There's threads like these out there in cyberspace I know. I want to make another so here it is.

I do have a personal agenda with this but of course I also want to learn things about all mercuries and how we perceive others.

My personal agenda is personal growth. I want to know where my strengths and weaknesses are in the eyes of others. So feel free to tell me how you feel when communicating with me. If you want to say that I come across arrogant, stubborn, and unclear. Go for it. I'm ready to accept the feedback. I need to know the not so great parts if I'm to really make any growth.

Maybe some of us can do that for each other. The catch is, maybe keep it to a perspective about a mercury in general if we're not ready to accept the "bad". Like if we say, "All Taurus mercuries _____". Maybe "I see all taurus mercuries as ____"
I don't know. I just don't want a big fight to break out.
I'm just stating that I, personally, am ready to here some "bad" things if they are delivered with a bit of kindness.

Also, there's no particular format that I'm aiming for, but with that, I'll start.

My Mercury is Virgo, 12th, conjunct mars, asc. trine Jupiter, square moon.

In my head, it's like there are explosions of thought. Someone might say something about a rainbow. Almost instantly I'm thinking about light refraction, light wavelength, light speed, light years, and even Skittles and how if you mix them with popcorn it tastes like Fruit Loops. You say "rainbow"... BANG! I'm off like a racehorse. So I can get frustrated sometimes as I don't have the patience to take the time to properly explain things or I feel that I'm restricted in what I am welcome to talk about. I have gotten this feedback. With the Rainbow thing. The other person is like, "Look. I just thought the rainbow was pretty. I'm not asking to learn about the breakup of light wavelengths, alright?" I get it. So I try to keep my mouth shut.

My perceived interactions with other Mercuries.

Aries - I'm not too sure other than my mother is one. She talks to anyone about anything, even disrupting strangers who are trying to eat at a restaurant. I try to keep her moving along and let's have a private conversation.

Taurus - I can't say that I've interacted with them that I'm aware of.

Gemini - They bring out the fun in me generally. They'll listen to my random branching off moments and follow along.

Cancer - I'm not sure here either other than I like their voices.

Leo - I just smile and nod. Don't upset the beast.

Virgo - You'd think that this would be heaven. Oh no. We clash. Like two idiots who think they have the better idea.

Libra - Fight and make up. That's the story.

Scorpio - I love Scorpio most of the time. It's funny that Libra sits in the middle. I feel like they understand where I'm coming from and help to balance me out. They sooth me. Though I also want to crack them to stop hiding those deep feelings.

Sag - Mmmm. That might require more thought actually. Perhaps a similar experience as Aqua for me. I'm not sure though.

Cap - Hmm. Also not sure at the moment. I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Aqua - It takes considerable effort on my part, at least a lot of the time. We can very well be talking about the same thing but it's like one is speaking Russian and the other French. It's a struggle. My ex-step mom was Aqua mercury. We never were able to fully "jive" with each other. Too foreign.

Pisces - Key words are "Respect, Understanding, Clarity." We seem to always respect each other, it's clear what we're talking about, and we understand the other's point of view. We may agree and arrived there with different methods. Maybe we have the same method to arrive at a thought but came to a different conclusion. Very easy to agree to disagree. Almost effortless. Pleasure to talk to them.

Of course, we are much more than our Mercury but I thought it might be fun, and hopefully rewarding.

I have Mercury in Aries, and I would say I'm good at getting to the point and being genuine, but actuay really bad at saying what I mean or being direct. People often confuse "force" for directness when they're not the same, and this is where the old addage of Aries being the "baby" of the zodiac shines. It's easy to say the first thing that comes to mind, but harder to pinpoint what I MEAN. I have to wait for awhile when I'm being careful. Hope that makes sense.

Even though I can talk to my Mercury in Gemini friend for hours and hours, her detachment can bother me at times. She thinks of good questions though.

Mom has Mercury in Pisces and is very smart, very open minded towards everything, but cannot "see" reality very well.

Aries - I don't talk to just anyone about anything. Online, you can't always control who sees what, but that's why I edit. It used to be a Very Big Deal if I talked about anything personal - even with childhood friends and family.

I don't talk to people in public, unless they engage with me, or I have to. I will smile. I spoke to someone last Friday, because they told us to go first, they hadn't chosen. I responded, and then spoke to my dad. Her husband ended up mocking my accent - apparently because his son was enjoying it, but he was getting on my nerves, and dad's. I didn't say anything to him, although I finally wanted to. They left before I hit that point.

Most people are lovely.

Hmmm... Mercury in Gemini (alot!)

Aries... If talking was sex, they are too much in a hurry to get to the climax. (My eighth house Gemini Mercury is showing here, equating talking to sex )

Taurus... They are very practical, and in their practicality, they appreciate a Gemini Mercury to help them clarify their thoughts

Gemini... Just how many of us are talking at the same time? If there's two Gemini, there's at least four of us. Sure, it's amusing finishing each other's sentences at first...

Cancer... But tell me how you really feel... No, I'm not yawning...

Leo... It's a proud, noble adventure we've embarked on!

Virgo... Hey cousin, how's life treating you?

Libra... Me: *talks about one side of the story* Them: well to be fair *other side* Me: Ok I see it *talks about other side* Them: but to be fair *talks about first side Me: So do you know what your ordering yet? Waitress: *sigh*

Scorpio Hey let's talk about x. Let's really get into the depths about x. So, x equals y. Forever and for all time? No just for this case Years later... But you said x equals y. You were wrong or you lied... No, I said x equals y just in that case!

Sag... If I decided to be a stand up comic, I'd pick a Sag and be a comedy team. (S)he would be the comic, I'd be the deadpan "straight man".

Capricorn... For all the caps that come to mind, I don't know if I recall any with Mercury there... hmmm...

Aqua... Easy conversation. They seem to be able to "keep up" without knocking me too far off on a tangent.

Pisces... Another one I'll have to think about first...

Oh jeez, I'm so offended.

LOL kidding. I wonder if my Mercury in Aquarius being conjunct Neptune exact in the third makes it easier for us to communicate? It would make sense since our Mercuries are both influenced by Neptune.

As for me.

Aries - I get along really well with Aries Mercury. They are willing to listen to what I have to say and are really fun to talk to. They may be aggressive at times with the things they say, but that's fine (I've got Mercury-Mars square, I can really be mouthy lol).

Taurus - I can't say I have much experience with this Mercury. They do seem to relate to things differently in a way, like a more down-to-earth perspective of piecing things together where I just want to dissect everything apart.

Gemini - I knew a Taurus with a Gemini Mercury and loved the amount of enthusiasm she had when she was excited about something. That could be her Leo Moon though; these Mercuries are very easy for me to communicate with and they are very attentive to the things I say. However, they can be a bit too detached at times and sometimes they get too easily distracted.

Cancer - Don't have much experience with this Mercury.

Leo - An interesting Mercury. It could be because the Leo Mercuries I talk to might have it opposite Uranus, but even so they are easy for me to get along with. They understand how frustrating it is when someone doesn't give you the attention needed when saying something, which is something I can easily agree with lol.

Virgo - At an evolved level, these are fantastic Mercuries. They are very intelligent but are intelligent in such a realist fashion; they are life-intelligent so to speak. An evolved Virgo Mercury is fantastic to talk to, but an unevolved Virgo Mercury is a disaster trying to communicate with. They can be very repulsive.

Libra - They are easy to talk with and get along. If the Libra is too strong though, they'll be too set in trying to make everything fair, which is something I can get frustrated with. Some of them can be too selfless for their own good, but Libra Mercuries are good Mercuries. Can be intelligent too.

Scorpio - I know a friend with a Scorpio Mercury that was fascinated with my perceptive skills. I love talking with Scorpio Mercuries about post-modernist ideals and all the strange possibilities of life in itself. They are very interesting to talk to.

Sagittarius - Most likely a Mercury that I am most repulsed by. They are not bad Mercuries, but in my experience they can let things easily get to their head and act all big-headed when they don't even know much about the topic at hand. It's funny how when people complain about someone being big-headed, it always relates to them being a Sag Mercury. Sorry guys, but this is something I think you should try working on. Otherwise they are cool.

Capricorn: The ones I know are fascinated with sci-fi and history. My grandpa is such a Cap Mercury it's ridiculous; the movies he always gets me are sci-fi related and he's always telling me stories about the war, life, and alien discoveries. They're really interesting. My Grandpa though is also a Sag sun.

Aquarius: Strangely enough, sometimes Aquarius Mercuries can be frustrating to deal with. I know an Aquarius Mercury with a severe superiority complex, insulting people all the time in an argument and refusing to acknowledge that he's wrong. It's a disaster. However, I know an evolved Aquarius Mercury that is a lot better with this, at least trying to explain and go into detail when it comes to arguments. For me it depends.

Pisces: They are creative Mercuries, and thanks to my Merc-Neptune conjunction, I can get where they're coming from. Almost every Pisces Mercury I know is artistic in some form, and they happen to be really good at it as well. Perhaps not the most fact-focused, but very adept in the arts.

Those are my thoughts. Enjoy

Wait...does that mean that it always seems like I'm speaking another language?!

Honestly, I think a lot of people probably have that experience with Aqua Mercuries.

My husband does, and his Mercury is also in Virgo, heh.

I just talk randomly to random people, go off topic, and say things that I personally think are hilarious, but only certain types of people will get where my humor is coming from.

I feel like my Aqua Mercury is the verbal equivalent of the Ministry of Silly Walks.

Well, there's more to it than that, of course.

Hahaha!

That's why these threads can be difficult.
I think Pisces and especially your Virgo moon helps a lot. In Electro's case, Gemini moon helps a lot.
It's not set in stone obviously.
Otherwise, I'm sorry. We just can't be friends.

ETA: I think moon plays a big role actually. Because so often what we feel is what drives our communication.

ETA2: I looked up a guy at work that I have fun talking to. Sure enough, Aqua mercury. HOWEVER, he also has Virgo moon.

Very nice descriptions on the mercury, OP!

I have Pisces mercury and it's bang on It's okay that we all have different views. I am very interested in everyone's thought process and how they come to a conclusion. It's more interesting to understand that then the conclusion itself.

Sometimes I have difficulty in communication because I think it in my head and forget to actually verbalize my thoughts :/ It's kind of weird. I'm completing my sentences in my head sort of... and people get confused. Lol! I don't know if this is because of my 12H Saturn in Scorpio squaring my mercury in 3H. It's annoying but I've learned to communicate better as I get older.

Here is my experience based on the people I've met with these signs. I also haven't interacted with many people of each Mercury sign so I have a limited idea of how most of these Mercury signs work.

Mercury in Aries - Good at starting things but quick to move on. They can move from topic to topic and not finish anything. Mercury in Aries needs to have their way or they'll argue with you. They have no problem telling you the blunt truth without holding back. Their communication skills aren't always the best, but you never have to worry about these people beating around the bush. These people are bad at lying so expect them to be an open book half the time. What you see is pretty much what you get with these people. Just don't provoke them. Their temper is not pleasant. This is my Mercury sign and I just pulled this description out of a void. It might be accurate.

Mercury in Taurus - Nurturing, caring, and kind. My mom can be a bit too tolerant and passive though. She's not always upfront about things, but she's honest and hard-working.

Mercury in Gemini - Quite a bit of clashing with this one and the only Mercury placement I know more than one person for. My brother and I don't get along. He's too emotionally charged so I can't say anything to him that would tick him off or I might get hurt. He's talkative and can be friendly when he wants to be. He has knowledge of all sorts of subjects. His intelligence is reflected in his straight A's. My grandmother, on the other hand, was more self-controlled and not angry as often. She was extremely intelligent. She was a Chemistry professor, but she knew about a lot of things. She was very active mentally and physically.

Mercury in Cancer - We can get along but unless the rest of the chart says otherwise these people don't seem very interesting. Most of these descriptions only have a single example to go by though. It's difficult to say if anything I'm saying here is accurate.

Mercury in Leo - Loves children. She's optimistic, kind, tolerant, and she has a good sense of humor. Also, she has the kind of personality that most people like. She's fun to be around. My only complaint is these people are often busy and don't have a lot of free time.

Mercury in Virgo - Picky and critical, but attentive and observant. These people are intelligent, honest, and analytical. Just make sure you know what you're talking about or these people will pick apart every. Single. Thing you just said. They are not afraid of bringing up the details of your illogical argument. Not the best Mercury for me to interact with, but they're definitely reliable and capable. I can rely on having mental stimulation around a Mercury in Virgo, which means I'm not bored and I can tolerate them longer than some people.

Mercury in Libra - I can't say since I don't know one.

Mercury in Scorpio - These people are drawn to exploring darker subjects. Anything mysterious and taboo gets their attention. Although they're loyal they are also easy to upset but not necessarily quick to do something about it. Sometimes they're not understood by the rest of society so they can seem like outcasts. They are honest though and definitely able to stand up for themselves when they've finally had enough.

Mercury in Sagittarius - I can't say since I don't know one.

Mercury in Capricorn - Blunt and authoritative but has a hidden sense of humor. Honestly, I think something in my dad's chart makes him more lazy than most Mercury in Capricorns. I'm also not sure he's the best example.

Mercury in Aquarius - They're detached and unemotional, but at the same time they're honest, open-minded, and generally accepting.

Mercury in Pisces - I can't say since I don't know one.

I was just thinking about how, when I was small, I used to talk to anyone and everyone. People loved me, apparently, and I loved them. Being bullied really took that out of me. My Moon/Venus/SN are Mercury-ruled, but Mercury sits in the 6th house.

Even though everyone is different, I feel like I get along with people about the same way:

1) My Pisces moon seeks to understand and empathize with them. I do catch a LOT that I don't mention.

2) My fixed t-square (Aqua Mercury-Scorpio Uranus-Leo Saturn) gets into conversations with everyone in about the same careful, constrained, but somewhat unruly way.

To me, it seems like I treat everyone about the same, even though in my mind, I'm fully aware and appreciative of all their differences. Generally speaking I just love Mercury, love seeing all the different ways people communicate.

But I think I come across in a really homogenous or predictable fashion, and it might be off-putting to others, because they don't see all the nuances of difference in them that I am fully aware of but not revealing. As if I am not an accurate reflective surface...they won't see back so much what THEY are, but what I am.

Because my moon is private and my Mercury is fixed.

So I end up appreciating others, unable convey it accurately, losing people because of my communication problems....yeah.

^ 3H Libra Pluto, death of partnerships, via language?....And SCORPIO Uranus at the apex of the Mercury-Uranus-Saturn tsquare.

Maybe this is inaccurate and I won't believe it myself tomorrow. That's why I erase a lot...Mercury-Saturn wants things concrete, then I realize I overstated it, and Mercury-Uranus tries to undo it.

I appreciate all the responses and I am reading them.
It's interesting to get different perspectives. Also interesting that in some cases, same sign mercuries don't always get along very well.

With my rectified chart, Scorpio actually starts off my 3rd house. Which could explain, perhaps, my liking of Scorpio mercuries, generally speaking. My Neptune is also 3rd house (in Sag).

I said that I've not known Cancer mercury. Oops! I had a 3 year, very loving relationship with one and we remained friends for a long time. Long story.
It was like.... cuddling up on a cozy couch with your favorite blanket.

I have to say honestly that I've never really noticed much about people's Mercury sign characteristics...except for Sagittarius, who I do find of course very loud and often embarrassing in public for my Cap Mars and Virgo Moon.
But they're still hilarious.

I mostly notice only when someone's Mercury makes a hard, obnoxious aspect to something like my Mars or Pluto or Saturn, or my own Mercury.

I've noticed that Mercury in Aries people are a lot the way that Hannaramaa described, but I also find them to be very quick-witted and often hilarious as well.

Mercury in Virgo can often be very frustrating for me, because I want to TALK! I want to talk everything into the ground, until everything is resolved. That's probably a combo of my Pluto (trine Mercury), and just my Mercury in general.

I don't have that problem with the OP, of course, because we're not generally trying to hash out in-depth problems together, lol.

Although my husband's Virgo Mercury is conjunct my Moon, it's square my Neptune and opposite my Sun, and he has Saturn square Mercury natally, so...that can be frustrating for both of us!

But I think it's a valid point about the Moon sign. I'll have to think on that a bit more.

oh I didn't know he had Virgo Mercury. I knew some other placements of his but missed that somehow.

I think we both have wonderful instinct on how far to take our conversations and when to trim it back a bit. Which is nice! I appreciate that and it makes it very comfortable.
I also love how I can not talk to you for like, 3 or 4 weeks and then shoot a message over, "Hey I've started watching this show again." (Which is an actual example. )

I love mercury. I try to pay attention to them but usually I'm busy getting distracted with other placements, other topics, etc. Mercury is one of my loves of astrology though.

Virgo Mercury, 8th House. Though the thing that I've begun to recently really notice is that the Moon also plays a massive part in how you think and communicate... I think the moon is how you TAKE in and contemplate information though, whereas Mercury is more like like that rational, clear-headed part of us...tends to be WHAT we talk about but communication itself..still think its a mix of moon and mercury.
anyway.

Aries- Never known one personally.
Taurus- Pleasant to talk to. Often find them a TAD dull. The slowness or practicality doesn't bother me, it's just the inflexibility of thought.
Gemini- The only one's I've known have squared my mercury really closely, so they tended to grate on me. Mercury truly likes being in Gem though- they're natural speakers and I admire that.
Cancer- Sexy voices. I have no idea why!
Leo- Don't poke the lion... there's great pride in the intellectual complex here...
Virgo- I'll have to agree and say that I don't often get along with people of the same Mercury sign. I think especially since Virgo is exalted here, there can be a bit of competition. Most other's I've met can be really neurotic haha. They can be really critical about how other people speak. That being said I get where they're coming from.
Libra- My FAVOURITE mercury. I have countless friends with this mercury. The only thing I can think of is that my Mercury DUAD is in Libra... They're just very good at the give and take in conversations.
Scorpio- Natural simpatico. They entertain my 8th house babblings.
Sagittarius- Upbeat and optimistic! I've noticed repeatedly these are the one's who don't shy away from philosophical conversations.
Capricorn- Very SHORT. My Gemini Moon feels starved around them.
Aquarius- Indifferent to them. Not enough experience.
Pisces- A bit, uh...wishy washy. It's my 3rd house though so I actually can talk to them forever...

Maybe this is inaccurate and I won't believe it myself tomorrow. That's why I erase a lot...Mercury-Saturn wants things concrete, then I realize I overstated it, and Mercury-Uranus tries to undo it.

Sorry to quote - I know you like to edit like me (I also have the square). Your description of Pluto in the 3rd, has described my transit there. I can think that I'm expressing myself clearly, but some people (not all) will take it the opposite way. I'll think, "What, am I speaking Greek here?!" I've vented before, about wild assumptions made about me and my intentions/feelings. Even in my family. I could sit back and see that they had their own needs or reasons for inferring that, but it doesn't lessen the pain, as a target.

Mercury Virgo = Feels as if I'm with a distant logical cousin, theirs a feeling of familiarity with a slight difference.

Virgo mercury is good at seeing precise problems but poor at seeing the overall problem.

If we were repairing a car the Virgo would be the transmission mechanic while the Gemini would be a general mechanic with a good overall idea of the entire car. The Gemini wouldn't be as precise and perfect as the Virgo when it comes to the transmission.

Or a better example Virgo Mercury is the precise surgical knife which is specifically tailored for an operation.

Gemini Mercury is the versatile Swiss Army Knife which is sorta-good for all tasks.

Mercury Aquarius = One of my favorites, complements my Gemini mercury very well.
especially when a Gemini Mercury native ends up in a situation where they have figured out 10 ways to do something, but haven't decide which of the 10 is best.

Expect tough debates with neither mercury willing to admit fault.

Mercury in Taurus= Very slow and methodical with there process, but its perfect. Think of doing Calculus and every single line/step is correct.

Mercury Leo = Very quirky and unexpected can be a little fun.

You can expect some drama, exaggeration.
Or firmness when it comes to decision, opinions and ideas.

There almost willing to defend there viewpoint to the latter.
