I don't really think that there is a specific aspect in astrology that would indicate a person having a weak father figure.I think some people are just more fortunate than others.Even someone with a really strong chart can have a really terrible father.IP: Logged |

Sun in the 12th is another one - distant or absent father. IP: Logged |

I would consider any sort of overbearing, cold, mean or callous behaviour as a sign that person is a failure as a father.I don't mind discipline but I really can't stand selfish, unfeeling tyrants.
Can u post his chart and your synastry and composite?

I have seen it play out as an absent father.I know several people who were born in late October of 1990 when Saturn was squaring the sun and all of them have one thing in common, their fathers are absent from their lives . One of their fathers died when they were a toddler and the others fathers simply walked out on them when they were very young. I have Saturn conjunct Sun and you could say I have an absent father. He was an alcoholic, drug addict ,and womanizer my whole childhood and now he is in prison. IP: Logged |

Saturn in 4th could be considered? It's a lack of family feeling, but you know saturn and the father figure goes hand in hand. Probably chiron aspects too. IP: Logged |

I agree about the Chiron aspects. Especially Chiron/Saturn, but Sun/Chiron hard aspects too imo... Idk if it always means absent, but I've read somewhere the father might've been "weak" or wounded in some way preventing him from being there as a supportive parent. Which could be literal but could also mean emotionally absent/neglectful, or manifest as some other form of abuse and dysfunction that is "wounding".. IP: Logged |

Fire moon - this appears in kids' charts, I have it myself. My father was a great father but had a low position in society and had to provide for his family when he grew up. Often this aspect shows that parents who have also been severely affected by extraordinary crises such as war.IP: Logged |

My sister has always had a very difficult relationship with our dad (yep, we have the same one). I have a lot of trines and sextiles with my dad so there's a better understanding. I'd agree with others on 12th house sun- my sister has one. She also has mars in cancer square saturn- kinda off topic, but I read something about vedic astro that said afflicted mars formed a negative relationship w/ the father. I also think sun & moon squaring one another or in signs that square indicate this since it represents your father's will conflicting with your emotions. IP: Logged |

Traditionally Sun rules fathers and 4th rules father and heritage. Saturn rules old men. Modern astrology prefers Saturn for fathers and there seems to be a confusion of whether the 4th or 10th rules fathers. Either way I'm in trouble as have Aqu Sun and Saturn in Cancer in the 4th. arcturiann - Pretty much every Saturn in cancer has problems. Now I know that means 2.5 years of people but I remember there was many problems with my peers - absent dads, dads who worked away from home etc. it can mean a minor social disadvantage - eg an elderly father, financially poor father etc but a father who will nonetheless be attentive to a child like mine was. My in- laws have Saturn in Cancer too - one parent had an unsympathetic father, one who left the family and remarried to create two more families with other wives and neglecting children of first marriage. http://www.aquarianage.org/west/planets/ch-nat02.htmlSaturn - Chiron aspect
