Is that true that people aren't allowed near stonehenge anymore?

My ex boyfriend went and said they didn't allow anyone to because some idiot kids were writing all over it.

I heard just being near it you can feel some type of energy?

He said he felt that.

re: stonehenge
*** Is that true that people aren't allowed near stonehenge anymore? ***

evidently that be the case these days .. ... ..

i visited there years back .. .. by motorcycle with leo g/f on back ..
.. was a dark windswept grey afternoon and i (we) still had loads to drive/ride
before getting back home ( about 300 miles) .. personaly all i could see was a
bunch of big stones and wondered what all the fuss was about .. didn't feel anything
at all .. except wanting to get moving home .. ... leo g/f .. on the other hand ..
.. was estatic .. simply to be around said lumps of rock .. lousy weather 'n cold ..
or not .. ... ..

.. however at St.H'nge .. we had just come from Glastonbury .. and had camped in a
field just near to the "Tor" ( see links below ) ... .. now that was something special
in the 'feeling mystical' department .. .. hard to describe .. let alone explain .. but a feeling
of real contentment and peace .....

check out the 'ley lines' notes ... in the link about the 'Tor' ..

.. good feeling about the town itself .. wouldn't mind living there .. bit touristy though :-)

I live relatively close to stonehenge, about an hours drive away, and its true, you cannot get very close anymore. The last time we visited there was when I was a teeny weeny kiddy widdy, and I seem to recall us being stood a great distance away from the stones, although at that tender age my relationship to the size of the world was measured by the fact I could talk with my dads kneecaps.

Have you seen other old British comedies like 'Only Fools and Horses' and 'Faulty Towers' (inspired by the Monty Pythonesque John Cleese).

I should say that we English should share equal thanks with the USA! Your shows 'Friends', 'Will and Grace' and 'Scrubs' (very english-like humour in this one) are fantastic to watch!!

I see Stonehenge every time I have to drive back down to Somerset. It's just by the side of the road on the A303 - you look to the right and it's just THERE. Never actually stopped & looked closer, perhaps I should, maybe I'd get some spiritual revelation

Since watching "Spinal Tap", Stonehenge is forever associated w/ them in my mind: "all I know is that there was a Stone Age monument on stage which was in danger of being trampled by a dwarf" Love it

Blackadder's not bad, but Rowan Atkinson is a bit overdone now and I HATE Stephen Fry, I won't say he quite precipitates me towards acts of violence, but...!! Hugh Laurie's not too bad. He also fills more serious film roles well.

re:
Stephen Fry / Hugh Laurie .. ..
.. thought the sitcom with SF playing butler/manservant to HL was quite funny ..
.. ( i forget the series title ) ..

.. "Spinal Tap" .. a work of genius ..

.. did not someone do a live reconstruction of the building methods used for stonhenge ? .. as in "this how we think they did .. lets try the theory out" .. ..

has anyone here spent time in the usa and england ? .. .. i'd be curious as to ppls observations about social behavior vis a vis the two ..

re: Ben Eltons' .. "Dead Famous" .. .. .. from the amazon site ...

* * * * * * * * *

"Peeping Tom productions invent the perfect TV programme: House Arrest . Its slogan is: "One house. Ten contestants. Thirty cameras. Forty microphones. One survivor." This is all a clever parody of the massive TV hit Big Brother, with its vain, ambitious contestants with their:

.. tattoos and their nipple rings, their mutual interest in star signs, their endless hugging and touching, and above all their complete lack of genuine intellectual curiosity about one single thing on this planet that was not directly connected with themselves.

However, Elton adds a clever twist to this very funny send-up. On Day 27 of the programme, one of the housemates is killed live on TV. Everyone in the country has a theory about the killer, "indeed the only person who seemed to have absolutely no idea whatsoever of the killer's identity was Inspector Stanley Spencer Coleridge, the police officer in charge of the investigation". Coleridge is an old fogey from the 1950s, who has to learn quickly about lesbians, piercings, blow jobs and the seductions of TV fame before he can crack the case."

AT ~

Recently I set up my own webpage, which you can do for free, and most of them give you at least 15mb of free storage, with your own url. Your pic has to have a url to be copied in here as an image. Either make or change your pic to .jpg or .gif. Then upload it to your website or a place like www.photobucket.com . Then you can come to the little LL text box and put the beginning and ending tags around it:

You can see what other people have done by right-clicking on any pictures in any posts, going to Properties in the popup menu, and noting the url address.

Good luck, I'd love to see some of your work!!!
