Dear Randall,

Do you have complete faith in Linda's works?

Do you accept Star Signs as absolute truth?

I will look forward to your reply, Randall. This is not a pot I wish to stir; I am genuinely interested in your answer.

I take the basic gist of Star Signs as Truth, but I do think she added her personal opinions in the mix and maybe a tiny bit of misinformation as well.

There are no "absolute" Truths. There are varying shades of grey.

Thank you Randall.

On this, I couldn't agree more. Though I wish we used a better color as the metaphor cliche. LOL Like, "Varying shades of red..."

Hello my fav Aries

I do Believe in Absolute Truths. In the material form we can`t see thru the mists and see them as shades of gray.

My unasked for input .

As dawn turns to day
And day turns to dusk
And night comes
And dawn returns again
And the noon and the midnite
Forever separated by
All that goes between
In shadings of light to dark.

Shadings are normal in all things.
Balance.

Dear Juni: I love you, and it's lovely to see you.

lotus: I suppose I do believe in some absolute truths! Like, I know it's an absolute truth that you are no authority on Life, The Universe and Everything. I think you fancy yourself one of the Gods, but you are false.

Hello Juni dear You know, I've thought on these sorts of things so much in my time. And as much as I would like to believe in anything as an absolute, I see no proof, nor do I feel any proof. Belief, by its very definition, is lack of proof. And knowing, well, knowing is highly personal. When someone says "I know in my heart this is truth" he speaks only for himself. There are those who know that God is Christian, that Allah is the One God, that Satan rules all that is evil, who know what is bad and what is good. I would not presume to speak for the God/dess in such a manner.

Philosophy is fashion.

Beliefs change.

There were those who knew the world was flat. There are those who knew Pluto was a planet, though it doesn't even fit the definition and may soon lose its status as such.

It's our modern philosophy to believe that all things happen for a reason, that All are One, and these fine things may in fact be true. But all you can do is believe, which requires a leap of faith.

Life fits us all. We all wear the same size. It just looks a little different on each of us. Sounds deep, doesn't it? But it's not. It just resonates with the current paradigm.

So you can say that absolutes exist, because you believe it. You may even know it in your heart. Yet, your heart is not mine. It cannot speak for me. It cannot prove anything to me.

Unless, of course, I am you as you are me as we are we and we are all together. I am the eggman. Koo koo ka choo.

I love you Juni. And I would be interested in what you believe are absolute truths. Apologies if this is not written well. I'm terribly busy and my sinuses are bothering me.

perhaps the world is flat?

and all the space photography and description and explanation is a hoax....who doesn't believe in the science god, not to accept this as absolute truth -- that the world is round??

how do we know for sure?

Exactly, salome. You have simply reinforced my point, lovely lady.

Not knowing for sure negates absolute truth.

relativity can be a slippery slope though, can't it?

i do however, accept linda goodman's truth more than the science god's.

perhaps there are gradations of truth...layers of different realities that overlap and intertwine and blend into each other to become something yet more and more true or real...

Not trying to sound like I want to start something here ... just genuinely curious ...

How do you suppose all those varying shades of gray came to be without there being a white and black somewhere out there?

And also, what do you suppose is the purpose of shades varying lighter or varying darker if there weren't a white and black somewhere? What would be the purpose of shading, why wouldn't it be all one shade of gray?

Just got my mind working here. I happen to agree with juniperb, btw.

I believe in varying perspectives while climbing the mountian and one grand perspective on the summit.

Basically what eleanore said.

As for Linda, she was a wise lady to be sure. I can't say I've personally come across anything I would label "misinformation". I certainly don't believe she ever knowingly shared false information. Possibly it would be fair to say some of her information requires further research on the part of the reader.

The best part about Linda is that she's safe, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't steer anyone in Seth's direction, for instance.

Tried to post this last night, to no avail...trying again!

Eleanore said: How do you suppose all those varying shades of gray came to be without there being a white and black somewhere out there?

An excellent spiral, Eleanore. Thank you for the food for thought.

Let me say that I haven't the Ultimate Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything. Or, if the answer is 42, then I too have been asking the wrong question.
I just have my thoughts and opinions, and am not attempting to represent them otherwise.

But as for your spiral, if we follow it in the linear fashion in which it was first stated, that if varying shades of grey lead to white and black, and if you want to assume that this linear path leads to a place where the origins of grey are the absolute representation of All That Is, you then reach black and white. Well, then you still haven't achieved an absolute. A singular absolute would lead to white or black, not both. Rather, grey leads us to...polarities. Positive and Negative. Good and Bad. Light and Dark. Male and Female. Mother and Father.

Ergo, Everything is Absolute Truth.

And for now, I kinda like that. Tomorrow I might change my mind.

Fayte, thank you for taking us back to the beginning. This thread began as a thought I had in the shower. It's obvious that Randall reveres Ms. Linda, as evidenced with his creation here. I wondered what he though of her not as a person, but as a philosopher.

My own opinion is that Linda was a woman who encountered many mysteries, and who had a boundless fascination of the esoteric. I think she believed mightily in what she wrote, and was enlightened in the world of Astrology. She was and is an inspiration for so many. I find that she was wrong about some things, but I don't think she passed on any misinformation intentionally. As previously stated, I think she may have discovered pieces of parts of whole truths.

How about this for absolute truth: Tink will make a wonderful mom. Her child will be adored and loved and cherished. How is the wee one coming along? You are within a couple of months, yes?
