I am noticing a pattern with Mars in Taurus folks, they "want" change but feel stuck and seem to lack drive and motivation to make those changes they "want" happen.

I really feel Mars in Taurus may be more at detriment than mars in cancer, yes mars in cancer can be intense and have issues regulating emotions but at least those emotions move them towards action and can be used to mobilize change.

With mars in Taurus I feel these folks get stuck and will verbalize they want more out of life but "willingness" to take steps towards change, drive and "motivation" seem to be absent or minimal, not strong enough.

I find this with my own Mars, but I'm too tired to get into it right now.

that can be taurus placements in general in my experience, it takes a lot for them to do anything even if it's in their best interest

they seem to have major issues with change

that being said i have a cap mars and motivation can be very difficult for me, i'll eventually force myself with **** , but generally speaking with no external pressure or anything major being on the line it can be very difficult for me to do **** even if it's in my best interest

not because i mind change (i don't) but just this general apathy

taurus can comfortably settle into the predictable nature of a rut, usually due to the fact that it just becomes their life

even something bad day in and day out can become sort of tolerable, people adapt to it and life goes on

change can be unpredictable and cause a good deal of upheaval which can cause discomfort which can be hard to deal with

people can find comfort even in bad situations if it's what they're used to and taurus is fond of whatever comforts they've managed to have so they'll keep the discomforts with them and just complain because that's easier

in a way taurus mars is more about endurance than action

mars isn't debilitated in taurus because the ability to stay steady and endure difficult things even if they take a long time while being stubborn enough to hold your ground is a very good thing

it isn't good for change but it can be good for life in general, being swayed to action purely out of emotion can be good for change but if those actions are ineffectual, misguided, or ill timed then what?

edit: btw i dislike the whole debilitated/exalted automatically equates with bad/good because it's more about the planet's inherent nature comfortably functioning than anything

in actual life situations or when you look at actual people these debilitations and exaltations can not only hold less weight but be seen as a good thing by others

it's very objective, cold terms that don't necessarily apply to human life because they're more about the nature of the signs and planets than the way these things are expressed in the real world

venus in pisces being exalted is a good example of this, very often these people seem to be in a bad position in their love lives because of this exalted placement whereas someone who is more critical and practical and focused on service (virgo its debilitated sign) may be better for a relationship

so why is venus exalted in pisces? because venus represents love and beauty and in idealized terms that goes to depths and isnt coloured by anything overly critical

runs deep and unconditional etc which makes venus very comfortable there

it isn't about criticisms or service but indulgence and so on, so virgo is hard for venus because these things are not idealized love and beauty, they're practical

but neither placement is bad or good to have necessarily for a person who's actually existing and living their lives or for the people interacting with them

also i personally know from having an exalted mars that it can be sort of laughable to be expected to reach the nature that's projected onto the placement

my mars placement is actually part of what made me initially look into sidereal and vedic, it just did not fit well at all

uhhhhhh I love this, this was really insightful, I feel you did a great job describing how you feel a mars in taurus feels and how is like for them. Thank you, I can feel you doing that intuitive talking as you wrote about it. I am re-reading it.

"in a way taurus mars is more about endurance than action"

That last statement was like a BAM, icing to the cake, you hit the core and it was a perfect way to finish your analysis.

I hear you, all those are great points.

I dont take debilitated and exalted super seriously hence why I commented on Mars in Taurus feeling to me in my own opinion more of an issue than mars in cancer as someone who values change, drive and action. Personal perspective and values will impact what one prefers and values in astrological placements like I love venus in scorpio, I can see the issues that it can present but I love that placement yet is considered at "fall" or "debilitated." I also kind of like mars in cancer even though I see the issues it can present but I have a certain respect for that placement. If you look at my chart it makes sense I like venus in scorpio and mars in cancer since my mars rules my IC/4H and my Venus falls in the 8H so I just relate those energies.

I have Taurus placements. I for one love and long for change! I'm struggling in my life right now as it feels as though it's been the same for a while, kind of.

While my homes have changed often, this hasn't been the case for nearly a decade. However, now while I come home to a stable environment, my work always changes therefore my external life outside keeps my mind somewhat busy with many changes.

Uranus rules my 4H and I have Uranus conjunct Moon so maybe this is why I love change when most Taurus's do not.

The Mars Taurus I knew drastically only changed his life when he was completely miserable in it. E.g his gf would kill himself if he left.

Took him a while as he didn't want her death on his shoulders, but he eventually left.

That takes a lot of courage, goood for him.

The only thing I have in Taurus is JUNO in Taurus opposite Saturn and I think once I live with someone it would take a lot for me to walk away even if a big part of me is curious and craves the change. Can be weirdly practical in this area despite my intensely romantic side fueled by my venus conjunct mars in leo in the 8th. If I am comfortable, feel secure and feel happier more days than sad say 70% of time, I let the imperfections be and stick it out, Juno in Taurus does rule marriage, Venus dating and the courting stage I feel, the phase before you move in maybe.

No, Pisces. but I can relate to what dumuzi said: it can be difficult for me to do something, even if it’s in my own best interest. With some things that isn’t the case, but other things that people just schedule, and get on with, I put off. I find that when I’m finally in the mood to do get something out of the way, something bigger gets in the way, like a lack of money, or COVID.

I remember mirage saying something about me liking fads. That isn’t actually the case, but I like it when I think I can follow a plan that’s already laid out, like the juice cleanse I’ve mentioned before. I get videos every day, and the videos help to get me going.

Maybe this should go in a Mars in Pisces thread. I don’t think I know any (or many) Mars in Taurus.

No this is great. I can see how mars in pisces can relate to mars in taurus and one of the mars in taurus I am thinking about has mars sextile a planet in pisces and sun conjunct neptune. I find he feeds of his environment so if he is around people who are productive and focused and motivated he can then follow into that, similar to what you are expressing in a sense.

Thanks for sharing

thanks, i laughed at virgo this response was 😄

as for your other comment i had a feeling you took issue with the debilitation/exaltation issue based on what you said about cancer mars

in my experience with cancer mars (and i can struggle with people who have this placement, not in terms of getting along i can do that fine, but with how i view their actions...i was also raised by one) i notice there's a tendency to get explosive with and micromanage things that don't mean much or don't really involve them and then low boundaries in places where they should put their foot down (a cancer mars ex fwbs would throw a tantrum at his gf for not saying she stopped at the gas station on her way home from work, but when she was obviously cheating on him he'd just smoke weed with my ex and i about it. knew each other for years btw the benefits was a thing during their break ups)

like they'll go to 100 mediating a disagreement they misunderstood between you and someone else, but then when someone else is outright infringing on them as a human they'll clam up and not do **** just seethe about it later

so i can see why mars is debilitated here in that sense if mars is action and action is taken in situations where it's unnecessary and then can be ineffectual when it needs to take action then mars can't comfortably sit there

they can be well meaning but it's something i've noticed a lot with the placement, they're far more likely to try to manage your life than their own ****

@teasel

yeah i don't get how people function sometimes and just have **** together, i find it amazing, especially if they're organized

i have a tendency to procrastinate until i absolutely can't for external reasons or something has built up so much that it's only getting increasingly difficult the more i wait and i can't stand it anymore

then i have do it all at once even if it means barely sleeping or stopping until it's done, this is because if i stop i'm unlikely to go back to it i'll just find something else to do get distracted and leave it unfinished

i struggle with following plans that are prelaid out too, i don't like them, i'm bad with routines and sticking to things that are rigid generally too (i get bored, feel like i want to try other things) prelaid plans tend to be more like guidelines for me rather than things to actually follow

they're good for ideas and a sense of stuff but without freedom to sort of jump around with things i get put off and then don't do anything

distractions are a big issue for me often too, i'm the sort of person who will clean and find a book i forgot about, and next thing i know i'm sitting around reading and everything is still a mess around me

my ex was a hoarder so this was worse when we lived together because she had all kinds of distracting **** from when she was a kid even so middle of cleaning and it'd be like "oh **** a kaleidoscope time to wander around looking at the mess instead of cleaning it" (this literally would happen every time i found that kaleidoscope, then i'd put it down and forget it existed until the next time)

uranus could definitely have an effect on things, because i've seen this with taurus suns and moons not just mars

whole chart has to be looked at with individuals, this is just a general theme i've noticed with taurus

that's good your friend got out of that btw, my ex would do the suicide thing a lot even post break up she did

i had the mentality though that i made promises so the right thing to do was keep trying to make it work no matter how horrible it got because commitment 🤷‍♀️

i was actually telling a friend of mine the other day that it's crazy to me that she stalks me now and misses me because she could've indefinitely kept making my life hell if she hadn't broken up with me

i would've just stayed because of promises and concern for her + we were open anyway so whatever she didn't give me i was free to seek elsewhere so everything i needed from another human i was allowed to outsource even though it was all really ******* horrible

i'm like that though even with friends usually, it's only been this past year or so where i've really worked on putting up boundaries and not just endlessly getting sucked into **** because already there (i have no taurus btw, it's my 8th house and empty, venus is my chart ruler and conjunct my ascendant though)

i have a lot of guilt issues when it comes to boundaries and "abandoning" (it can feel like that for me) people even if it's a net negative for me to avoid those things

i struggle with self preservation

@dumuzi I did not take issue with your comment about mars in cancer or exaltations and debilitations, on the contrary I said I too dont take that too seriously although I keep it in mind and said you made good points.

I am aware of the issues with mars in cancer, had a client with that placement that broke the bones in his hand twice from punching people and would black out from anger but personally I have more issue with mars in taurus. Mars in cancer can be unstable and explode but they take initiative and work hard, go after what they want. With mars in Taurus I personally see men who are comfortable with staying at home, not working and been taken cared of by their parents or significant other.

Come to think of it Mars is in detriment in Taurus and at fall in cancer.

My brother has mars in taurus conjunct moon and is in his 40s and never left home, still lives with my parents.

oh i meant like you agreed with me that it's not something to take too seriously, like you take issue with the idea that debilitated ='s bad and exalted ='s good, not with what i said

i figured you agreed and you do

did i say it stupid? i may have, i'm pretty tired and out of it so 🤷‍♀️ my bad

i keep it in mind too because it makes sense when you take the nature of the planets and signs in mind as a result it sort of really drills in their meanings and functions

like you mentioned synastry plays a role in it when it comes to actual people (along with aspects and planetary strength etc)

i just sort of touched on why i can see cancer mars as debilitated because prior to that my brain couldn't function on the topic (that's why i used venus as an example instead) and it clicked then

i can find cancer mars frustrating but at this point in my life i'm mostly just wary of anyone with a lot of scorpio 🤣 too many experiences

i always forget about planets being in detriment for some reason, makes sense though especially given what you said

the cancer mars ex fwbs was usually good about work except he also had a habit of self sabotage eventually with a lot in his life, but he had a lot of hard aspects and **** too (sun opposite mars was one)

Wow hypatia238!! That's not good. I know someone with Mars in Taurus that trained her daughter to be uneducated and keeps her living at home so she can't work and has to depend on her. Her other daughter is the same just having lots of kids with different men since she was 20 who just lived off welfare and has never worked and only knows how to live off others.

The Mars in Taurus I mentioned previously, did an apprenticeship in 1988 when he was 16. He's still there!!! He's never worked anywhere else and managed to save 100's of thousands of dollars in cash! So while he never branched out he did well to make a small fortune.

Taurus Mars is usually motivated to act when they are (as we say in South Africa) "gatvol".

This means that Tau Mars is motivated to change thing drastically when their bucket gets "full". And they just can't take reality being "as is" anymore.

Tau is earth(symbolically) and Mars is energy. Earth doesn't move much-unless there is an Earthquake. And Earthquakes don't happen often (thank God). But when they do,they can be devastating.

So Tau doesn't like to "waste" energy by doing something that they'll probably see no benefit in changing in the long term. This is a very long-suffering sign. But when they have had enough, they have had ENOUGH!!

Say for instance their house is dirty. They will likely leave it until the environment gets "uninhabitable" before they hire help or someone to clean it from top to bottom.

The above is ofcourse an extreme example. But it illustrates the nature of passively doing nothing, building momentum. Then one day letting it all out.

The opposite of Tau is Sco. And Sco is 'extremes' to Tau. And when Tau gets ready to clean the house, lose weight, change careers, start a business etc. They can go to extremes (Sco) on the action & alter their life irrevocably.

Libra Mars is similar. The injustice has to be clear, unequivocal and extreme for Libra to say "That's enough" and act to swiftly change things-often employing the harsh/aggressive tactics of their extreme opposite Aries.
