Thank you, .gloria! INteresting..

Is there anywhere online that we could go for a brief description of the characteristics each animal represents?

I mean, don't get this ol treehugger wrong, I know every animal serves an important purpose in their enviroment, butreally...
the turkey?? I'm just having a tricky time figuring out what that means for me..

The others I can relate to though.. I'll ponder this abit and let you know what I get from it.

Hey Harpyr -

Hee hee...

I've been debating on whether to list the attributes I based these on. Wondering if it's better to just let each meditate over it and find it within themselves. I tend to lean towards the latter right now.

As for the Turkey, I'll give you a hint. Thanksgiving... (in a very good way)...

Hey Knowflakes -

ok...

Animal Spirits just like, astrological spirits, are open to interpretation. Just in case you didn't see earlier, no animal is good or bad, each is a beautiful creation with it's own inherent powers. I've interpreted these on an intuitive level, along with things I've learned and experienced along the way.

I was debating whether to list the attributes I was studying. But it STILL would not provide the whole answer because just as in astrology, I've considered many other things as well.

Meditate on your animal, see if it's one you've related to easily, and if not, perhaps see if it's a hidden aspect of yourself not yet cultivated.

If you get stuck on one, just ask me and I'll guide you along. But I think part of the fun is in discovering more about the animal in your own way because each person will see, feel and think something different.

Remember, a big part of Animal Totems is that you either have an affinity with that animal, or you will then begin to NOTICE IT MORE in your life, now that you are aware of it!

Reflect on the animal each time it appears in your life, whether in the flesh or in reference. You will only understand it's full meaning when you're aware in this way, and as more time passes, the more you'll realize...

ahh.. I think I see what you are saying about Thnaksgiving.. That the turkey is a symbol of this abundant life giving nourishment... I was thinking something simliar about the grouse.. But that could be because I'm from Alaska where there are no turkeys.. so the ptarmigan grouse sort of takes over that symbol.
so, hmmmm...
Could I inquire as to a clue re: the grouse?

Thank you gloria.

Eagle - yes, yes, yes. There is my strength. Deer - yes, but doesn't always make me happy. Lizard - absolutely, for good or bad. Raven - that too. But I shouldn't look there. Grouse? That one stumps me. They give me the creeps. But the others were so right on target I should give it the benefit of the doubt. I'll meditate on it.

Thank you again. Very generous of you.

Your True Colors:
The Lynx
Funny, in overview, all the animals are very 'feline'. I have never had a dog, I have had cats as animals all my life, although I do not have one now. I've meditated on the word feline before, and found it...feminine; the sound, feeling, Strong, Independent, aloof in general, but do a good service and they will love nothing more than to cuddle anywhere with you, and purr loudly on your chest and even lick away your tears. There's is a different devotion than their canine counterparts, yet just as powerful in its love. A Lynx, in particular, is very proud looking and wild, strong haunches, long yet agile and compact strides, mottled patterns, like camoflauge. Slitted, knowing eyes, teetering on the edge of striking or retreating. Is generally docile, but will attack if provoked.

The Caretaker:
The SquirrelAgile, fast footed, energetic, saver and provider, sleepy in coldness, stores things for future use(only food?...hmmmm...), driven, protective.

Action Orientation:
The Fox;Clever, quick footed, looks before leaping, plans things cautiously, but jumps with a purpose, conniving, can retreat if need be. Played Robin Hood in the Disney Movie. In my I ching, there is a passage about a fox- Be like the fox, she looks to find the best passage across the river, and is sure footed. Find the best way across, for if you cross only to soak your tail at the other side, all is defeated. Makes sense for me.Plus, there's Jimi Hendrix~ Foxy Lady... I like that!!!!

Exploring Your Environment:
The Mountain Lion MMMMRRRROOOOWWWWWRRRR!!!! Big paws to climb obstacles, solitary yet friendly, wise, knowing journeys on its large head. Will defend honour to the death.

The trend has been quick..... I guess I'm fast.... (don't tell the men!)

Thank You Gloria.. this is what I have so far. I appreciate your take on my guides.
