in seeing why the town and I pretty much hate each other. :P I'll also go check out my compatibility with Erie, PA, where I spent the summer, it's so different from my hometown.

Yeah, leaping...it gets really interesting too when you do the synastry of the place, its chart with yours.

Virgotaurustaurus: Wow, you sound like you hate it where you are. I can completely relate Sounds like you're ripe to move

As for me...I think I need to stay away from Pisces towns. They seem to drain the life out of me.

I keep looking but the more I look, the more it seems like the town I'm in was founded over 9000 times haha. And there's no months to any of those years. Oh well. Yup, I totally hate it, I want to be moved out of it by the end of 2009! I'm currently working on saving up some $ to do so.

Erie, though, oh how excited I was to put in the date! It's my Taurus buddy town! My Sun trines Erie's Sun, and Erie's Sun is in my 1st conjunct my Moon! This also means Erie's Sun is opposing my 7th house Scorp Mars-Uranus conjunction, which I found was totally triggered when I was there (oh hoh hoh some weird relationship stuff went down).

Erie's Sag Moon is in my 8th. Is it odd that I actually dealt with multiple deaths there? My interest in astrology increased there.

It's Gemini Mercury was in my 1st house too. Not sure how this would have played out, but I do know I had to make tons of short trips all over the place there. Lots of learning through communicating with others, too.

Erie's Venus in Aries in my 12th was exactly opposing my natal Saturn in Libra in 6th! Oh mah lawwwwd...yeah, there was some weird detachment between my love for the place, and the general acceptance of me there too. Circumstances were totally the force behind me having to be there, and I was totally there to gain status. Sorry, Erie, I was using you.

Haha this is interesting...I could keep going...

VERY interesting topic!...here are some interesting things i noticed about my synastry with my hometown/current place of residence. to give some hint of how i feel about it already..I HATE IT HERE. i dont feel like i belong here anymore, im fed up with everything from the other locals to the lack of substance. nothing here for me. but i find it hard to leave..it's a MAJOR comfort zone, like a bad addiction.

My Moon opposes my town's Sun, Mars, and NN.

My Venus opposes my town's Mercury, Venus, and Pluto. My Venus squares my town's Moon. Ouch!

My Mars sextile my town's Venus. I do see how this could play out..but not to the extent I want or need.

My Pluto opposes my town's Mercury. There is definitely a mentality here that I strongly dislike and try to be the opposite of. Hmmm..

My NN squares my town's Saturn.

My town has its Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto all in my 7th house. Is this the reason I feel tied to the area even though I can't stand it? Never could handle too much Taurus..grrrr

Its Moon in my 4th..I was born here.

Its Neptune in my 6th...i WISH i could find a job here lol

Looks like Philadelphia is a Scorpio. I'm a Scorpio and both my Sun and the city's Sun fall into my 4th house: Home, indeed. Even when I leave, I feel pulled right back in.

MVM, thanks for thread, I had been wondering about Philly's sign.

Wow, this is so great! I'm really glad that others can get something out of this !

Augentier: 7th house is the house of open enemies as well, keep in mind...so there ya go, right? LOL.

Scorpionic: You're welcome and WOW. You are really lucky, indeed, to have such a synastry with where you live. I can't imagine how good that must feel...I always feel that I am yet to find 'home'.

I do think the Sun matters a lot actually. Like where I am now is Pisces. It's just opposing my natal sun and I'm finding I can't wait to get away from this pastel-colored nightmare.

Virgotaurus - It sounds like you have a really intriguing synastry with Erie.
I'm trying to find info on New Orleans, a town I've always been drawn back to, I've lived there twice, and though I don't want to live there again, I always feel 'home' there whenever I visit. It changed my life, and I always seem to have a 'pulse' on the city, and there's a monumental level of synchronicity whenever I've stayed there.
I know Louisiana is a Taurus, but I am really more interested in New Orleans. I hear it's a Scorpio town, but I am not 100% sure as of yet.

I tried to find the birthchart for London but there seem to be a few with different dates.

Anyone studied London's birth chart and have a date/time please?

there is also the astrocartography section on astrodienst...doesn't give you a complete chart of places but does show where your various planets and angles are affected and in what way. very enlightening - for instance spain is on my chiron and has always been a place where i ran into all sorts of difficulties which did heal various issues around my 10th house stuff (chiron in 10th, also in sag so travelling in general has been a healing experience for me!)

My city made her list: June 18, 1894

My Sun conjunct City's Moon; My Moon square City's Moon

City's Sun, Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune in my 1st; the last three of which look like they conjunct my Saturn, and therefore oppose my Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius placements in the 7th.

My Moon opposite City's Mars in Pisces

My Jupiter trine City's Venus and square City's Saturn

My Mercury sextile City's Saturn

My chart makes zero aspects to the City's Uranus.

I'm not a huge fan of the astrocartography, it felt kind of impersonal...some of the stuff resonated with me, but ... I don't know. This feels more intimate. Apparently my energy will be strongest in Norway...I'll keep that in mind lol.
But I did notice the amount of stuff happening in places where Chiron was strongest. However, I didn't see anything with 2 places I was very drawn to.

Fist, on astro.com, they have these 'astro click' options where you can draw up composites and portrait and click for the interpretations. One of them is called 'astro-click travel', I think.

AG - No Uranus aspects from where you are? Do things feel too predictable there sometimes ?

I would think that it means that anything that makes Pleasanton unstable doesn't affect me. I haven't had any issues with the City. I haven't always enjoyed my home life, and am considering moving even now, but I don't know how much my relationship with the city plays into that.

____________________________

I'm intrigued by the fact that I like an Aquarian city in an Aquarian state. My only Aqua placement is my MC. I've been really pleased by my impression of Portland, OR every time I've been there. Maybe I should go there. Maybe the energy's good there.

Huh - this is just the right thread coming at the right time for me - thanks a lot for posting this, MYVIRGOMASK!

I am just about to leave my current hometown and move to another city, near the seacoast. Will start a new job there in February - it all came as quite a surprise to me, I was offered that job in December 08, when tr. Jupiter was opposing my natal Sun, btw.

Luckily, I was able to detrace the official/historical date of the citiy's "foundation" (dating back into the 12th century) - and - of course! - I made a Synastry! ;-) EXCITING!!!

City's SUN in my 6th (house of "work")
- cj. my DSC
- sextile my Sun
- trine my Pluto (located in my 10th house of "career")
>>> Woah! This speaks of being put in the spotlight there a bit, huge chance of personal/professional development, right? How promising!!!;-)

City's MOON right on the cusp of my 3rd house
- sextile my Chiron (in my natal 4th)
>>> Well, relocation, house-move included ... many negotiations concerning my day-to-day-life included, experiencing new surroundings, etc.

City's MERCURY in my 5th house
- square my Mercury (ouch!)
- trine my Venus
- sextile my N.N.
>>> Well, some creative self-expression is enforced by the City's Mercury, it also pushes my karmic development ... Maybe I have to get used to a new "tone" around there, but after all, the trine to my Venus (natally in my 9th/Virgo) will bring favoruable results, I hope.

City's VENUS in my 4th house
- cj. my Chiron (exact)
>>> What??? Being a single person for almost a year again now ... should I find a real, substantial, healing love there? ;-) Or maybe just: enjoy a comfy "home feeling", feeling at home ...

City's MARS directly on the cusp of my 5th
- trine my Moon
>>> Great! An energetic boost for my playful, self-expressive tendencies (my natal Moon is in adventurous Sagittarius in my 1st house.)

City's JUPITER in my natal 1st house
- cj. my Moon
- square my Pluto (located in my natal 10th)
- square my MC
>>> Mixed bag? Wonderful, that the City's Jupiter might boost my self-esteem and personal well being - but obviously I must watch out not to build my hopes too high or to act overbearing conerning my actual job-duties there .... Should avoid any arrogant tendencies, I guess. Hm.

City's SATURN in my 11th
- square my Mercury
- sextile my Venus
- trine my N.N.
>>>> Some maturity concerning my social life???

City's URANUS in my 7th house
- sextile my Mercury
- square my Venus
- trine my Uranus
- square my N.N.
>>> Ouch - inspiring and refreshing, but not necessarily lasting social/love life there...? Don't expect "commitment" in any way...?

City's NEPTUNE and NORTH NODE cj. in my 3rd house
- sextile my Moon
- trine my Jupiter
- sextile my Part of Fortune
>>> nice, dreamy, idealistic, optimistic influence, so far... BUT also:
- square my ASC/DSC
- square my Saturn
>>> must take care not to get "carried away" ... not to lose grip with reality ... (through what???)

City's PLUTO in my natal 8th
- cj. my Vertex (exact to the minute!!!)
- square my Chiron (exact to the minute!!!)
>>> Gosh - this frightens me a bit. Pluto touching these vulnerable and karmically loaded chart points so intensely ... Hm ... Maybe I'll ... die there? One day?

This is SO exciting, that I also took a closer look at the MIDPOINTS, ARABIC PARTS and ASTEROIDS in my natal chart, which are directly touched (conjunction or opposition) by the City's planets. (tight orbs only: 0-1 dg)

City's SUN
- cj. my Identity
- cj. my Pan
- cj. my Mercury/Pallas
- opposite my Leviathan
(the idea of fighting my own inner demons comes to my mind...)

City's MOON
- cj. my Danger
- oppos. my Daedalus
- oppos. my Excalibur
- oppos. my Jupiter/Psyche
(again: the idea of overcoming some mental/emotional road blocks...)

City's MERCURY
- cj. my Juno
- cj. my Saturn/Amor
- oppos. my Nymphe
- oppos. my Principia
- oppos. my Moon/Vesta
(maybe a new idea of commitment in love, that I'll be developing there...?)

City's VENUS
- cj. my Chiron
- cj. my Discovery
- cj. my Saturn/Node
- oppos. my Sun/Moon
- oppos. my Moon/Mars
- oppos. my Jupiter/MC
(I see some "seriousness"/responsibility that might hamper and/or support my personal development and happiness... not soooo easy - I'll receive some respect for my self-confident tendencies, my "fighting" qualities.)

City's MARS
- cj. my Amor
- cj. my Destiny
- cj. my Triumf
- oppos. my Cupido
- oppos. my Poseidon
- oppos. my Mercury/Eros
(yeah ... finally some guy from there will fulfill my erotic/romantic dreams/ideals/musings, haha!!!)

City's JUPITER
- cj. my Moon
- cj. my Solidarity
- cj. my draco ASC
- oppos. my House
- oppos. my Sun/Saturn
- oppos. my Venus/Chiron
Ouch ... I don't like the oppositions ... they might inflate some uncomfortable, hurting elements concerning my actual living conditions there...

City's SATURN
- cj. my Liebe ("Love")
- cj. my Happiness
- cj. my Popularity
- cj. my Wildcat
- cj. my Venus/Eros
- oppos. my Juno
- oppos. my Harmonia
- oppos. my Moon/MC
- oppos. my draco Chiron
Nooooo .... obviously no marriage-bliss, but serious, stern, unsatisfying partnerships???? Or: A marriage with heavy duties???

City's URANUS
- cj. my Sun/Chiron
- cj. my Mars/Chiron
- oppos. my Venus/Node
Hm ... no satisfying stability concerning my romantic life...

City's NEPTUNE cj. NORTH NODE
- cj. my Honourable Acquaintance
- cj. my Saturn/ASC
- oppos. my BM Lilith
- oppos. my Fame
- oppos my Sun/Pluto
- oppos. my Mars/MC
Again .... not soooo promising: Some confusion concerning my (public) self-esteeem...

City's PLUTO
- cj. my Vertex
- cj. my Aura
- cj. my Destinn
- cj. my Aeternitas
- oppos. my Porta Coeli ("Heaven's Door")
Puh - As I mentioned in my former post, above: Maybe I'll die there one day ... in a rather weird way that makes me famous...? Oh, gosh.

Alvarella777, daaaaaamn you've got to town on this, girrrl...literally! LOL
I love it

I wouldn't worry too much about the love life stuff or the death stuff especially!
I think the Venus 4th is nice too because it looks like you'll feel right at home in a way, I think. square Uranus, maybe it going to give you some intriguing surprises on the love front

BTW, I have Mercury square Saturn natally, and it's not bad. It just makes for a degree of initial self-consciousness at times, which has (I'd like to think) made me speak carefully when needed, so I think it can create a sense of diplomacy overall...it's not bad at all.

I think it all looks pretty neat... I'm all excited for you !!!!

That must be it, writesomething LOL.
I always kept coming back to it, maybe a place with the same sign in some ways feels like home or something, I don't know.
I can't stand being in a Pisces place, it's driving me nuts.
For years, every time I've visited in the past, and lost time, and I went, I feel like I am in the Fairy Country...time blurs, it's like this ethereal place....which is nice for like a minute....and then I found out it's Pisces and I'm like AAGHHH, that explains it all then!
