" astrology is just for entertainment and fun, I can't believe that people presume it is real. It's even more shocking to me when they take it way too serious. It's just absurd to believe that random placements of some random planets determines who you are or who you should end up with. And how did the astrologers know Saturn "is" the god of discipline or wealth or whatever ?! "IP: Logged |

Yeah, but what if your interlocutor is an atheist? Vicky, you say "Oh, really? Ok...Date, time and place"

I don't really want to answer his question , I had this conversation two years ago. I just want to know the reasoning behind each believer.IP: Logged |

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I don't really care what people think about it so I don't think I would bother to try to prove anything.IP: Logged |

This is a pointless discussion to have IMO. Either you believe or you don't. I didn't believe in the practice of yoga until I started by a coincidence. I never studied astrology prior to having met a Libra Sun/Gemini Moon male. He became the catalyst for me. I still don't believe in meditation but perhaps one day I will?!His questions are as valid as you questioning his questions. It's also OK to not know the answer to all questions. If we did everything would come to a standstill, wouldn't it? My response to him would have been "I don't know and that's why I study Astrology". IP: Logged |

I just smile and keep on going We're all entitled to our opinion and those that discount Astrology have probably bought into "Bible Tales" which tells you Astrology is a "False God" It also tells you Noah built a HUGE boat and put 2 of every animal on it for 40 days. (without mishap) Sorry Vicky, I thought at the last minute that my post could be construed as disrespectful to Religion so I erased, but saved it as I am restoring it now. And that's exactly why I don't tell ANYONE I'm into astrology. Learning astrology is a secret hobby of mine. I'm not going to waste my time trying to prove to people that it's real. It works for me.IP: Logged |

I would not say anything. People have opinions on everything spiritual or meta physical. Religion, god, the paranormal are all subjective anyways, so its understandable. Some people are just closed off from those beliefs. Why do care anyways, at least I might have some advantage understanding my destiny. While that person is completely lost.

If I happened to mention astrology in earshot of someone and they went on a diatribe about how they didn't believe in it, I'd just nod and change the subject. Arguing and trying to convince people of anything is usually pointless for the most part, because the simple fact of the matter is that most people don't give two 5h1ts what's true and what isn't, people believe what they want to believe in at the end of the day. Especially when it comes to a subject that's controversial like astrology. Plus for a lot of people, the concept that their fundamental nature, inclinations, ultimate choices and fate is (partly) out out their hands and reflected by the position of the stars and planets at the time of their birth, is a horrifying prospect to them, because it makes them feel like they have no control over their own lives and destinies. People don't like feeling like they aren't in the driver's seat themselves, because most humans are control-freaks, by nature.Even if you provided one amazing answer after another, he'd probably still find some way in his own head to discard or dismiss it. So, in short? My reply would be to nod and change the subject. I wouldn't even waste the breath. IP: Logged |

i really dont care if people believe in astrology or not, i know it works and thats good enough. plus you gotta remember that most people who are critical of astrology dont know sh*t about it. personally i think its funny how people who diss astrology prove its accuracy without even realizing it,.as an example: my scorpio friend who dissed astrology is a typical scorpio, one time he was trying to give me advice on how to get women and heres what he had to say" you gotta be mysterious , girls love that sh*t! and you gotta look them in the eyes with a real intense gaze." not making this stuff up lol. also my uncle who dissed astrology always compares me to his friend who just so happens to be an aqua sun. those are just a few of examples i have...IP: Logged |

It depends on the vibes that person gives out.if I feel that he/she is looking for a fight/argument. I will just smile and keep going. like LL said. if otherwise, I will first show him links/books I learn most things about Astrology from. If he is still interested, we will be regular discussion friends if not, he will find something more to his liking IP: Logged |

You ask him date, time and place of birth and validate his sorry arse with his ''random placements of planets' and you tell him that you find people who thinks that astrology is 'just for entertainment and fun' too obtuse for your taste. IP: Logged |

Astrology is a science that for a long time was being interchangeable with astronomy, and is based on centuries of observations and observing patterns between events on earth and certain alignments in the sky. Like all sciences it is of course subject to possible errors in analysing effect and its true cause. BTW did you know that before the last century psychology was being considered "absurd" as well and that it is only a recent discovery most people agree on that women have a soul? One suggestion though, implying that someone is stupid or absurd, usually doesn`t make for a good entry into a fairly objective and unemotional discussion.

Okay, I had a meltdown a couple weeks ago questioning EVERYTHING i ever thought I put ANY beliefs in. A friend of mine moved away and was feeling pretty lost so I pulled up his chart and started spewing off some transits, I sent like 10 messages to him. After that, I got kind of mad at myself thinking "do you KNOW that what your saying is the truth?" (pluto is transiting my 3rd house right now) and then I told my friend that maybe I had NO idea what I was talking about. After a day he replied and told me that everything I had said had rang so true for him and gave me some experience examples backing it up, he said what I told him had brought him to tears and gave him so much understanding. I came to realize that astrology is in fact, a science. Not just a belief system. Thats probably why it's been around for soooooooo loooooooong. Thats why I like reading books on predictive astrology, that take people who have passed on and compare their charts to the lives they lived. Its uncanny really. IP: Logged |
