What is considered short for a woman? I asked one of the nurses I work with to measure my height, and it came to 5'3 and 3 quarters. I always assumed under 5'4 was considered short. Am I short?IP: Logged |

In the US, fashions tailored for women 5'3" and under are "petite." You might want to give petites a try just to see if the length works better on your frame. I know a woman who is 5'5" who buys petite tops because her torso is a little shorter than average. As for if you are culturally "short," the average height of an adult woman in the US is 5'3.9". Different ethnic groups have their own averages, but that number is across all groups. One of friends is 5'1" and she has a t-shirt that says, "I'm not short. I'm fun-sized." IP: Logged |

Fun-sized. That's cute. The problem is that I have a huge rack. Depending on weight and bra manufacturers it ranges from 38C-40D. I guess I'll just mix and match. IP: Logged |

you know, im 6'3, male obviously, but i realise only when people tell me that i'm tall, otherwise i don't notice. there are some good and bads: in a concert, sometimes i can see slightly better, not always because the guy in front is just as tall or more; it is often a problem cause i'm aware that i prevent people behind to see anything; often i knock my head in lamps in people's house. how many times, well, until i remember on the positive side i can easily reach the top shelves in shops it's hard to be unnoticed when u are tall, you kind of become self conscious, although u feel safe in most threatening situations. getting clothes is alright but shoes it's often a pain; i do 46 in french size, which is the threshold of big sizes, if i needed only 45, then the choice would be much more important, i manage to find some though, it's just that the style comes in second when you have to choose Between only a few pairs i eat more too, my mum used to tell me when i was growing up that it's better to have me in pictures than at the table i try to watch out that habit i'm 86 kg and that's fine like this on the plus side i can do physical work without problems (but i love cooking and sleeping) i notice it only when people tell me

I am 5ft 1 and a half inches!!I never noticed how short I was until my mid twenties. Suddenly I realised I was left out of conversations at parties when people would only look at the people they had horizontal eye contact with. IP: Logged |

I'd say that's considered short. I'm @ five' six and i think that's average. I can wear some petite shirts but not really their pants. Yes, you might want to shop the petites sections. IP: Logged |

HAH!I am five feet and 1/4 inch. Yes, I claim that dang 1/4 inch from hanging upside down from monkey bars, thinking it would stretch me. *here's a glimpse into shortdom... * innovative but sometimes imperfect inventions on reaching things. EX. The Salad Tongs. You need something from the cupboard which is too high, (they are ALL too high) so you get out your salad tongs and perfect your skills in robotics. *note* plastic ones will break, over and over, thereby dropping soup cans on your head, so just invest in the metal ones and get that over with. * Lamp and fans pulls. You can't reach the chain, again your too lazy to go get the step ladder, so what do you do? Sweat in the darkness? Freeze in the light? NO, you attach annoying hangy things to the chain, that would drag on Pire's head, just so you can have the God given right to see and not burn up in your home. * The constant short comments. "Did you know your short?" NO, I never noticed, thanks for enlightening me. By the way you have ugly knees. * The Bathroom Mirror. Can never see your whole face, therefore should not be responsible for grievous makeup errors. uggg, I could go on, but why? No one listens to short people!!!!!! IP: Logged |

hey starr33! It doesn't happen to me anymore, and I put that down to living in a different city/country than my hometown. I think my hometown has some serious social issues going on.... IP: Logged |

Petite trousers - yes. Advantages? A Frenchman once taught me the expression "elle suce debout", but it wasn't Pire. IP: Logged |
