Can you recommend a reliable source for finding accurate birth data on public figures, celebrities, etc. I don't know where to start. Most of the celebrity databases I'm aware of, you have to pay for them.

Thanks, Sue

Moon conjunct Merc in the 12th would tend to incline a person to decision making on an emotional rather than a logical basis...her heart probably rules her head, since the 12th house is ruled by the emotional sign of Pisces.

Merc conjunct Ascendent is probably why she is so unabashed in all she does and says, why she is so vocal about how she feels and so care-a-hang....she is not afraid to communicate her opinions.

Having said that, very few people must know the real Madonna with all the 12th house activity going on. Her public persona and the person she is at home may be drastically different.
This aspect is also probably responsible for her agile body.

She must be prone to frequent periods of soul-searching and introspection with her Merc conjunct Pluto in the 12th. She must have a deep need to find all the answers she is desperately looking for.

Merc sextile Neptune would make her idealistic and honest.

Square MC -
Aphrodite/Lanny, could you explain the significance of the midheaven in a natal chart and how it interacts with the other elements in it, because I'm never sure how to interpret the MC aspects.

I'm going to take a shot anyway, and say that she may not always find the perfect outlet to express how she really feels in her career.

I won't do Madonna also ... I've got a database at home. I'll just wait until I get home and look someone else up.

OK ... thought I'd look at Joan of Arc since she is a Cappy like me.

She has mercury in Capricorn in the 6th which allows her to communicate in a disciplined and organized manner. Being that it is in the 6th house she has the ability to use those skills in some type of service oriented field.

Mercury sextile Jupiter gives her the opportunity to impart truth and justice in the way she communicates but can also lead to exaggeration.

Mercury opposing Neptune means that sometime's her spiritual visions can clash with her logical thinking.

Mercury sextile Chiron means that although her words and thoughts may sometimes cause her grief, she has the ability to overcome these communication barriers and ultimately use these as an opportunity to heal herself and others.

I can't really tell you how she used these qualities because I don't know enough about her. I know she lead many battles and was burned at the stake which may be as a result of her Mecury opposition Neptune if she at all lead anyone to believe that she was using occult powers to her benefit.

Sun - Capricorn
Moon - Pisces
Rising - Leo (not confirmed)
Mercury - Capricorn, 6th House, sextile Jupiter, opposing Neptune and sextile Chiron.

Mercury in 2nd House
Merc semi-sextile CapricornChiron/North Node conjunction (in 1st)
Merc trine GeminiJupiter Rx (in 6th)
Merc inconjunct CancerUranus Rx/South Node (in 7th)
Mercury square ScorpMars (in 11th)
Merc opposition LeoPluto Rx (in 9th)
Merc trine LibraNeptune Rx (in 10th)
Merc trine MC in Libra

Well go figya, I chomped off a mouthful too big to chew! I invite everybody to leap in and give it a go, too!

This chart shows an unusual individual (AquaSun) whose strong, high-minded and outspoken personality (SagAsc., tenanted 1st House) is marked by personal encounters with being wounded (in only earth in chart-- the body, and via politics of power), that is destined to be used to heal others (Chiron/NorthNode conjunction in the 1st House opposite 7th House Uranus conjunct South Node). This person is fully destined (esp. tight Merc trine on MC) to use their gifted mind (multiple Mercury aspects!). Merc is in the 2nd House, indicating a concern with values. Another indicator of healing others, especially in a public sense, is shown by AquaMerc (who cares mentally about "others" and "groups") trining Jupiter in Gemini in the 6th House of service and reform. Jupiter in Gem says this individual has big ideas they must communicate to others. The trine to Jupiter also indicates that luck and opportunity come through Mercury (it also trines her conjunct AquaVenus and AquaSun, meaning the quality of expression will be via a "big" personality, as compared to someone else who might have less charisma but an equally excellent mind). The opposition to Pluto helps this person get deep, and do research, and gives their words and ideas the power to influence and educate (Pluto in 9th), and lends conviction to the actual speaking voice (the Merc in 2nd house also lends pleasantness to the voice by Venusian house quality). The loose trine to Neptune adds a spiritual and almost wistful compassion quality to the voice and ideas; a vulnerability that can endear, as it resonates with others. Oprah's nurture your "spirit" content comes honestly.

However these Merc aspects are by no means easy. Many aspect outer planets are Retrograde; she's had to struggle for every break, but then again, only someone who had struggled this hard could handle the huge work involved in her actual NorthNode/Chiron destiny, The Oprah Winfrey Show. Also, imagine having such an impatient (AquaMerc), flying mind, and having to suffer delays, or prejudice, or fools... her Merc square Mars shows a temper that can express itself either in a Plutonic way (Mars square Pluto, confrontation and cutting deep), or in an unusual, shocking way (Mars trine Uranus). This Merc square Mars is therefore connected to potential violence, but since the square is a "learning" aspect, she can have learned strategies to channel her natural impatience and anger into constructive channels-- maybe this is the drive behind her fast-paced interviews and heavily edited shows. It can also mean she is brutally honest with her friends and peer groups! (11th House) And given that her "peer group" includes the rich, famous and powerful, that provides us with those wonderful "Oprah" moments when she puts someone big right in their place!

Mercury is the completely dominant planet in her chart. Wow. More I could say, but I've already said a lot!

hi sunshyne,

excellent analysis on madonna's mercury

what i like is that with her mercury in the 12th conjunct her ascendant---she communicates to us what we are afraid to publicly say about "secrets" and "taboos." she has been handsomely rewarded financially by listeners. she certainly does have an active mercury.

"Square MC - Aphrodite/Lanny, could you explain the significance of the midheaven in a natal chart and how it interacts with the other elements in it, because I'm never sure how to interpret the MC aspects."

MC stands for Medium Coeli in latin. the angle is significant in interpreting how one projects their public persona for the world at large. aspects to it indicate how an individual directs their career, what kinds of contributions they make, and the impact they have towards the public.

hi heidi,

joan of arc is an amazing woman thank you for choosing her.

i don't think she is regarded in history as foolish, or naive. what do you think? i wonder how her mercury in capricorn imparted a noble dignity for what she beLIeVEd in.

hi lunargirl,

i am going to read your interpretations a few times more.

initially, with mercury in the 2nd house, we know she earns a living with her voice. how cool is that?

i find it great that all of the people chosen here for this exercise have been women
