There are honestly a lot of people I secretly, or not so secretly like or admire here, but I'm starting this thread just so I can talk to Sue G, because she's cool. I love how Sue talks and what she talks about almost all of the time. There's a certain freedom I see that I'm drawn to.

Hey Sue!

Actually, I've been neglecting my guitar. Bad me!

Yes, I sometimes have to relearn, but I've known a couple Pearl Jam songs. My best friend was a big fan of them when my friend and I were in the navy. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the low timbre of voice needed to sing it (though he's a great Taurus singer overall). I, on the other hand, can sing along with Eddie, and I really love to. I haven't learned many of their songs, but one I've always returned to is Elderly Woman Behind a Counter in a Small Town. That song's in 3/4 time signature, which I love (it means that it has a waltz-like feel, or you count 3 beats per measure rather than the standard rock 4 count. Lotsa Irish music is in 3/4 I'm pretty sure.).

Tomorrow night I'll be playing bass in San Francisco. I go with a Christian group that feeds the homeless there, and another guy and I play music all night in United Nations Plaza. I'm not particularly religious, but I do feel a certain call to service, and this is a way for me to do something.

Anyway, thanks for asking about that. I really should start playing music more. I need some form of meditation in my life, and music has always been good for that. My Gemini ascendant is ever-anxious, and I didn't realize it before, but me playing music may actually steady me.

What kind of music do I play? Well, I listen to mostly alternative mostly from your side of the Atlantic. I'm not even sure you call it that over there. Maybe it's just considered rock or something. My music would still be rock, but it's definitely on the lighter side. It's tough for me to objectively say what my music sounds like. I'll say that it's interesting maybe even sophisticated (if I can say that). A lot of it's got a natural organic power to it. I pick and I strum, and I sometimes do both in the same song. It's definitely evocative. I'm certain you'd love it. Maybe I'll give you my MSN or Yahoo and play for you sometime.

Wow! Aren't I chatty? Whenever I notice I've been talking a lot about myself I get a bit self-conscious.

Anyway....talk to you again soon,

AG

I was given a bass tonight!!! Yay! It's older, and a bit beat up, but still ...how cool is my Sag friend for getting it for me. I normally play bass to back him up. He's a fairly stereotypical great guitar player. He's one of those people that has learned loads and loads of popular guitar songs from all the best guitar bands (most, if not all, note for note).

How's this for coincidence?:

The last bass I was in possession of was on loan from a Sag I used to play with. That Sag wasn't as good a guitarist as me, but since he sang, and I could make bass more interesting than he could, I got put on bass (his brand new bass). I still have a bass amp I bought for that experience, so I'm all set.

I feel blessed tonight.

---------------------
For those few who care, it's an Ibanez ATK 300. It's a fairly large brute of a bass. So far the sound is a bit on the bright side, like punkish. My friend suspects something odd in the electronics, which he'll eventually look into.

AcousticGod!

Do you write any of your own songs? I do - kinda folk/rock, mixture of freestyle/melodic, reasonably free rhythms.

I have a (I think)Columbus electric guitar that I got when I was 15 but have only just started to play more often, as it were. I used to be more into keyboards as piano was my main instrument, but for the last couple of years I've actually turned to the guitar more.

From time to time I make recordings of my own stuff. If you like I can send an MP3 or CD. I'd be interested to hear your music too.

Yeah, I mostly write my own music, and by mostly I mean that's what I spend the majority of my time playing doing. As far as writing songs with lyrics and vocals, I think I can ...I have in the past...but I need a bit more practice. There are so many people who write crap lyrics, but I have much more admiration for those who do a good job of it.

Somewhere I've got a cheap program I can use to record myself. Often I just opt to play to someone over the internet, because it's easier.

Sure, you can email me (the address is in my profile).

Very difficult at times Acoustic, hard to know what to do with it all - there are very few people I could be my true myself with! I think I would have made a good actor or maybe the singer of a rock band or dancer, something to channel all that passion into. Luckily I live with a very understanding earth sign guy who is very good to me, although at times I know I overwhelm him (and myself). It is finding an outlet for my emotions. I find that doing music, singing, learning to play an instrument has been the saving of me me - to express creatively is everything, and luckily since moving to Ireland I have met cool people who have helped me with that. The other problem is Acoustic, I can at times see straight thro people (I get called Sue the witch) ha ha - well I suppose I am - I do love spells and healing and stuff, very witchy I suppose with all the 8th house stuff going on, I cant escape it. So at times I can feel isolated, although for the past year or so I have made good friends, and this wont surprise you, they are all musicians, artists, healers and clairvoyants - very interesting people who I can totally be myself with - it is a little bit of heaven!!! Ive heard Venus in Scorpio woman are social butterflies, this is true of me, I am up for the craic and when I am out I am very very sociable, my husband says I "shine" - one of his friends (a gay guy from NZ), a very dramatic and lovely man said to me once "you are the light bulb and we are the moths: - what a way with words hey? So this is like a contradiction in my life, its like I know I can help others, have a great time when I am out - but there has been/still is this inner complexity, which has brought depression and sadness, I think its a conditon called being human lol, but I am learning to channel it into something which I love, music.
Anyway thanks again for your kindness, and if theres anything I can help you with, please ask - love and light (and a little darkness) Sue x

Before I forget, where did you move from?

I can believe that you shine. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think there's an innocence about you, or a purity that you can tap into. It's not naivete, but rather allowing yourself your own purity of being despite your experiences. Maybe it is all of those 8th house placements. I don't know, but I think the faith you have is great, and those who open up to you have a great friend indeed.

quote:

I don't have all of those things in my 8th house, but I too feel pretty intense contradictions. I can't even articulate them. I get obsessive over any vehicle of self-discovery. Someday, though...someday I'll learn.

How could I take what you say the wrong way AG, when the words you write are beautiful, and so well articulated. I am aware of this innocence, we all possess it I believe from birth, but it is so easily lost as we grow older. I cannot, at times, believe I am gonna be 47 this year, it hardly seems possible, there is such a young and fresh energy which lives within me and for you to pick that up on line is amazing - I always said some of the greatest healers and psychics I met were Capricorns, very wise, old souls. My mum is one, she always has had a great spiritual influence in my life. Her family were from romany gypsies and all the women practised spiritualism, they used to call it "spirit knocking" - calling on the dead - oooeeerrrr!!!! I too have inherited this interest. My fathers side of family were from Co. Clare in Ireland. I lived in England before I came here, I was born there Acoustic, but didnt feel happy, now I know why Ireland is my spiritual home. I cannot begin to explain the joy and sorrow (memories) living here has brought me. I am rooted firm and cannot move out of the country and for a gypsy woman that is very unusual, wouldnt you say? Yes, you are right my faith is strong and true, like many others, at times life has brought me to my knees and where I would be now without my faith, who knows, maybe six feet under. I hope to be a "great friend" when I can, I take my relationships seriously, would be mortified if I let anyone down, I am at times a very serious person, although many would be surprised by this, coz when I am out, I am very lght and breezy, when Im around music and good people, thats when I become free!
I feel with you, Acoustic, you are indeed beginning with resistance to open up to your true self, I think you said you are 30+, this is the time I began to truly flower, painful, yet very enlightening - we are so lucky to have outlets to talk, therapy, friends and of course LL, imagine how it is not to have anyone or anywhere to go and express - that would be my own living hell.
Your words really moved me and I thank you, cos just before I switched on my computer, I had gone thro something which was painful to me and I asked the universe to send me something nice...........and there it was........I am sending you some Irish magic..........coming at you N O W Mr. Guitar man xx

You know when I was writing that about you Sue there were actually a few more lines, but they rhymed. I thought that might be a little cheesy, or seem contrived, so I took them out. You clearly understood what I was talking about, though.

I feel like I've known other people like you, and I just get such a feeling of warmth and security from your openness. It's with people like you that I feel able to let my burdens go for awhile, and let my own freedom and humor fly. Or I can express emotions that I'm too proud(?) or controlled or maybe scared to let loose with in most situations. It's nice. It's the knowledge that you wouldn't judge as odd the things that other people do.

I hope you don't feel burdened by what I'm saying. It's not that I'm asking anything of you, just saying that I sense that about you. For me, yours is a personality I'm at home with.

I am 32. I didn't know about that cycle thing that happens around 28. I don't honestly know where my life is going. It is time to just let go of what had been expected. I wonder if some parents ever realize that if they'd just given in to letting their kids develop their own talents their kids would have actually exceeded expectation. I feel a mourning for a life I feel I should have lead. I don't feel like I've ever had a partner in life, and I think that's important. Sounds gloomy doesn't it? <--I say that as I realize other people may be reading.

So now I'm realizing the unusual track my life may be on, and trying to realize the adjustments I may need to make. Ideas I'd resisted like starting my own business, or finding an unorthodox source of income to accomodate my own restlessness when it comes to work, (and the fact that I both strive for the recognition of superiors while also never bowing to authority) are starting to make more sense. Some of the astrological reports I've gotten talk about there being two parts to my nature, and my happiness coming through espressing both harmoniously. That's part of what I need to figure out.

Anyway, that'll do me for now. Hope all is well with you.

Oh, and check out my thread in Universal Codes. That's a perplexing issue.

sue g, you know I think you're lovely.

quote:
there are very few people I could be my true myself with!

Many of us often wear different faces for different situations, but as life goes on, the less it becomes worth it to represent ourselves as anything but what we are. You're lovely; if someone doesn't appreciate who you truly are, you shouldn't let it bother you. Pat 'em on the head and move on from that kind of energy.

Hey girls, I am very touched by your words, thanks for being so open hearted and kind, it means a lot - love to you all

Acoustic, you write so well and openly, I know, at times, this can be hard for Capricorns, I was raised by one, my mam, and she described hereself as "always holding back". I remember her saying to me once, "oh our susan, you feel as comfortable to be with as putting on an old shoe". She also used to say that I looked into peoples souls and I think for her that was a little scarey! Its strange, cos me and her had a quite harmonious bond when I was younger, but as I got older she sort of lost control and I know she was bemused by my "free spirit" attitude, but now she is accepting me, and I her - we love each other. One of her fave expressions is "if the love is there, you wil get thro anything" - aaahhh lovely words.
I totally relate to what you say - I feel it so important to relate to others, even if it is only one or two along the rocky road of life. I know you are at a turning point - its like breaking out of the old and bringing on the new part of you that was always there, but had been hidden. I was always scared, a little, to be myself, and now - RELIEF - I am me and forever that will be. I feel the reason you didnt have a love thing going before AG is cos you needed to wait, some meet the one later, I got together with my partner when I was 30 and that was after two disasterous marriages! I think once you meet her, it will be for life, I also got a message for you that you would make an excellent healer, in fact you do that now, but dont realise it (maybe with friends and people you meet along the way). I, like you always had a problem with authority, hence Ive not worked for a boss for a long time - I have a strange attitude to money, live on a prayer, ask for it to come when its needed. My hubbie used to think I was strange, but now he will say to me "Sue will you do a money spell, weve no money in the bank", so I do and yes it comes, sure enough, it works. I dont believe in part time faith, I feel we have to live and walk in it, breathe it, feel it, believe in it, even when life brings us to our knees, thro the bad and good times. Religion has no part to play in my life, but love and faith do, all the time. A clairvoyant once told me that I was sent to help guide others, I didnt know then what she meant, but I am beginning to understand - I like to reach out and touch souls - it has to be meaningful for me, whatever I do, I am hoping I can help any who seek it, including you Acoustic. Please post the rhymes, I love poetry and I just know it wont be cheesy - love and faith Sue

You believe when other people wouldn't
You conceive of things other people couldn't

-----------

Those are the lines I left out.

quote:
I also got a message for you that you would make an excellent healer,

My name means Healer. It's not surprising to me, I just don't know how that will manifest or how it currently manifests. If I'm healing now, I'm not sure what I do that heals others. I do know as a Capricorn that I broadcast a certain calm strength that people tend to enjoy. I'm like the tree people come to sit under to get out of the heat.

I'll write more later.
